anyone got any data on the CCBWE 0609 FPAWs? i cleared out my CCB1Es of the same stepping, but have these 3 left. evidently the same shipment that my parts came from are sitting in AZ...garrrrr...must resist buying more!
PM would be appreciated.

dave I've looked at your web but seems like its outdated. Also the pricing list is no more on the server (that's what it says, 404). Have you moved it or something? Thanks!

Hi Dave:D
Any signs of more of those CCB1E coming in?
guys, in deference to the rules and regulations of this forum (and my desire to not get banned) please shoot me a PM.

Noob warning!
Hey guys, I have problems getting my 165 0551WMPW to any decent speeds.
Above 230HTT and system wont load XP. I tried with up to 1.45 vcore.
HTx3, ram 266. Decent Antec Neo Power 430W PSU. ASUS A8N-E mobo with the latest bios.
People seem to be getting atleast 2.5 with 1.4vcore with this stepping :/
Also Cpuz and other apps always display the CPU as running at stock, even tho it is overclocked in the bios

Someone called me out on my chip, so I made a screen of where it's at so far, as of this morning. It's nothing really good, but it's something to prove where I'm workin' at isn't total BS. ;) Of course ambient went up 10F today, from 65F to 75F. :( I just can't get a spree of good luck.
That's not true. Two I've tested won't do 2.5 GHz without 1.5V. On air, you'll be lucky to get 2.65-2.7 and 2.7-2.75 on water, 2.8 tops. I wish I had waited and gotten a new 0608. Why does AMD have to release some :banana::banana::banana: stepping in between 2 good ones.Quote:

Dinos22 also put nail polish on his SMD's, before ever putting his chip under phase, and got 11x I believe.

Think it would work on a 170?
i doubt that had anything to do with our chips going nutsQuote:

nice lapping btw.....mine is not even close to that but it's flat enough hehehehe and damn i had blisters for a few weeks after I was done lapping the IHS on its own heheheheh :slapass:
So I have to ask, what color did you guys use on your Opterons? Did it match it's outfit well? :ROTF:
I am getting ready to mount my new Thermalright XP-90C heatsink, but am planning on lapping the two mating surfaces first. I have never done this before, but think I understand the basic concepts. I plan to do the following:
1) purchase wet/dry sand paper in grit ranges from about 600-2000
2) mount the sandpaper on a flat surface
3) progressively work up through the ranges of grit to eventually achieve a mirrorlike finish
4)finish off with some sort of metal polish (I have both Brasso and Autosol paste)
The lapping process will be done by applying light pressure to CPU and heatsink assemblies, doing no more than three strokes at a time in any one direction, and varying direction so as to sand in all 8 points on a compass.
After the final polishing is done, I will clean both mating surfaces using the new two part Artic Silver cleaning solution.
I will apply a super thin layer of Artic Silver Ceramic thermal compound between the mating surfaces to enhance heat transfer.
I have a 20" x 48" x 1" thick piece of plexiglass I was planning to use as a mount for the sandpaper. It is apparently flat (smooth to the touch with no surface abrasions), and has enough room so I can mount all the necessary sandpaper in a row.
My questions are these:
1) Is my plexiglass a suitable surface to work on, or should I get an actual piece of plate glass? Would glass be a flatter/ better surface?
2) Is it safe to lap the IHS while it is still on the processor, or do I need to remove it and then remount it later? I will be using the black foam piece that came with the processor to protect the pins.
3) Is the process as I outlined it essentially correct, or should something be modified?
pink of course :p:Quote:

Seems that the ram and cpu combo are a little sensitive. Any suggestions on how to relax the RAM timming so I can get a decent overclock and still get past system post.
All your timings look about right, I think it is more the motherboard holding you back than the RAM and CPU combo. One thing to try for now though is set a bigger mem divider, until you can afford a better mb
U might wanna look into another PSU.Quote:

I'd post this in the for sale section but i've got no access. So i figured you guys would be the ones interested in this. PM me if you're interested
w00t just recieved my Opty 170 today from the egg. It's an CBBWE 0550 UPMW. I've heard good things about the 0550's can anyone give me a rough estimate of what my OC'ing potential might be? I'm using the stock heatsink right now, but with AS5 applied.
This PSU is rated at 3x 12v@16A.Quote:

I will get rid of this PSU and get a seasonic or enermax.
Aim for 2.6 at stock and maybe 2.8 with a bit vcore bump. Don't go crazy with bolts as that will surely end in a worse OC. With a lot of luck, 2.9 with 1.475v (guesstimate, I've not done my homework by calculating the thread median :) ).
With the stock cooler, I would try to get the most at stock or up to 1.375v but always try to stay behind 45c. If you get a BigTyphoon, then you can add more juice
LOL
I think i got a dud
UPMW's are hit or miss as there saying
some go 3g
some barely do 2.6
mines doing 2.9 with 1.41 right now
but cant get anything prime stable above 2650 with this volts
and heatoutput is too much to gi hiugher onthe volts..
If I had to getss Id say pray for 2.8ish
thats about their margin some 2.9 rare above 3g
Hi.
How is the CCB1E 0609EPAW compared to the CCB1E 0609FPAW ?
They got the "E-version" in my local shop at the moment, should I get one?
I got 2 duds in a row. I've been burning the current one in for about a week with zero gain. It has actually lost stability. If the review for Conroe is good I'll probably sell this now while it's still worth something and wait it out. From a price chart I saw, a 1.86 GHz Conroe will cost about $200. I must have read something wrong.Quote:

Does someone know why CPUz and other similar apps always report the CPU running at stock regardless of what I have set it to in bios?
well, that is quite hard to guesstimate...but if we are comparing the CCB1E 0550VPMW with the CCB1E 0550UPMW the former do perform better.Quote:

Yeah it was my fault, my tubing actually puts upward pressure on the CPU block, I put 6 layers of electrical tape on the part of the socket that sticks out and it's OK now. I will still be selling this one though, hopefully the 170 I get from Monarch is good..
And it still hits 35-37C load at 1.4v, what are you other 0550vpmw watercoolers getting? (or air cooled for that matter)
I am @ 1.525V in bios 300x10 idle 28-30C load 37-39C
The Enermax Liberty 620 W PSU failed in my system again. This time it also ruined my DFI Expert Motherboard and both hard drives. Fortunately, dealer is covering everything under warranty.
Because the dealer is out of stock on DFI right now, I have decided to try the new MSI K8N Diamond+ motherboard. This will be backed by an OCZ 600W Powerstrem PSU, as I will never buy anything from Enermax again:mad:
My Maxtor Diamond Max 10 250 GB hard drives will be replaced with new Seagate 7200.9 300 MB units with 16 MB of cache each.
Stay tuned over the next week as I put the new setup through its paces.

Need a little advice.
I ruined my last opty (165 spmw) by popping the lid. I am now fed up with the temps my 170 0550 UPMW is pumping out (load = 53c @ 1.45 - 280x10) which is stopping me from going any higher. I know these chips run hot but as anyone had any decent temp drops with the UPMW's by going naked on air? If I can get temps back down enough for a few more volts this chip may go to 2.9..even 3 gig. If all removing the IHS is gonna do is lower temps then I wont risk it again but if I can get past 2.9 then would do it.
Opinions plz
Explain please :slobber:Quote:

If that's possible, the voltage drop and IHS removal would end in: 45c @ 1.4 - 280x10. By what you're saying I think 2.9 will be really hard. The most I've read is 6c drop. I'm not saying it's impossible. Good luck!Quote:

there are very, very few dual cores that are doing 3.0 on regular air. the heat load these things put off makes it almost impossible to do. If you have a very cold room, open case, lots of fans, and a very good cpu cooler, you might get there if you have a super golden sample cpu. 1 out of 20,000 or something.
Not saying it can't happen, but 2.9 on air or 3.0 on good water is probably alot more reachable if you get a very good chip!

Its mostly cause those shaving blades cut through the silicone so effortlessly its easy to be careful and still get it done quick.

"This is my very last one of this stepping. I have no way to get any more after this, so that's why the price is so high.
This auction is for 1 Opteron 170 2.0Ghz Socket 939 processor with two cores, each with 1MB cache. The Opteron 170 is 64/32-Bit compatable, Socket 939 w/Hypertransport technology. This Retail box processor is new in box and comes with copper pipe heatsink/fan. 3 year warranty.
There are a few green flakes loose in the case, which is common in these CPUs because of the heavy heatsink/fan unit chipping away at the foam that houses the fan and CPU on the inside of the box. The CPU itself is enclosed in plastic and is not affected by loose foam pieces. This box has never been opened, even though the seal has been broken on the box.

Now at what I assume to be 24/7 stable. 311*9 1.612v (1.57 in CPU-z/MBM5/SmartGuardian/BIOS, 1.550+104%), 4x LDT (I'll try 5x in a sec). I'm gonna start playing around with my BH-5 next and see what I can do with that until I get my Gskill HZ. It ran 1024-4096 in-place dual prime for 1 hour, that's not a complete cycle of the test but it's still suitable for 24/7 use. When I get time I'll run it much longer. Looks like I missed out on the 170 0550VPMW craze, but the new steppings look nice, so when I get around to it I'll sell this thing and try one of these new chips out. :)
EDIT: Screenies coming later or whenever I can be bothered.

Enabled it, boom 280x9 stock voltage no problemo. Will see how high I can get :D Suddenly I feel so much better about this chip.
I was using my computer as normal, and had spent a few hours running Far Cry. Previously, I had spent 2-3 hrs doing research on the internet. Anyway, my friends and I were going out for supper, so I shut computer down.Quote:

So there you have it. I wasn't stress testing it, pushing big volts through it or anything. If I owned one of these power supplies, I would be quite vigilant in monitoring voltages, etc.
The technician at the computer store told me that this was the 4th Enermax Liberty PSU to come in this week, and they all seemed to fail from an overvoltage condition.
I just got my system up and running about an hour ago, and it will probably take me until Monday to do an initial overclock.
I'll let everyone know how the new system is working soon.
I bought another CCB1E 0550 VPMW from this guy , he s absolutely trustworthy , no probs at all..Quote:

Note the half our time difference now, since I played some CS:S last night. :D
IIRC mine does like .975, maybe .95 but I don't remember if it was stable.. I was doing 1.05 last night and got to 2GHz.Quote:

THX for the input! :) good to hear... what vcore are you at for 2.8ghz? and about the temps. I have no qualms about popping the top on this baddie for extra chill. I like my procs topless anyways.. ;)Quote:

Bought this one from eBay so it would be appreciated to let this :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana: live :toast: But I'll keep an eye out... Was it on a grounded thing? (Argh, can't find the english word)
