I am simply amazed by this mobo. It runs 4*1GB at 1000MHz without any problem. Modules are Kingston 667 CL5 ValueRam. QVL says that these modules cannot be used in 4 slot configuration.

I have had two E8400 and one xeon E3110 .The E3110 is the worst of the 3 overclocking chips. One of the E8400 chips and the E3110 will prime at 4.0ghz but when I hit the reset button the system hangs unless I do a hard reset. The second E8400 didn't do this at the same setting. Do you guys think it's the chip or this motherboard and has anyone else had this trouble. Anyone know is there a setting that needs changed in the bios to fix this.
Does anyone else have random reboot problems when system is overclocked and sitting idle for too long?
This random reboot also corrupts windows boot file when it happens.
Is there a site or does someone here know what all of the settings in bios do and what are some ballpark figures if you want to reach 500mhz FSB? My E6300 is stable at >3000mhz when using the 7x multi so that's not a problem. I have also stressed my reaper 6400 at 500mhz at a high multiplier vs FSB and they were fine too. However, my p5k-e at 500mhz with everything running 1:1 and 6x multi but it doesn't boot. I'm wondering what I need to change, so far all I've tried is 1.55 on the NB, still no luck. I also tried the various gtl reference ratios for the cpu and NB. Anyway, I'd just like some concrete bios settings that would theoretically enable me to boot with 500mhz.
edit: using 1004 bios and specs as follows
E6300 B2 revision
P5K-E latest revision
ocz reaper 6400 rated at 4-4-4-15 at 400mhz but I've tested them 5-5-5-15 at 500mhz 2.20v
8800GT
Sound Blaster Audigy SE
Antec NeoHE 430 power supply
NB frequency = FSB * (default multi) / (set multi)
So, 500MHz * 7 / 6 = 583MHz. That's too high for you NB to handle.
I think my mind is blown! so everything else equal, if I set multi to 5 then the NB is running at 583, and if I set multi to 7 then the NB will be running at 500? So basically having it at 7 could potentially mean a more stable overclock?
Someone else was posting in this thread with the same problem, I dont remember if he fixed it or not, just look back though the thread, you should
find it.
And check your windows power settings, it may be trying to go into sleep, or
suspend mode and crashing. Disable these if they are on.
hi there why my hd usb2 is SLOWWW SLOWWWW???? with this board??????
max before i got 445x9...now 455x9...but not just that....i have more sata now....more space around socket to mount big coolers....easier flashing new bios....wlan wifi which is quite cool....more stable vcore...and sold abit ip35-e quite good :)
Yes my board only does it with some wolfdales of the 5 chips 3 wolfs one york, I have had this problem before I reached 4.0ghz on two of them. The other three reached 4.0ghz then started with this reset trouble. I like this board alot but it is time for a maximus.
been having an argument with a friend. is the M/B temp in bios is actually the N/B temp? if not this mobo should have a N/B temp seeing as it's a the same pcb as P5K-Deluxe (or Premium can't remember). is it intentionally hidden in bios?
These are bonehead questions. I'm assembling my sytem & I'm new to OC'ing.
The Tuniq Tower's fan has a 3 pin female plug. The Asus has a 4-pin CPU Fan plug. How are people connecting the fan to the mobo? The CHA_FAN1 plug is a male 3 pin. Can I connect to it instead? If someone could explain the difference in the mobo fan plug types, I'd be very appreciative. :)

That's what I needed to know. Thanks!
My random idle reboot problem which happens at any clock speed is looking like a memory compatibilty issue.
Crucial Ballistix Tracer 8500 2X1024 is the ram that is messing up.
Running memtest finds no errors.
Installing OCZ gold PC 6400 has stopped random reboots, freezing, errors, and bsod issues.
No more flashy lights for my pc :(
i had random reboots/stand by's...
solved by cancling all the power managment options of windows, i have vista ultimate 64bit SP1 and it made a mess of everything...
