Biostar's website is an disaster so I don't think you'll find the answer there.

If you look at another mobo with the same chipset you will find out if works on that mobo.

I believe the 506 is listed on the above ASUS cpu support page for the P5B Deluxe.

hmm... on your signature, you use a D805 right? it has same bus like 506 (533 MHz). and you are using DS3, so i think that my cpu also fit in that mobo :)

but... when i see this screen shot:

it says that minimum fsb is 266 MHz, but my cpu only has 133 MHz FSB in default :(

so what should i do?

isn't that screen shot with a C2D in the socket?...if so, it is probably detecting the bus speed and showing it as the minimum selectable FSB.

core 1 tread 1. I set it to 600x8 in bios it show 4.8Ghz when restart but actual is only 3.2Ghz

that would be my guess....as long as the bios is coded to accept that processor, it should show the base FSB as the minimum

newegg has the non-deluxe model for about $105...i think it has no raid and the multi changing feature is not available; although someone said the deluxe model might not have the multi changing feature either.

450 mhz fsb was the first setting i booted with my PT. after a freeze in os i wasnt able to boot that clock anymore. anything below works fine after a while of testing [even 449 :confused2] but from 450 mhz it fails.

is it actually necessary cooling the mosfets ? :D
maybe i should try a better mch cooling allthough bios shows 22° C SYS Temp :cool:

do you think cooling is the reason for that fsb wall ?

Problably memory, Biostar has weird memory issues, if your memory bugs out in 2:3 you'll know it's memory issue...

ya, allready thought of and tried 2 different micron d9 kits.
and they go with ddr 800 divider far over 500 mhz. 533 really works fine up to 449 mhz. exactly from 450 mhz it wont boot.

€ i did the vdimm mod, increased voltages. tried any bios. but its allways the same fsb wall 1:1.

and isnt it a coinscidence that it dies exatcly at 450 mhz ?

in fact it would be pain in the arse. this board was actually meant to max my cellshocks 8000 out.

first of all, not all ram sticks from the same batch are equal...because one user has no problem reaching a certain fsb, doesn't mean that you will get the same results with the same model sticks.

Well, for me at every divider the memory maxes out at same freq while in other board it'll go way faster, that's why I'm limited at 1:1, your board seems really weird...

hehe. it were two different brands. g.skill and cellshock.
i tried mushkins aeneons too. but they couldnt stick with the microns.

im never satisfied anyways in the first place :D
but the fact that the gap between 100 % stable and not even bootable lies between one single clock makes me crazy. another thing is that i can reach the 449 mhz with the lowest voltage settings.
thats why im really in a huff :)

nah, it ran on p5w with 465 mhz when i remember correctly.
but ill have another look on my oc pics to be sure. its only on my disk at home.

i just (cold)bootet with 454 mhz on the biostar (set in the afternoon but also weird because usually it sets cpu clock on default after a crash)
anyways, i got a freeze a few seconds. surprise, surprise. but wth is the board trying to tell me :confused:

anybody knows where the sensor reads out sys temp ? actually temps are fine.
even one of my early ideas was that a cold bug is the reason :D so i turned on the heater but that didnt work either :rolleyes:

I did 36gp with this motherboard and it perform very well. This Motherboard can do easy 540*6 cpu
this 6600 in aircooling, i m going to try it under phase change. :D

Not vmod (vmod vddr only) (Bios The Stilt ver Dlx)

The Night , i test my 6600 under Caskade (and Vmod Vcore & Vddr) with Bios 914 :)

About the Vmod...if anyone can offer assistance really quick.

I just got this board and am going to do the jumper mod. I am trying to get around 2.35-2.4v for the ddr2. So, just to clarify...the LOWER the resistance on the VR, the HIGHER the ddr2 voltage will be, correct? I just want to make sure I don't start out at the HIGHEST setting.

Also, can you use a DMM to measure ddr2 voltage with no ram in the slots? As in, turn on the psu/mb with no ram in it and still measure the coil? Thanks guys.

Well, just thought I'd share that the stilt mod worked like a charm. I have to say though, it's a little odd that I had to crank on the VR for about 20 turns before it did ANYTHING. Then, it jumped from 2.3 to 2.7v! So I backed it off to a nice 2.46v to start. My Corsair 5400UL ram will be here tomorrow. Will post results as they come. :)

Voltage starts to increse below 2kohm measured on pot, so putting 50k pot is not good idea, jumps will be very huge and u will have less control on your memory. 10kohm will do the job perfectly.

Ok I try almost everything with stock BIOS (with one the board came).

I try all possible voltages, I also try with max PCI-E clock (I set it 200) using PCI Matrox card, but I can not go above 490Mhz no matter what I do, I didn't try single channel and I didn't try any of modded BIOS I will try that latter today

Its a good idea to start with fixed resistors.

Install a 100k resistor, test.
Install a 50k resistor, test.
Install a 25k resistor, test..

etc, until you find the point where voltage begins to climb. Old 3-pin fan headers and old power/LED connectors work perfect for swapping resistors fast without soldering.

I'm reasonably happy. But since I paid 128 Euro for the board I would prefer 550 FSB... :D

Hey guys, I have a question!

I did the vdimm mod and I'm still waiting for my ram to come in the mail today. There is something very odd going on though. Even when my computer is turned off, there is still ~2.5v going to the ram! Is this because there is no ram in the slots? The psu is on, but board is turned off...but I still get the vdimm reading. What's going on???

I'l boot with 398 to stay with the tighter strap and then use clockgen to crank the fsb up...

I have a P5 dlx. SuperPi 8M is about 11 s. faster on the P5B @ 525 x 9 than Biostar :shrug:

An ATX motherboard is turned on simply by being connected to an atx PSU, the power switch simply turns on everything else.

Ok I manage to take same scrshots from win at 500 fsb but nothing else, if I run eny test win will reset, so maybe my CPU is FSB limited? I try with diferent BIOS its all same for me.

it seems to me that biostar has not the pcie@1X problem
if i had known, I would have chosen biostard instead of asux :/

I don't understand what's going on. I got this board all set and running with the Stilt volt mod, but the ram is totally unstable with the mod installed. I thought that corsair 5400ul loved voltage. I set the voltage to 2.4, 2.5, 2.6 and it still gets errors in memtest. I remove the mod, and the board can run 450fsb at 1:1 no problem. Why would the volt mod cause errors in memtest? This ram uses D9 fat body chips.
