Well i think i found my max, 325x8 is my max with my tccX (assuming its actually 5 though) at 2.3,3,3,7 at 2.9 vdimm. This is with 2T, i can get into windows with 1t but it cant complete superpi so i dont use it. I have to say that i pretty much love this mobo. I want to try some more ocing but i just want a stable system for a while first.
i cant wait till abit fixes this 1t issue, then i can procede with my a64 rig :-)
Anyone know where to check the vdimm with a DMM on this board. AbitEQ reads 3.23v when I set it to 3.3v in the bios. :confused:

Hmm anyone having hard drive issues.... My an8 sli seems to have killed 3 drives in 1 month as of late mind you im at stock speed right now to figure out the issue and the last drive kicked the bucket at stock. So far it has eaten 2 WD raptors and one WD caviar 80 gig all emit the same problem when they die windows freezes and upon reset reboot I get the old familiar katunk katunk katunk that my soyo kt dragon 333 used to do to all my hard drives.........Think its time to install My an8 Ultra board as I've put this SLi board through alot of torture......
did the an8 ultra cause any hdd issues? Cause I've just purchased one lol! Don't want to have a 74gb raptor die on me...

A little update on my hard drive problem. I installed my fatality so as overclocking wouldn't be an issue in my hard drive issue quest and well the problem still exists. So now I'm in the process of determining the cause. Here is the symptom that my comp exhibits. I leave it running 24/7 so when it goes into sleep mode it never wakes back up. Upon reset or power down hard drive is not recognized and goes katunk katunk katunk. Now as of right now im ruling the hard drives as not the issue as i ran a WD diagnostic in a known good computer/ motherboard. Apparently after i format the drives in the known good computer they work fine again. So now I'm in the elimination process. I have also ruled out the particular motherboard as the issue reappeared in my fatality. So now I've got it narrowed down to either a Bad corporate copy of win 2k, possibly a psu( antec neo 480) or bios related issue. have flashed back to bios 13(old faithful) from 16 to see how it goes.
On another note my fatality seems to be my most stable and fastest board at stock speeds......regardless of bios.
This MOBO is designed for gamer and overclockers? LOL ... L..O..L.
At first when I just got it all was running fine except for a weird behaviour when I was pushing things. Instead of errors in super-pi, BSOD or reboots the whole thing just shut off.
I decided to give it a try in my gaming PC. The plan was to run a nice 3700+ with 2x512 OCZ EB. 270*11 with RAM at DDR333 2.5-2-2-6
The 3700+ does 2800Mhz with stock cooler and volts on a DFI and MSI Neo. With the Fatl1ty AN8-SLI even 235*11 will make the computer just shut off. When im surfing, gaming or what ever.
I have tried different PSU, RAM, CPU, BIOS etc.. same :banana::banana::banana::banana:ing problem.
This MOBO is crap... I thought I´d give Abit ONE more chance. This was it... so long Abit.
One advice for you Abit, drop the uGuru :banana::banana::banana::banana:... its uGuru this and uGuru that. uGuru front panel, uGuru 3rd eye ..uGuru uGuru uGuru.. and the stoopid red lights and design. Concentrate on designing a WORKING motherboard, and not a lot of childish toys and other crap.
EDIT: Im am now running everything stock. Damn you Abit for making me do this. A nice 2800-2900Mhz San Diego, and I am forced to run stock because I was dumb enough to buy a 1800.- NOK gaming and overclocking motherboard. (1800.- NOK is $280)
your shutdowns could be contributed to running a 1t command rate .......a known issue.........
Give me one motherboard that doesn't have strange issues on it's extreme. I know of none there right now for S939 PCIe solution. (oh Asus IS stable and do things but it just doesn't get extreme)

I want a good mobo with no issues at xtreme :) Last one I had was Gigabyte KN8, one before was... Asus P4C800Dlx... It is surprising I can only count 2 that I really liked out of some 13-15 diff mobos I went through in that time frame.
Well I reflashed to bios 13 shut power off shut psu off removed battery set jumper to clear cmos for an hour and now shes back up running fine and pulling herself out of sleep mode again. So far so good will leave on overnight and report any issues.
235-240 HTT is not what I call extreme. Hell, even Asus A8N-SLI pulls it of without problems.Quote:

I dont think its running 1T thats causing it. I have done 260-265 2-2-2-5 1T with my BH5, but that was for benching and not normal use like surfing and gaming.
Could it be its 1T combined with 2x512? At 260 1T I was running 2x256.
Anyhow.. not beeing able to run 235-240 1T is BAD. My RAM was running on DDR333 divider, so its not even 200Mhz on it.
oh well... back to the Asus which can only run 235 HTT. Atleast its stable at 235 HTT.
And yeah.. Abit, you suck.

Judging from the rest of this tread it looks like you have got a "good one". There are way to many ppl having problems with running ~240 1T
BTW: What happens when you push it? BSOD / Reboot, or does it shuts itself off?
the board is stable at 300+ htt and so is the memory its just my cpu's suck so far. wont prime past 2500 on any of the boards i have including non abit boards. however I was 100% game stable prime stable at 10x250 with bh-5 at 2-2-2-6-1t with a x4 htt multi and was also game stable at 9x300 with tccd at 2.5-4-3-6-1t with a 3x ht multi. If i really hammered on my clawhammer i think i got it to 2800mhz but the cpu was far from stable.
I will say this again and for the rest of you bios 13 is the one and only stable bios as of yet bios 16 is close but close only counts in horseshoes and handgrenades
You may be right I may have got a "good one" but a good 3? i can produce the same results on all 3 of my boards mind except my fatality cant do high vddr volts so bh-5 excluded but otherwise the an8-sli and an8 ultra and fatality all clock about the same for me.
Cpu would just bsod and reboot on me killed an OS once shooting for 2.9 gig but like i said i havent got the magical 2.7 at near stock volts on air cpu yet.

BTW: Anyone tried running a PCI Sata controller? I cant load OS with my SI 3112 controller installed. As soon as I take it out, everything is just fine.
formann you are obiously having the 1T issue...just drop it to 2T until it's fixed or stick to 2T and 2% performance penalty.....you are wasting your time trying to get it stable at 1T.....it is a known issue so no point going stupid over it really
Meh I couldn't help myself so since my hard drive issue seems to be gone I proceded to Oc my fatality( with lackluster OC options) and so far up to 2.5 gig already priming. Using a memory divider of course but hey what the hell. And NOOO I'm not sticking the booster back in it guys :P
