Still with heatspreader on it. Will squeeze it a bit more without HS and stable dual-Prime will follow. 2950-3000 MHz should be easy with it.

@ FragTek

2700 @ 1.52V is quite worse for 180 Opteron. Maybe temperature is holding you back? Btw SP2004 is crap - use two instances of Prime 24.13 or 24.14.

Some of my 175 can do 2800 at 1.47 :

Actually that speed isn't too shabby for this processor... Don't know where you've been looking.

And yes the temps might be holding me back, but never fear I just got the hookup on a PC Ice v2000 vapo that's supposedly supposed to do -45*c @ 1.85vcore full load :banana: :banana: :banana: :woot: :banana: :banana: :banana: It should be in within 2 weeks mefinks.

Reports when it comes in! :D

hi

my 165 CCBWE 0546SPMW does:

2450@stock
2500@1.392
2700@1.55
2800 weaker core is core 0 (fails in 2minutes)

all that with stock hsf, closed case not so well ventilated.

i'm satisfied 4 the moment more tests with screenies asap :)

Well here's my results with a 0534 SPMW 165. No proof of stability here but it's running great, 32hrs of prime and lots of games :) This is with 1.475 set in BIOS, I'm really hoping to lower it to 1.45

Not bad. My 180 also does 2.7 pretty reliably at in the 1.4ish range. While I'd love to be hitting 3 ghz, I don't think i'll be hitting it on air or with my current memory.

I've been toying with the idea of swapping mobo's... I have this odd suspiscion that it might not be performing up to potential. Perhaps I'll make a board swap when I get the new PC Ice unit in.

I got a lot of cheap 165's and most of them did 2700 @ 1.52-1.58V.

Well, after more burning and tweaking, I'm now running reliably (dual prime large and small fft, memtest, FEAR, 3dmark05) at:

2.75Ghz @ 1.55V and 49*C

2.77 is not totally stable, so I think I will just avoid 2.76 as well. Maybe with more burning, 2.77Ghz can run dual prime for about 5 minutes.

3.05ghz dual prime stable @ 1.65 actual dmm v-core reading on A8R MVP. Not sure I want to play with more volt now... I will probably look at what screenies I can get now.

No overclocking for me. 1 core errors out of Prime in less than a minute if both are running. Going to do some more testing but I think it's DOA. :(

Wierd, this opty which can happily dual prime @ 2.7ghz and up to 2.75ghz on air only likes 3.05ghz on phase. I haven't been able to get it stable beyond that yet. It is rock solid at 3.05ghz though... Good enough for daily rig of mine for sure but bit disappointing considering it did almost 150mhz more on air than my x2 3800 did. Was hoping for 3.25ghz dual prime stable.
