I can get past it but had to pull back because of temps. Cpu temp in smart guardian was hittin 70'. i lifted rig over to front door 2 cool it (pretty cool ere in irl at nite). gonna change to better cooler soon. Had to push 1.5v to core & add 1.7v to nb 4:3 divider. cant go higher on this setup. missis keeps turnin on the heating which isn't helping matters. :slapass:Quote:

im currently hitting 3.2ghz @ 1.28vcore
temps are stable, low 30's on the cpu. im using a bigtyphoon modded with a 100cfm fan
Here's a screenie!

Not bad, considering where im at! =)
set the NB to 1.75 (max) and you will be able to go higher. I keep it at 1.75 all the time...
Im also on 8/30 and everything is working fine. I have zero issues with this board except for the 400FSB wall with 2Gb.
budwise,
what else did you tweak? how much vcore? is your 3.6ghz oc stable? thanks man!
I'm on the 830 now...still the same, when it posts, I can o/c it to around 360FSB.
btw, anyone else having trouble with the 4:3 divider? I can't get it to post with that divider on any of the 8xx bioses
tbh I can get it to work, but it yields no real fsb advantage over 1:1 on my board so it's not really worth it.
400X9 (3.6) is stable for the first boot and will run Orthos, Pi, whatever just fine. But when i reboot it will then give alot of grief trying to repost and that is where the problem is...

Same here! when are the guys over at dfi coming up with the official release?? people are starting to mock dfi's performance. Even the crappy ds3 performs better than this.Quote:

does anyone know how to disable the EIST option on this board?
Well I tried the vmch mod and upped it to 1.95 and the board still struggles to boot at 380+ fsb with my 6600, pumping more volts through the nb didn't help me at all, same old coldboot issue.
I have a 6700 on the way, I can live with a max reliable post/booting 370fsb with a 10x multiplier to play with I guess.
Ah who am I kidding, I think its about time for me to throw in the towel on this board, it was a great price but I guess you get what you pay for, DFI for Intel isn't like DFI for AMD.
More cold boots. probs not gone away yet, this 0830 is a bit buggy. :hitself:
When are Dfi gonna get their act together?

I also diable C1E as well. As far as other stuff like drive strengths i simply leave everything on auto. The only other stuff i change in the overclocking area is my memory timings set to 4-4-4-12 4:5 which puts it up to DDR2 948 with my 24/7 OC. I also have removed the NB cooler and changed the stock goop for AS5 which helped my NB temps tremendously. With a 90mm fan pointed at my NB, temps dropped 22C just from swapping to AS5...
7/31 BIOS here :)
The problem is NOT with the BIOS, the difference between that 380-390 everyone blabs about is just too big. :slap:
The board is NOT modded, everything is air cooled.
I've set the PCIe frequency to 120MHz, btw :)
I'll try 830 soon, I guess I'll get 480FSB :D
no the problem its not the bios its the board
Yeap, that's what I meant :)
Please notice you are running only 1Gb of ram. 2Gb wont clock as high on the FSB...

8/23, and 8/30 have been fine for me. Quite a boost in ram OCability but not much of a boost in FSB.
Heartfixer can you break 400fsb without setting the PCI freq to 120?
my board do not boot whit any other bios after the 7/31 i tryed evrysing and nothig and this is my second board my first one just caught fire :D
i took out my other stick or ram and tried maxing out all the voltage options in the bios, still wont boot past 360! damn! im leaning towards asus now. the dfi worked wonders with my PD 930. but with conroe, it sucks big timE!
Peeps down at dfi! better come up with something asap or you'll have a run for your money!
On those 8xx bioses, set in SPD's your timings, then for the next two fields after the refresh rate thingy, 12 then 10, and set all the drive strengths to 3x.Quote:

now, will someone please tell me how to turn off the freakin EIST. with my measily overclock (355*9) and the EIST kicking in, i get clocks lower than an e6300.
cpu feature>c1e disable.
raju
my c1e's turned off already. but everytime i check cpu-z or the system properties, the EIST feature seems to be on. ive already configured the power saving options in XP but the stupid eist wont go.
search for the crystlcpuid thread on disabling speedstep...
you have to change a couple of registers to do it.....
I leave it on, my board steps up to 375fsb on the 9x multi when under load, though for ultimate stability, you'll want to turn it off...
mine should step up to 355 but it doesnt,
i got the crystal cpuid to work, but my problem now is how to enable it each time i boot because it goes back to x6 after booting.
Thanks Raju!
you'll have to go through the process every time I'm afraid...
this week hopefully my DDR2 Maximiser will arrive, so hopefully I'll be able to test this board to see if it improves overclocking. ATM real stability level for me is 375 1:1, I can run 4:5 but sometimes I get lockups in XP and games. Let's see if the Maximiser can help....
I asked Hi-Pro for a picture of the mod required to use the Maximiser, he obliged
http://www.hipro-tech.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=5#5
lets see what happens, though looking at the info Tony provided on the Intel chipset the max fsb is limited due to the NB setup through DFI's bios. The only real way to get a higher fsb is for the 1333fsb strap to be manipulated, alas as this is an Infinity, DFI are not overly keen to make the board real fast as to upstage the upcoming R600 chipset boards or Lanparty range...
regards
Raja
Yeah I suspect they don't want to make this board to good.
Otherwise it will upstage the Lanparty boards. Hopefully someone (cmon tony) will mod the bios sometime in the future.

I can see why you would be disssapointed as its not the best board.

I've got c1e disabled & also the 2 things under it:Quote:

The maximiser is not just a voltage booster, it provides rock steady low ripple, low noise voltage that is steady right upto a very high current draw, I think people confuse it's overall abilities with the OCZ DDR booster, which was primarily aimed at providing more voltage than the motherboard could. The Infinity's vdimm voltage section is not that great, already we can see 512mb ram out performing the 2 gig kits, also there is a vdroop upon load which can be seen whilst running Orthos, remember the higher the ram speed and overall ram size, the greater the need for current and low impedence at high frequency. There is no way the motherboard can match the current delivery specs of the Maximiser, testing will tell the true difference.
High frequency noise on the voltage line effects overclock stability and ability. That's why we see the top end boards using solid capacitors, they offer far lower impedence at higher frequencies and also have a longer life span due to the abscence of the liquid electrolyte which dries up over time in standard electrolytic capacitors..

you seem to have the best oc for the e6600, could you post your bios settings. i have a template at the previous page. thanks!!! =)

I don't know what to make of temps, With these settings i hit a max of 62' with smart guardian & speedfan, but when i touch the pipes on the cooler theyre not even warm. Any suggestions in how to get my temps down or any other settings i should try?
well i was unable to boot at 380fsb only post at it sometimes and it would often crash in bios
i just changed pcie clock from 101 to 120 and can now run memtest86 at 388fsb sofar
i also uped some v settings but in the past they have made no difference and when i lowerd the pcie back down to 101 it failed to post again so im guesing that is what is helping
any ideas how high i may be able to go on pcie with a 7600gt and if it is likely to do any harm or just creat instabiliy\artifacts if i go to high?
Edit:
tried a higher pcie it could only get to 125mhz and that didnt help me get over 388fsb
set all v back to stock except vdim i left it at 2.25v and it made no difference
ahwell the extra 10fsb is nice and it will be interesting to see if this makes any difference for anyone else
e6300
team xtreem 4-4-4 6400 micron 2x1g
xfx 7600gt
388fsb 667 4-4-4-10 2.25vdim with 823 beta this is unstable but a few mhz less should be fine
By 120MHz I only have my IDE drives left.Quote:

I really know what you're saying, my friend. But ripple and vdroop are important especially when you're on the edge of stability. I was able to run PI 32M stable @ 425MHz x9, the RAM@320MHz 3-2-2-7-15,6-2.4V, but it was not the RAM that is in danger of failing here. The droop on this board (the one I have over here) is less than 1%, completely irelevant.Quote:

Yes, for total stability 24/7, I totally agree on the maximiser, but if the processor and board are on the point of bailing out, getting the RAM stable won't help you at all.
Best Regards :)
Bah, I've given up on this board - ordered the Asus P5WDG2 Pro.
Can stick my U320 controller into it. :D
Imho, the bios requires DFI's tweaking and modding. Let us be more patient and who knows we might just hit 400FSB with the next bios version?Quote:

It must be a memory problem? I'm using Patriot Pc800.
I have tried a lot of motherboards and DFI has been the most stable and consistent of all.

God this is ridiculous, my board posts @ 100MHz FSB and the minimum FSB to set in bios is 200MHz and it doesn't post at that.
a.) Why does it post at 100MHz (checked the BSEL pins and they're clear).
b.) Isn't it a bit silly to set the minimum clock for a 100MHz bus to 200MHz.

Ive been waiting for that bios since coolaler showed up and said the bios will be available the next day. sheeeeeeeeeet
here's another one.... the eist only kicks in when my system's overclocked!!!
it just defeats the purpose dont you think?
now, im waiting for two things.... oskar's bios, and fcg's eist fix
Cmon DFI,
I have been waiting so long and i've been patient but now im getting a little frustrated. There has been news of this fabulous bios since i ordered the board about a month ago but still nothing solid or stable.
I only need like an extra 20fsb to be happy
I)ickie
Question:
What could cause this board to always boot up at 200MHz FSB? (and I have to overclock to reach 266FSB - but it's not stable at that).
The BSEL pins are clean. Can't think of anything else.

Check your temps. That may be thermal throttling due to high temps.

what ram are you using?
maybe we need to make a list of working and non working ram..
I Use Team Group 667mhz 2 gig 3-3-3-8 kit, no cold start problems works fine upto 375fsb on 1:1 2.2volts, boot up every time.
I think if we compile a list of working and non working ram we may see a pattern, which will help DFI in nailing the issues.

wait wait ... . i think i got the right bios!! 631 works well with my setup, no more eist and cold boots, but im still keeping my fingers crossed. hope it stays this way. but still no go for 360+fsb =(
Gandolf, can't understand how you got such a high fsb stable with so little voltage. Also you're the 1st one i've seen using the "cpu turbo add on speed".
How does that cpu turbo add on speed work? I've gotta add +162.5mV to get mine stable @ 355fsb & my temps are maxin out.
Could every1 else here pls post your settings.
Btw i'm using the OCZ ram in my sig & have it @ 5-5-5-15 4:5, 445Mhz with 2.15v and i have cold boot issues sometimes. Hope Dfi sort something out pretty soon as i'm gettin major pissed off.
i tried the cpu turbo add on speed and it didnt work for me.
mine's stable now with the 631 bios @ 355fsb +150mV !!! no more cold boots and eist =) i didnt even bother to disable the CE1 anymore,
I'm not the first one to use Turbo add on speed. I think somewhere in this thread 'Knook' (not sure about that name?) had it set in his post. So I did it and it ran fine maxed out. I have no idea what it does?
Pictures, this is how it runs 24/7.
More!
I see you have Vista. I have downloaded it 5 times, even used download managers and have yet to get a non-corrupt copy?
tnxs for the pics.. I'll load the 0731 bios.. I'm using the 0830 bios and got mostly the same result.. :)

Yeah i was using some generic elpida stuff that was good to 400 4-4-4-12 that couldnt make it past 390 5-5-5-15.
Currently i am using some supertalent stuff that defaults at 400 4-4-3-8 and i cant get it to 390 5-5-5-5-15.
Processor is at least good to 400fsb as i tested it with one stick of ram.
I)ickie
your ram may very well be your problem. DFI has a long history of not liking cheap value ram. Get some good stuff like the Gskill HZ, then you will be good up to DDR1000 at least.
My teamgroup can take 800 @ 3-3-3-8 timings on this mobo. Though the CPU fsb still craps out @ 379.
i can manage to get my Team Group 667mhz 2 gig kit 3-3-3-8 at 800mhz for 12mins in super pi @ 2.28 volts, I recon with a better board it'd pass long enough to be considered stable.
back to cold booting again! but at least no more eist.
The Supertalent stuff is good man,Quote:

Try setting failed oc control to 1mhz. I think the 0731 suffers from cold boots but it uses oc control instead of failing to boot. I find if it fails to boot 1st time it defaults to stock unless you set oc control. This sh1t really is head wrecking. Dfi obviously don't care bout this mobo.Quote:

Wait for the new Dfi :p: Its obviously what they're (DFI) concentrating on.
its going to be a long wait for that board, it's not even on their website yet. i was looking at the P5B but it seems that it's also plagued with issues. p5wdh perhaps?
