*New* ABIT Fatal1ty AN8-SLI = 3.55V Vdimm

This 1T issue everyone talks about to me doesn't seem like it is an Abit problem. I have ready of many other A64 boards having the same problem. I really want to know what the culprit is for this because if its the venice processors, maybe I shouldn't get one lol. I'm so lost!

This is what I am thinking about getting now since the processor and video card are a combo and I save $20 on them. I am going to be using my other current PC parts with the rest of that. What do you all think?

Well i think it is an abit problem as i have tested all my components on all my other systems and they all handle 1t with out a hitch, Hell even my chaintech board handled it better then the Abit and the chaintech is almost half the price??

Your system looks good shoud be a big performance upgrade coming from what you have in your sig

i'm on water 2.8Ghz OCd 24/7...no probs with chipset.....i only have a fan on RAM as running UTT that's it....just get an ultra

Plus, I just can't stand the look on that kid's face .. Makes me want to place a thumbnail picture of that mug @ Abit’s site on the bulls-eye of a target next time I go to the range... a .45 round should just about cover it, lol (j/k ;) ) :toast:

Im using a dangerden setup on an AN8 ultra (non fatality). The silent nb cooling works well but I added a small fan blowing onto the mosfet sinks and the passive cooling part. Temps are now great, the nb stays below 35C.

Weird. Like I said from all my reading it seems that it's either a hit or miss depending on if your board likes you or not. I have read many people with AN8-Ultra or SLI's running 1T with a high HTT without any problems as well. Not sure if it was on this forum or not.

This board is really weird :confused:

When I change the DDR voltage from Auto-Detect (2.6V) to 2.8V the computer become unstable and shut down before loading Windows :slapass:

I don't understand this :(

I think I'll get a DFI :(

BTW: I know some replaced the thermal pad with some AS -- and I believe one person had some problem with it (most likely just a misalignment issue). Did any of you end up removing the thermal pad for some AS? I'm not a big fan of thermal pads in all honesty. But if it works, I’ll leave it be.

It's like an OVP that don't allow me to use more than to 2.6V :confused:

If I use more than 2.6 my system just shut down

I had many boards and this is the most strange of them

I just can't understand this issue with vdim

What bios are you using?

I don't have the AN8 -- yet anyway. But from reading through this, off the top of my head I'd say try another Bios version. Seems like 16 has some issue that are in need of further development. For example, 16 limits the Vdimm to 3.40v vs. 3.55v.

Possibly try 14?

I tried 15 and 16 and both have the same Issue :(

yeah i couldnt find 14 either
I tried 15 but it hosed my OS so i went back to 13 and then 16 (current) and afetr all that flashing lost the 1t ability :(

Are you using 1T for your memory?

Does that bios works with Fatal1ty SLI?

I'm not using 1T :(

I tried with SPD, Auto and manual configured timmings and I have the same issue :(

It has the same name for the file. So should work with Fatal1ty MB's

I was told the 1T issue was fixed in Bios 16...can anyone confirm?

Just a note: I had an strange issue with an NF7-S (SATA problem - would not boot nor would it load windows XP or Win 2K with any SATA HD). I worked with several of these MB’s – all version 2 – and did not have this particular issue with them. I tried different Bios's. No luck. Then, I decided to try another approach before the RMA: I took out the battery, disconnected the PS, hit the power on to make sure to discharge the caps. Then I cleared CMOS. I then booted up with a Win 98 Boot disk, flashed the Bios with a floppy with the 2nd newest Bios. Restarted. Next, I loaded the optimized defaults in the Bios. Restarted. For some reason that worked.

Sounds strange, I know. Worth a try. Either way, I don’t trust Bios flashing in Windows no matter what MB I’m using.

From the look of it, I do not think so - especially with Venice. From reading this post –and others like it anyway. If it does, seems to be sheer luck of the draw. However, I think this is the case for most MB's right now (not all). Should not impact real life performance anyway in most instances.

Well I finally moved back into my house took a year for contractor to rebuild it after the fire and the diff in temps from the toaster box apartment i was in to now is 105f idle 115f loaded now temps are 90f idle 95f loaded. This is with my sandy of course on good water.
