Hi, i'm new in this special forum :toast: sorry for the language but i'm italian...

I have the following configuration:
Processor: Amd Athlon64 core Venice 3000+ @ 244x9=2199MHz dailyuse
Motherboard: Asus A8v Deluxe Rev 2.0 VIA KT880PRO
Memory: TwinMOS DDR400 Cl2.5-3-3-8
PSU: Enermax Noisetaker 485W
Cooling: Boxed+2x120mm fan (front intake-rear exaust)
Temperature full load CPU: 44°
Temperature full load Mobo: 25°

any ideas if the ones newgg is selling are a good revision for overclocking? I just want to be able to do 2.8 on a dfi nf4 infinity w/ xp90 cooling.

could i expect the same oc with a 3000 as with a 3200?

I bought a 3200+ E6 Venice week 0531EPDW on ewiz a short while ago, which is probably very similar to what newegg sells now.

It does ok but really not that great. 2550 @ 1.55 volts stable. 2700 wasn't stable for more than a few hours even at 1.8 volts. Didn't try too hard yet but it is clear that it is not going to 2.8.

You are asking the wrong question.

Early E3s were doing better than most later E3s. Early E6s did better than later E6s do.

Edit on request > Volts are correct, and i thought it was already becoming clear by now that the early LBBLE chips were the best overclockers, so yeah this is kind of a brag screenshot indeed ... Just a matter of luck, nothing more ...
And iff for some reason the powersupply is important > "Ednet 480", the best there is ...

Unless this is just a list of "show-off" screenshots, would those of you who already posted your high overclocks, edit your posts to include the BIOS and if possible real voltages, ambient temperature, cooling used, and little details like which motherboard and which PSU... :slap:

Perhaps then we might have a clearer idea of which cores (date) are better overclockers.

Also, please try not to boast too much how easy your 2.9Ghz or even 3.0Ghz on air is :nono:
I suspect many of us have had hard enough time to get to 2.7-2.8Ghz :woot:

Hi everyone

P4GD1 died a week ago

So bought an Abit AN8 SLI (BIOS 1.6)
and 4x256 PC4800 Gskill 2.5-4-4-8
Venice 3000+

Funny,the revision of the mem controller will now accept 4xDDR400 mem banks...but won't overclock

so back to old Corsair PC4400 C25 2x512 chips

Watercooling Cooler Master aquagate modded
Tried and installed XP Pro SP2 (NX bit activated)
also CN'Q is activated....
and Nforce4 raid chip is running 2 x 80 S-ATA Maxtor diamond max PLUS 9..RAID 0
OC Guru is running
Sapphire X800XL 432/540 PCI-E
(Sapphire X800GTO² modded to X850 XT PE is coming

I run it @ 267 FSB / HTT 3x / 2.403 Ghz / NForce4 Vcore @ 1.55 / CPU ref. Vcore @ +0.020
24-24 use
DDR@DDR333

I can push it @ 2700 Mhz
Nforce4 @ 1.7
HTT @ 1.3
CPU @ 1.6
FSB @ 300
DDR @ DDR333
SuperPi@33.468 (don't know if it's good..)

I had to increase the latencies...
still 2.5-4-4-8, but 've increased other latencies (PC wasn't stable....reboots itself when shutdown ??)

don't know how to post some pics....
but i can tell you more about my rig....
The serial number of the cpu is right at my parent's home....so will give it in a week max....

Is there a way i could use my Gskill mem sticks ??
_lower latencies (given to be 2-3-3-5 but at what DDR Voltage??)
_to use synchronised DDR (well, the memory is NOT synchronised anyway with A64 but @ 300 HTT....

But the matter is those sticks have no cooling system (heat dissipator) and if i use only 2 banks, i would have 2x256=512 only of total mem....

do you know any issues??

With those settings, board will fail @ 303 FSB
Icould up the Nforce 4 Vcore a little bit (1.8 max)
But the proc is rather close to it's limit....

So, I'm planning on buying a Venice 3500+ and just today noticed newegg sells both BP and BW. I don't think they did up until today.

I'm not going to be pushing for every last MHz, but my BH-5 RAM should at least get a 3500+ up to 2750MHz (on good air cooling). Should I go E3 or E6 core?

I have just flashed with the DFI beta bios 510T1 beta officail and it seems to be much better with my vinice and the 2 X 512 tccd memory. I am doing 2900 MHz 1:1 with 1.58 vcore and 2.87 vdimm. I will try for more later but I see my +12 voltage is showing a bit low on this 20 pin 600 watt Enermax. I will test the line at the molex.

Just to add this is bf2 and all game stable!

I would say that it is probably better than average. Here is what I was able to do with that stepping. Ran it 10x270, 1.4x113% for 24/7. 0512 and 0517 seem to be the best.

with IHS. seems like i always get CPU's with bad contact between IHS and core, since at load CPU temp rises 12C above idle.

I have a Venice 3000+ (now they're obsolete, I thought I should grab one and see how good); it's an E6 (BW) stepping, second line is LBBWE 0533FPDW.

To play with it, I have an ASRock Dual mobo with 1.20 bios which limits vcore to 1.45v and the HTT to 274 MHz. Using the stock HSF and stock voltage (1.4), the CPU primes at 270*9, memory at CPU/12 and HT 4x. Beyond 270 HTT, it tends to lock up and at 274 HTT won't boot - I need to install one of the OCW beta bios to see if that's purely a mobo thing. Temps are 17C room, 28.5 idle and 42 priming. I think that this one can go further with a new bios.

Despite the E6 revision being slated as poor, 33% overclock isn't at all shabby, particularly with stock cooling. Maybe not as good as the E3, but not bad.

i had 2, 0531BPMW e3, box...and they both did 300x9@1.45V vcore, on air cooling ofcourse... :rolleyes:

and they were prime95 stabile, sp32mb stabile, occt stabile, 3dmark200x stabile, you name it...

later i put water on one and it did 2.8ghz@1.525V or so...

my exp says this is a good cpu and a good stepping... :cool:

I have my 3500+ Venice at 2.5 Ghz for daily use, thinking about going higher. Idles at 32 to 36 C, maxes at 48C after being under 100% load for a considerable amount of time. Stock cooling, ofc...

Re the Venice 3000+ E6 I mentioned previously. Prime stable at 2.475 G (275 x 9) stock HSF and 1.4v, won't run a clean prime at 280 x 9 (2.54 G) even with 1.45v.

This is on an Asus A8N32-SLI; it largely confirms the Asrock result. Seems that the chip hits a wall over 275 HTT. It's a seller, tho it would do a gamer proud at 2.4G .
