short answer - yesQuote:

When I bought this board, I thought I could vary fan speed as a function
of CPU temperature. However, if I set fan to 'silent' or 'performance' all it does
is lower my fan speed, it's as though I just inserted a series fixed resistor.
Speed remains constant regardless of CPU temp. In 'optimal', the fan runs
at full speed always, again, no relation to temp.
The P5W DH, P965 DQ6, and AW9D MAX all have intelligent fan control, as
temp rises, the fan speed also rises, and I expected the same from the
P5B. Is there something wrong, like a setting that
needs to be addressed, or is this just the way it's designed to work, no
'intelligent' fan control? Also, same question for the P5B deluxe.
P.S.
If fan is connected to CPU header, then fan runs at full speed regardless
of fan control profile or temp., the 'fan control' does nothing at all.
I'm very disappointed because the performance of this board is fine, just as good as the others I mentioned at a fraction of the price. But the lack of fan
control is a deal breaker, it goes back if I can't get it to work.
My E6600 @ 3734Mhz orthos stable for 10+ hours before i stopped it, but everytime i do 3Dmard 05, it reboot at the CPU test. I reduce the The CPU to 3680MHz and it runs fine.Quote:

Had the same thing a few pages back, try raising Northbridge voltage, that solved my problem. If i set Nvoltage to 1.55 i have PCI-E 1x, with 1.65 it's 16x, hope that the next Bios fixes this as the mobo gets pretty hot.Quote:

Seems to be working good for me with RC2 (64-bit)...Vista installs its own HD audio drivers - but has the front and rear microphone ports confused.
It doesn't detect a mike plugged into the front ports, but does detect the one in the rear but thinks it's a front port. Nevertheless, recording works in audio recorder but not in Skype...(if you play try putting the HD audio into Vista mode - there actually is an option in the 711 BIOS)
I also just tried the SOundMax drivers - can't get them to install even in compatibility mode.
Well, we know those drivers need work...hopefully they will get some out for Vista soon.
I've been trying something :D

and I made it :)
voltage 1.100v undervolt= 0.5v that means 1.05v :D
stable with orthos for 16h.
my temps with box:
before:
idle 40 load 56
now:
idle 35 load 45
I'm building custom made water coolin so this will work for now. :)
But I have one problem... when I thurn on computer it gives me an error: over voltage problem. I press F1 to resume and everything's fine. How to bypass that error?
and one more thing :D
I can't run dual super pi 32m ... I can run only one and the other says "not convergent in sq..."
Make two maps both containig a spi.exe. Open them and start should do..Quote:

I noticed AHCI was VERY slow with Vista default drivers on the Jmicron (extracting zip files at 5mb/s), so I tried switching back to IDE and rebooting. Vista just reset once it got to loading screen. Tried to switch back to AHCI and got a BSOD.
Now that I am back in XP I can see that the Vista partition is well and truly hosed.
Bleedin' edge baby, bleedin' edge...
that helped :toast:Quote:

done, it doesn't work. CPU-Z always shows the Link Width x1 (now with all options in bios in auto too :confused2 )Quote:

When i boot my comp, it says pc4300 in my bios. Isn't it suppose to show somthing like pc6400 ?
What i basically did was
1. set the ram manually via spd (4-4-4-12)
2. vdimm - 2.0V
3. memory frequency - 712Mhz (the first option below auto)
4. FSB - 356 X 9
Why ?
Conroe e6600
Asus P5b Deluxe Wifi
G.Skill pc6400 2GBHZ
XFX 7900GT
320GB SATA
120GB IDE
Zalman 9500CPU Cooler
Antec NeoHe 500W
Problem solved (in my case :D )! :banana3:Quote:

Has i wrote before....in my case, i think it was a bios chip problem! My old mobo, after flashed to 0711 and have x1 bus problem, i downgrade to bios 0614 again, and have same x1 bus prob! Other curious thing....after this downgrade i never had the coldboot again! With bios 0614? :stick: :nono: :bsod:
Same "problem" here! In my case, it says PC-5300 when my mems are PC-6400@1000MHz 4-4-4-12! Don't know why! :confused:Quote:

Worked for me - no more 1x pcie boots!
I haven;t even experienced a single 1x boot with my P5B. Have used all available bios and currently have 0711 installed.
I wish I could say the same.... the shipping bios (can't remember now 50something) didn't give me problems, but everyone after that has when trying to OC (and going back to the original didn't work either) ... I have not gone to 711 yet, maybe I'll give it a try.Quote:
