that's the ticket..thanks!

welp my raid just failed last night. 2 sea's, one raptor, and a 250 wd. I had the seas in raid 0. very unstable, at stock clocks or the mild oc i have. I swapped out my gskill with some brand new corsair 6400, both sets check out fine in my other board. tried to reinstall windows a few times in diffrent configs, no matter what on any drive ACHI/or raid will lock up with current iiachi/iastor drivers. IDE mode works fine though, so anyway not the end of the world. I only had 1.62v in the SB with plenty of cooling on pwm/SB/and a fan on NB. This all started after trying the beta B03 bios, prolly got unlucky, seems most have no problem with this bios, i flashed back too 14 carefully.
be warned~
ohwell was gonna prolly pick up a gigabyte or the ix38 for xmas
Which Raid are you using? Intels or JMicron's? I have a Raid 0 array and I used intels, i first tried to use the other one, but my system crached while installing windows. I also just purchased a PCI RAID card. I wanted to put my two IDE's on a promise raid as well. But I always like to have one single drive to back everything onto.
I still have not updated my bios, was going to do it this weekend. Just no time.
joshuaboston:
i'll give you a tip on overclocking...always a good idea when starting out to overclock is to leave your voltages at default and just raise your FSB in increments of 10-20 Mhz to see if it will post to boot...go into windows and do some chores to see if you get any screen freezes, BSOD or a random reboot.
use Uguru to raise your FSB in 10 or 20 Mhz increments...you can run wPRIME bench; particularly the 1024M stability bench to see if your system is stable...that particular test (about 6 minutes to run) will find if you have a weakness in voltages like vcore, mch, ichio and vmem.
get it here: http://www.wprime.net/download.html
STRICTLY A SUGGESTION FOR GETTING 3.6MHZ...MIGHT BE OVER DONE ON SOME VOLTAGES...EXPLORE UP OR DOWN.
ace many thanks to you and myerz635 for help,i am a 50 yr old thrying to learn dos i have no problem with hands on, are oc or building compu.i need more time with dos. i got into the bios and keep saying (source file not found) ant idea!!!!!!!! help
myerz635, my runme.bat looks the same.
yes ace it was typo thanks.
no idea what is your problem...you need to get someone to come over to your place to show you how to work DOS...or, do a web search for a step by step guide on typing DOS commands...if you add a space or do not add one, it will or can make the action fail...formatting has to be correct at every step for a successful completion...for now, don't try it until you get someone side by side to help you or you read up on it.
Thank you Ace.
Fast quesitions...
Crucial says my memory runs at 4-4-4-12 at DDR800 at 2.2V. Should I set these numbers manually? Cause Abit has my settings at FSB:2:3 5-5-5-5-18 at a Frequency of 408.0Mhz per CPU-Z and at 1.8V.
Before I do what you say regarding finding out my highest FSB at stock, I am going to set my ram to Crucial Specs and install the latest beta bios with a floppy per your link.
Last thing... You once told me to turn off C1E and EIST in the bios... should I keep those two things on or off for the test you suggest I do?
thanks ace.
I thought I would share a working 8x450 OC. This is with an E6750 (g0 stepping) Solid as a rock so far.

Like Ace said, every motherboard and every cpu is different, so you may need more or less volts.
hi scope66,
Air you using Air or water to cool your system? I am using a GeminiII Cool Master with two 1350 RPM Yates fans. But thanks for those specs, even though I have a Q6600 :)
I have the Zalman 9700 NT (air) Temp under full load (small FFT's in Orthos) is around 52 Celsius.
What I did is I set up the 8x450 under "User 1" in uGuru, and I have the default set at 8x400 with less volts. I just kick it up for gaming or any other intensive tasks by switching to User 1.
leave thos timings alone until you get your overclock to where you want it...once that happens...start tightening up the timings to see if they will hold up under the overclock.
any time you overclock, it is a good idea to eliminate variables that can be induced by C1E and EIST.
ace thanks again, i found my mistake,i was using to much space with the swithes. flash beta 16,B03 was a sucess!!!!!!!!!!!!
hey maybe someone here can help me with my boot problem
Q6600
ip35 pro
4gig crucial ballastix tracer
ocz gamexstream 700w
(3870)
3870's is being shipped atm so it's in parenthesis
so after putting together everything, my computer is not booting completely
when i turn my computer on, it boots up and makes a sound like it's reading hdd but after a few seconds, it instantly reboots and same thing happens over and over again
according to POST, it's displaying 8.7. and apparently it means
Check the CPU Voltage
did i install something wrong? i mean why should i check the cpu voltage when i have yet to touch anything??
another thing is that untill my 3870 arrives, i have no means of display so i can't check up my CMOS setting
what should i do?
thanks
Need some help. I just got my Ip35 pro and 4 new maxtors (seagate 7200.10). Now the maxtors are hooked up to sata ports 3-6, and a dvd burner is hooked up to sata port 1. The problem is in the BIOS it is only reading 2 of the maxtors, I've switched around the sata ports already, the maxtors are all fine and the boards sata ports all work, but depending on where I hook up the maxtors only two of them are identified. any help plz?
-edit I am such an idiot, sry people lol. one of the power cables going into the Corsair PSU was kinda loose and wasn't all the way in.
Next year when I get a Penryl I will want to OC to 450 fsb. Will this be possible on this MB with DDR 800 mhz memory ?
Yes,
This is my understanding... (and I am a begginer, so I may be wrong), you can always set the memory speed to what you want based on the options given in the bios of the motherboard. The options are based on ratios. I can tell you that there are better ratios then others to reach your overclock max and the ratios are directly related to the speed of the CPU and speed of the memory.
The rest is to go to your bios and see what options you have.
AND this...

And Ace added thta the 1333 memory strap is the easiest to overclock.
I don't know if DDR2800 could achieve a 3.6Ghz overclock at a 1:1.2 ratio? Can anyone answer that? Or do you need DDR21066?
ace a rue what voltage are you running ur proc at that spd?
real time is 1.55v
EDIT:..that is not P95 stable...it's good enough for everyday apps.
I've updated to the new beta bios. THANK YOU. I was running bios vers. 14 before, I thought it was the newest.
All I can say is CPU-Z always showed a multiplier of 6 and now it shows the correct multplier of 9.
Time to start increasing the FSB.
I am going to increase using the Guru.
So I am at work now, so I can't tell you may exact settings. But I was able to run that 1024 WPrime test and I pass, but I fail OCCT in about two minites. I am running at 3.6Ghz with temps at load about 33 and during prime it goes up to 52, I don't think that is to hot?
I'll try to post my results later and maybe you can give me some suggestions to make it more stable with OCCT.
Thanks.
if you can pass the 1024M test that will get you through most demanding applications except for folding and some gaming apps...all prime 95 does for you is to say you can pretty much hack folding 24/7...even then i've heard of cases where the guy said i was P95 stable but my folding quit on me after 'X' hours.
you will find many P95 addicts in this and other forums but to me, it is a waste of time AND electrical energy to do OCCT or P95 if you are not going to do folding...only in that application and maybe a few games you need to know if your system will hack it and only then, it pays off to run those programs.
Thank you Ace. I still would feel alot better if OCCT passed. I don't understand what you mean by "folding", I also am confused when you say my system will hack it? I don't understand fully, can you explain it in baby terms :). I usually google stuff I don't undestand but in both of these cases I google was no help.
OK, still at work. But I started to up my volts to try and get it more stable in OCCT, at first it did not start for a second, then I got it to 30 seconds, the last time I ran OCCT I managed to get to a full 2 minites :).
But I do understand what you mean by a waist of electricity. I will post you what I did, and maybe you an give me your two cents.
I was about to post yesterday about what I did, but my system crashed just before I hit the submit reply button, after that I just started increasing everything, lol....
Thanks Again for your help.
On a personal note... what is your CPU temp? what is your system temp? Thanks.
This is what I'm getting at. It looks like you can't run the memory lower than 1:1 with this MB.
So if I want to run 450 mhz FSB, I would need memory that can do 900 mhz.
I don't think my Crucial Ballistic 800 mhz can do that. So a Penryl upgrade next year becomes pretty expensive to make it worthwhile.
Hi Again,
1st off is there a post to show me how to upload a picture?
So this is my settings. 400MHz, 9 x multiplier, Vcore 1.4450, MCH 1.44, CPU VTT 1.23, ICH 1.15, CPU GTLREF (both) 1-4 69%, DDR2 2.250, ichio 1.6 and DDR2 Ref 2%.
Any suggestions? Should I tunrn anything down? Or should I turn anything up?
Memory is at DRAM frequency 480.0 Mhz, FSB:DRAM 5:6 ratio, 5-5-5-18
Prime was 410, Thansk again.
Whats funny is I installed the latest beta bios, and I don't see the drop anymore? I am actually worried!!!! I know I can even lower my Vcore and still pass the prime 1024 test.
It just sounds so high at 1.4925. Isn't the point trying to find your Stable Max with the lowest settings? Man you electric bill must be going throught the roof... lol...
But tonight I will definately try the voltage you recommend and I will run OCCT to see if it lasts any longer. Currently Crashes just under 2 minites. What is your CPU temps? Are you using air or water?
My goal is to have a VERY healthy stable speed. I would be thrilled to have 3.6Ghz. I kind of don't want run my computer on MAX because I feel it would just lower the life of it by "too much". But I would also be thrilled with 3.7GHz :)
I just set my FSB to achieve 3.6Ghz, I feel I could go much higher if all I had to do was pass Prime.
I have not touched my memory settings besides the Vcore. Once I am happy with my clock speed and system I will try to tighten up the memory a little. My ballistix posts at 1140DDR2 levels, but when I increase the FSB past 3.4Ghz, I have to lower the ratio so it will boot, hence, I have a 5:6 ration.
I am confused, which mobo do you have? The Abit Pro P35 ratios can be adjusted. You might be able to hit 4..05Ghz with a 5:6 ratio. I think your DDR2 speed could go up to about 1100DDR2 speeds. I know my tracers post no problem at 1140DDR2. But I don't know how to calculate the speed of your memory if you did a 4.05Ghz OC at 5:6 ratio. If I remmember correctly, at 3.6Ghz my memory does DDR2 975.
Good Luck.
I am using air with a low speed yate loon 120mm fan on my tru extreme. Temps under load are in the low 60s. Passes OCCT for an hour but can still fail prime after 4 hours or so. Here is what I had on my p5k deluxe before it died http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...postcount=1106
is it just me or 1:1.2 ratio on this mobo does not work? I have 2x1gb crucial balistix, which I ran on 975x 1000+mhz, however, on this mobo the only way to get to 3.6ghz is 1:1. If I choose 1:1.2 the PC just freezes in windows randomly.
where are you from joshua?:)
HACK IT = run or operate without any problems.
FOLDING = http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...ad.php?t=33126
as far as OCCT or Prime 95, i understand and i tell people don't waste more than an hour on it unless you have demanding games that rely on the cpu a lot or you do folding for XS or whoever.
Thanks for the folding info. Well, I will not be folding, just to scared to let another system to have access to my computer.
But I do play games and if a 3.6Ghz crashes my computer during game play, I will definately lower my FSB or change my voltages.
Hey Ace,
Do you think i should change any of my settings? Higher or Lower? Just trying to get your opinion and I know you really don't have any answers but I do value your opinion regardless if my system can handle it or not.
And thank you again for all your help. I already feel I have learned ALOT!!! So happy to have this Forum.
bleh I'm getting frustrated. For some reason I can't make any uguru changes in the bios. I can change almost everything in OS, but multiplier and ram dividers I have to do in the BIOS. Every time I make a uguru change in bios, the machine attempts to restart and shutsdown and restarts with a reset bios all by itself. I can't just change 9x to 8x and leave everything else alone!!!
This is just a suggestion. Uninstall it. And download the guru utility from United Kingdom... http://www.abit.com.tw It worked for me.
Good LUCK.
what bios are you using?
if you are using the latest beta, then clear CMOS with the battery out for about 5 minutes...now, go into the bios and load default settings, save, and now re-enter the bios to make all your appropriate changes.
I was using Bios14 that came with the board, then it went really bad at one point and would not accept any changes anywhere in the bios, so I reflashed it with Bios14 that I downloaded. It worked for a bit. I've gotten some uguru settings to stay put by changing them, saving the changes in the bios profile and loading the profile from a clean reset. This will actually boot through about every other time. But the other time the machine tries to boot then shutsdown then tries to boot again but no screen and the bios code stays stuck at 90, which is the code for uguru is switching control over to the award bios, then I have to use the jumper... I've already reset the damn time and date in windows over 10x. And I'm not even overclocked yet!!!
Exact same thing happened to me when I first got this board. I managed after many attempts to program the bios to let me boot off a USB stick, and then I flashed the 16 beta 3 bios (Ace has it in his sig)
definitely want to remove all power, pull battery, clear cmos, etc, and load setup defaults after the flash.
also, make sure your RAM has enough volts (set it manually to match ram specs) and I would go for an underclocked 1:1 ratio until you can get it stable, especially BEFORE you flash the bios.
How is the beta bios? also would I need to reinstall my fresh copy of vista after flashing?
I got my board two weeks ago and also had bios 14. I find this new bios MUCH better. I find it more stable, even when I am not overclocking. My Vcore drop has also has gone from .09 to .02 it jumps between 1.39 - 1.41 (mostly stays at 1.39 and jumps up to 1.41 for a secon and goes bock to 1.39 for few seconds) in Uguru, before it use to jump around like CRAZY with huge jumps. These valuse are when I am at idel. I have my Vcore actually set in the bios at 1.4550.
Just flashed to Ace's 16B03 bios. My raid boot time dropped from 14 seconds down to 8 seconds! I didn't think that would be affected. I don't understand what these "switches" are even when I followed your guide. I only changed the bios name and it flashed, was I supposed to change some other parameters?
Also, this bios is allowing my ram to boot at 590 mhz with 4 sticks in when I couldn't even barely get 560 to boot with 2 sticks. CPU overclock is noticably higher. Seems to have jumped about 100mhz. I could barely get orthos to run at 4030mhz for a second or two. Now 4120 mhz runs for several minutes. But something does seem flakey with orthos. I get usb/mouse lockups even as orthos still runs at 3950 overclocks that were stable on my bios 10. Maybe because of the 4 sticks in. Uguru temp seems too low at idle now, but I could care less about that since I've got a thermistor under the cpu itself measuring the temp.
16.B03 is not my bios...that came from Bingo13 with Anandtech website...he receives those beta bioses directly from abit...he worked with them to tune that bios to the optimum...you need to thank Bingo13 for his hard work with getting abit to tweak that bios...without Bingo13, we would not have the best P35 board out there!
Hello
I have one question.. Can I flash this beta bios from windows tool.? And what I must do to do in bios, to be flash ok?
do not use windows to flash a bios...to many horror stories of it going bad using that method...follow my flashing bios procedure link in my below signature.
I have floppy the next problem is.. I don't have two floppy disc.. And i don't now how rename bios and other stuff... Your guide going to be better when you have pcitures too... For some people don't now lash bios...:)
i just flashed my bios to the b03 beta using aces guide with a usb drive.
works great.
thank you for such a detailed guide.
Make your boot floppy with drdflash ftp://ftp.veracomp.pl/mirror/abit/pu...s/drdflash.exe
Add the awdflash utility from an official bios pack and the beta bios file to the floppy. You don't need to rename it! Those are the only files you need on the floppy.
Set your bios to boot from floppy 1st and when the A prompt comes up, type: awdflash M629B_16.b03 /py /sn /wb /cd /cp /cc /cks /r
Sit back and wait. Don't do anything until it finishes and restarts. After it restarts turn the power supply off for a minute and then back on and your good to go. No go and re-setup your bios because it will be back at default.;)
Ok, a few minutes later I'v propely done.. I'm happy now..
And next think is OC.. With 12 beta bios a can do 4ghz with €6600, maybe with new one can I pass 4,1ghz:cool:
Thanks all
edit: I have problem.. Now i have Uguru 3104 but i want to switch to 3106.. And here is a problem. I unistall old verison, and instal new verison, but still write 3104? Is that a bug or what I'm doing wrong
Any1 have a Changelog for BETA 16.B03 BIOS?
Already flashed, but nothing seems different. Lol.
Looks like 16.B03 is not compatible with OCZ memory. I've upgraded bios to this version, and now I'm getting C1-error :(. I'll have to find some other memory module and downgrade to 11 version of bios...
Guys, I planning to buy two HIS Radeon 3850 For install in my IP35 pro...dose anyone tried crossfire with this mainboard here? is it worth it to put another same card in 4x PCI-E and using Crossfire? dose it affect in performance greatly?
Has anyone been able to run a raid set while also running a HDD that is not in a raid set?
I'm having some serious problems here... I have enabled raid to run my 2 raptors in raid 0 and everything has been fine w/ no problems. Today I installed a new HDD by itself and tossed an OS on there.
after instalation of the new os, I re-enabled raid and set my single drive as primary boot device. Wouldn't boot. It got to the windows loading screen then bsod. did this over and over till I gave up.
I changed my primary boot device back to my raid array and I can't get into windows. its FUBAR
So now i'm trying to recover data, but i think it's a lost cause at this point...
My question remains... after I put my messed up life back in order, is there a way to run a raid set AND a non-raid HDD???
did you detach your raid array while running setup on the single drive?
what bios setting did you use when running setup on the single drive?...IDE or AHCI?
Yes I disconnected mmy raid drives while installing the OS on the new drive, and I had it set on IDE.
then after reconnecting my raid drives, i put it back on raid
does it with 2 sticks aswell. I thought IDE was stable, but i get lock ups now also, i set the fsb to 333, mch 1.29, vtt 1.23, vdimm 2.125 with 2 sticks still cant get intel raid to work anymore. I tried my other working psu, no go still same problem, memory is error free on a diffrent board. I sent in for cross ship with ABIT, they have the worst RMA dept, its like one guy working there and he doesnt answer his phone or emails at all, the site said they charged my credit card wedesday, but i have yet to get any mail saying they have shipped my replacement.....getting worried here
did you select the correct drive or raid array to boot in "HARD DISK BOOT PRIORITY" within the bios under "ADVANCED BIOS FEATURES"?
the other thing...to switch between raid array and IDE drive, you need to take it out of the raid mode to boot from a single IDE drive.
I did select the correct drive under boot prority, but had not set it to IDE mode...
Do you think thats what FUBARed my raid array? tying to bot to a single drive in raid mode?
one other question:
If I have to take it out of raid mode to boot from the single HDD, that means I won't be able to access the files on my raid array while I'm in the single drive, right?
is there no way to have both raid and not raid at the same time???
i dont know if we are allowed to post links from other forums but i did find this ip35 pro overclocking guide for anyone who is new to this board/overclocking http://vnboards.ign.com/pc_generalha.../105386368/p1/
no. I booted into the single drive with raid on... That's what f'd it all up, huh?
I'm also having a RAID issue. All of a sudden I get a error message in the boot up screen saying one of my drives have faled (instead of domain name). Don't know how to fix it but my system seems to work fine.
I plan on reinstalling my OS soon. To Vista, I want directx 10 for games. Which Vista should I go to 64 or 32? Do most stuff work on Vista 64? I think everything I have has a 64bit driver.. I just don't know how good it is... but i am leaning towards Vista Ultimate 32bit.
Any suggestions?
About overclocking, I got it stable at 3.6 but I am having a really tough time getting it stable at 3.7. I have settled for 402FSB and I am running about DDR2975 speeds at a 5:6 ration, I am trying to tighten up my timing and have set it at... 5-4-4-12. ACE... I have no clue what I am doing regarding memory timming. Any suggestions? Should I try 4-4-4-12? Or should I be really happy with what I have?
Hi All,
Started putting together a new system with the IP35 Pro, E2180 and Ballistix DDR2-800.
The system originally booted-up quickly. But I realized I should only have one drive attached to install Windows, so I detached my other drives. Since then, the system takes over five minutes to get past the Post screens.
I've cleared the bios, swapped another set of ram but it still takes forever to get to Windows.
Any thoughts?
Update - the boot issues are at 52 - Memory Testing and 75 - USB initialization
Should I reflash my bios?
Ok so I got this so called "motherboard" today (IP35 regular) and it is somehow worse than my MSI. How is that possible you ask? I CAN'T EVEN INSTALL WINDOWS! It hangs at finalizing or whatever every time. 2x 74gb raptors RAID 0 vista x64. Some quick google searching shows that this board apparently doesn't "like" raptors. If I disable raid, windows install doesn't even realize the raptors are connected. HOW DID ABIT PULL THAT ONE OFF? This crap is making ASUS look good. So good, infact, that I'm going to buy a maximus and send this heap back to mwave.
noob. Buy a raid controller.
Hilarious response! Sorry to hear about your problem. I always heed warning and triple check my mb against all other peripherals b4 purchase. But I know it's something that we should not have to anticipate given the money we spend on this :banana::banana::banana:.
i have 2 x 74Gb raptors in RAID 0 and they work fine....i am also using vista 64 bit and i love it, all of the drivers work flawlessly with my components. Afireinside have you flashed to the latest beta bios for that board? http://forum.uabit.com/showthread.php?t=122393 Joshua what kind of ram are you using again, i forget.....you should go up to User CP and create a sig listing all of your system specs. Makes it a lot easier for us to help you! You can try 4-4-4-12 and run memtest86 for about an hour and see if you have any errors....i can help you out further once i know what ram you have
I have a raptor 150gb and it works fine, though it's in ide mode. also a seagate 7200.11 500gb... works too.

The way I did it was put a raid array on ports 1 & 2 and single (non-raid) drives on Ports 3 & 4 with raid mode enabled in the BIOS. When installing to the single drive I disconnected the drives on the other ports and installed the OS on the single dive with raid mode still enabled in the BIOS. You will have to hit F6 and install the raid drivers just like you did on the raid array so the drive will be seen by the OS install. When you boot from the single drive it should see the raid array when you hook those drives back up also.
Just my 2 cent worth.... hope it works for ya.
btw: thanks to all that have contributed to this thread I've learned a lot
Interesting. I was having the same problems after installing sata raid on 3 drives and trying to boot another single sata drive with it's own OS. I had to disable the raid all the time. I'll have to try your way.
is it true on this board you can connect high powered fans to the mobo headers?
just by doing that should not necessairly screw up the boot command or give you a BSOD...i am thinking that you either selected the wrong drive or you did not select the "Intel SCSI Drive (raid drives)" as your first choice to boot from.
the other way to boot off a single drive while still maintaing a Intel Raid Array is to use the Jmicron controller...you will need an older 40 pin IDE drive or a SATA to IDE converter to make a sata drive to work on that controller.
Update - reflashed the bios to the official 14. Still slow boot-up. Flashed it to the beta bios 16b03, still same problem.
Again, it just takes forever to process 52 - Memory Test and 75 - Detect IDE.
Anybody have any thoughts? It was working fine and fast in the beginning. It's also fine when it gets into Windows.
hey guys...PLEASE control the name calling..."fa----" is really an inflammatory word.
nzbleach, "noob" is not a good word either since AFI had like 8000+ posts to his credit and besides, he was probably very frustrated when he made his post.
lets maintain some civility...ok:up:
