Its the second memory voltage. It helps with stability. Just keep it at or lower then what ever you set your memory voltage too. I know when I run high memory I can't drop it lower then where it is otherwise it locks up, but raising it doesn't seem to help either.Quote:

I hit 600@1.15v / 650@2.01v over lunch. 3dmark05 ran 3 times without a hitch. I think I like my core the way it is, but I want 700 on the mem :) Will try higher at 2.01 after work. I'm sticking with my original plan of 600/700 safe bet.

I installed 5.12's latest from ATi
Tried HL2, and Battlfield 2 both get white sparkles unless i lower core to like 400mhz
So I know its the card.
Put the voltage on the core to 1.1V. I got some wierd effects on the card at stock in AoEIII but I put the voltage there it worked fine.. All other games I tried worked fine at stock though.Quote:

Think there was a few that RMA'ed there cards.... Must of just been a bad batch type thing. Hopfully you get a nice new card though soon.
Decided to try a couple new bios files - I tried 3 in all. 1 XT Regular bios, 1 XT PE bios, and 1 XT 256mb bios. All had the same results I had before. I was able to boot into windows with no problem - but windows did not recognize the card at all. It used the VGA driver. ATItool showed 600/700 as the clocks - could not view volts due to its inability to recognize the card. ATI driver reinstall did nothing.
Apart from being stupid and trying my luck as 2nd and 3rd time, I can at least for my sapphire X1800 XL card confirm that an XT bios will do no good. Kind of like watching a horror film waiting in anticipation of whether the thing would boot again...and pretty stupid...
I bet problem is that on XT you can set 2D and 3D clocks, and on XL we cant, maybe because of that it doesnt want to install driver correctly. But from what i see .. on XL and on XT its not really problem to set +125Mhz on GPU from default clocks, but not really more. Too bad watercooling didnt improve overclock, only temp.
Do you have a X1800 XT 256 MB bios ? i realy would like to try it. It seems my card can only handle 1.125v i think that i i flash the XT the card will to 1.3 or will not start @ all. I hope the first thing. Otherwise i will buy a R580 as soon as it's availble.Quote:

I can clock 560-612 @ stock and that are the speeds i'm running. Voltage tweaking is not working probaly. I would like real volt mods. To see if the core is realy the problem.
You guys, it's not coincidence that these things don't work properly at what you are pushing them to. It's the same deal with CPUs that are in the same family. Some become 2800xp's and some become 3200xp's, it just depends on how well the physical characteristics of that particular chip clock. XT cores that can't do XT speeds, become XL's. They all come from the same platters.
They might come from similar silicone but that doesn't mean the processes are different. Thats why XL's have the A14 process and the XT's have the A15's currently.Quote:

I have one that someone gave me access to, but I am not sure if I can make it public. I will ask him if he minds if I pass it along. I tried a few more times with the different ones I have - same result each time. I did read that the 600/700 I am seeing is the default 2d clock - only problem is the ATI driver does not recognize the card.Quote:

Decided to try another bench with the 5.12's and my X2 set to 2700 on a cold boot. Got a good score out of it: 10256. Looks like a pretty good score posted on orb for the X2 4400. It beats a lot of the XT scores posted up there.
I would never play at this clock as I am sure it is unstable in the long run - but fun to hit non-the-less.

my card was working at 630\1330. now i found it easy to rase mem up to 1500 and maybe even higher (2.3V)... but the core... smth wrong with it... now i can't even see it working normally at 600(!!!) mhz... voltages are the following : 1.175\2.3\2.0 In the last benchmark they were 1.225\2.0\1.998. I don't know what to do.. i've already reinstalled WinXP in REPAIR mode, reinstelled the driver (5.13b), AtiTool, AtiTraytools (i hate CCC!!!)... And all it was in vain:( guys, need help! Now i can't set voltage to 1.2 and higher - 2dm05 hangs in the end of the first test!
