Maximus Extreme - Results/Info/Bios

I'm acutally still playing are with me ME. I can get it to safely do 500x9 with an E8400 @ 4.5GHZ and 2GB STT 1800 7 7 7 20.

What BIOS is best for OCing for your guys?

What is the advantage os the latest custom BIOS, simri?

Well I’ve had this setup since 2008 and never touched it's potential
I have NO clue how to overclock its something that I have never thought of doing as I’m scared ill fry my system i was recommended to OC to get more life span out of the system.
Also which link is the best to use for the latest BIOS? can't seem to find nowt on Asus site
& do you guys use any of the software provided with the motherboard that i should have installed? :P

hi, i own a Maximus Extreme (bought it used)+ e8400 + 4x1 GB Patriot Viper DDR3 cl 8-8-8-24 at 1866MHz 1.9volt sticks now for some days but i cannot run at 1866MHz: i managed 1459 at 8-8-8-24 CR1t which is LinX stable. but when i go higher than 1500 CR2t no more windows booting. i can post and start memtest86 at ~1660 but memtest would crash 100% in test#3.
i deactivated all dram features, and also relaxed transaction booster and clock twister.
my volts are:
NB=tried all the way up to 1.73v (i do watercool it, it always stayed well below 50°C), also tried all different dimm volts up to 2.05v, and all kind of CPU GTL vs. NB GTL, PLL i have at 1.54 setting (which seemst o be 1.61v)
FSB Termination i tried everything from 1.40v to 1.50v (more i am afraid of trying since my e8400 is 45nm E0 stepping and i do not want to kill the cpu)
e8400 was alway underclocked with higher Vcore (=1.40v) to exclude it from being unstable, but nevertheless i cannot get the RAM to work at its rated frequency of 1866MHz, i tried also 2x1GB sticks only to not stress the memcontroller, but no go.
i tried also FSB up to 525MHz with different ram dividers or FSB straps,e.g. Strap=200 is very good for posting at 1860mhz but would lock up immediatly, when i use a strap of 266/333 i have hard times to get it even to post...
any ideas?

Has anyone had flaky results from this board. I will OC it, it will run for awhile (completely stable), and then nothing will get it to pass prime (until a few hours of playing with settings goes by).

If I keep it auto (with the exception of Memory Volts) it is relatively stable, it works great! No problems...
