I just got a DS3 and overall I'm pretty happy with it. I was worried about the board not booting with Gskill HZ memory and my fears were realized when I first tried to boot. So after about the 10th combination of different memory configs, it finally posted for some reason and I was able to set the memory at 2.1v. This is on F6 bios. Right now I've only got it at 8x400, but I haven't had a chance to test it any further. Overall I'm happier with the DS3 than my Badaxe.
Does DS3 works fine with these rams?

Most memory need 2.1 volts at 800mhz, and the only interesting timings are the first four. The rest doesn't do much and is normally good at auto/default.Quote:

I bought Corsair XMS6400C4.
It failed miserably to boot, giving me tons of small blips.
I put the original Kingston DDR533 back in and that too also blipped like hell, and for a while I thought I had killed somehting but I found out eventually that its just the Seating on the RAM in the board.
I would suggest that if anyone else has RAM that seems to be failing, make 100% the RAM is seated and even when oyu are 100% in the know... Check again... And again... AND AGAIN...
My Corsair works fine, as does the Kingston.
I borrowed some other RAM from my mates who would let me test theirs out and in nearly all cases, it gave me greif and then once I got it seated right, they all worked... EVERY SINGLE STICK OF RAM I HAVE TESTED ALL FAILED AT FIRST BUT WENT IN JUST FINE... I have tried 23 different pairs of RAM now... 21 mates who let me use their RAM and 2 of my own.
Just a note for you to consider anyway.
While I am here, does anyone have NFS-U2 running on their board?
I got 2 of these boards, E6300 @ 3.3 and a P4 Prescott 660 @ 4.3 and they both crash left right and center on me.
Just a guess......but you probably have them overclocked to high, or something not tweaked properly. Voltage or memory timings maybe?:fact:Quote:

I ran orthos for 8 hours with no error and then i stopped it manually. I am able to play games for hours with no crash.
Then when I'm working: surfing, dreamweaver, photoshop, 3ds max etc it has crashed several times, I get a bluescreen for 1/10 second that I can't possibly read and then it reboots. Also what happens just before the crash is that the music hangs and rapidly repeats(you know like a fast shooting gun) for 1 second or so.
So I tried to clock my pc down again, and now I'm running on all normal settings, (don't remember just if i put memory at rated 1,9 or mb default 1,8, 1,9 i think.) And I got crash again, while working, music on.
Now I will test being music free for the next couple of days. (Thinking it might be winamp or the audio drivers) EDIT: I will immediately download new audo drivers too
I might also do a memtest, (just have to get a floppy :p: )
EDIT: I'll also test a new bios
Can you think of anything else that can be the cause of this problem?
Well those are 2x 512MB OCZ Value Pc5400, it cannot boot.....i tried with ram like kingmax, corsair, it works but ocz, i tried bios F7 didnt work tho, dunno if bios F8i beta fix this ?Quote:

I don't think anyone has had a problem with the F8i bios at stock settings. Some have complained it didn't help overclocking.
I read somewhere that some OCZ users had a problem snapping the modules into the socket.
S3 should also be included under these faq as they are basically the same boards with the same issues. Got one after killing my Asus P5W DH (and it wasn't from the 2.05v I ran through the NB, I dropped the damn mobo!) Was just shy of the 500mhz fsb mark when I dropped her :(
Stuck at 400mhz on the S3, haven't been able to find the USB to PS2 adapter for my mouse and keyboard! I'm assuming that's been my issue on the OC. Either that or the S3 hates my PQI Turbo ram (got it just shy of 1000mhz when attempting to break the 500mhz fsb barrier on a 975X chipset!)
This boards been frustrating, but it'll have to do!!!
I don't know if usb is an issue on overclocking but maybe you need to call the Geek Squad to find that adapter!:D The USB to PS2 adapters go for $1.50 to about $20. Looking at where you're located I'd bet somewhere within a tank of gas you could find the cheap version.Quote:

Can my Corsair pc6400 ( elpida chips )work together in dual channel with D9GMH ? I've hearded some problem with D9 and the DS3. :cool:

Just a noob question, but can all E6400's do atleast 400fsb ( with the correct multies of course ) assuming theres no problem with both ram and motherboard ?
My new ds3 is turning up tommorrow, are their any issues from booting from a sata dvd rom or will i have to chuck in the ide dvd rom to boot from dvd ?
Sort of... my early E6400 does 3.0G @1.35V, 3.2G @1.5V, 3.4G @1.55V and boots at 3.6G @1.6V but isn't truly 100% stable above 3.2G. Even at 3.2G it often boots with only 1 core detected and runs hotter than I like. I'm pretty sure that I could get it stable at 3.4G with more voltage and better cooling of the CPU, NB, ram and mobo but for now 3.0G (376FSB) is the max it will do for 100% stable 24/7 use.Quote:

My board came with the F4 bios, and for some reason my Burners wouldnt detect. Once i flashed the F6 all worked fine..odd. Im still on stock cooling (for now), i set the fan to run full speed, i can get 3.4g at 1.3v 3dmark and gaming stable, just hitting 60c..(gotta get a new cooler).
Whats this USB issue i read about? while my system is just sitting there ill get a BSOD with some sort of USB error, yes im using a USB mouse. O well overall im happy:D
F7 sucks for me.. still seems f3 is the one..
I wonder if giga would allow a RMA for me because it wont allow my pci-x to run 16x?

Hey, having a little DS3 trouble.
System ran fine for a month, then yesterday I installed a new HSF, ran Orthos for one hour, and shut it off.
Now when I press the power button, the fans & HDD spin, but there's no monitor signal, and no beeping.
Hell even tried booting without memory or video card, and still no beeping.
Cleared the bios, took the battery out for 12 hours, nothing.
Also, don't know if this matters, but if I hit the reset switch, the DVDRW "resets" itself.
Tried some new memory, still no boot.
So....dead mobo or dead cpu?
Exact same thing happened to me with F8i bios. I RMAed the board yesterday but hopefully it isn't my CPU.
