The only way onboard video can hurt is if its turned on, in which case it would use up system memory.
otherwise, when properly implemented, there shouldnt be a performance decrease.
now, im not saying that i want onboard graphics, personally i wouldnt pay for it because for the extra price you can get a cheap PCI-E card that performs just as well or better that doesnt take up system memory.
