Please post 7900GT / GTX overclock results

can I ask again (sorry for being a dumbass) can the bios hold the card back.

My card will easily run artifact free at 680mhz core 1830mem but the scores get killed.
I've tried with the core staying high and the mem low and vice versa. Some how I can't get a good match. high core, high mem = good result :confused:

Graham drop the mem clocks to 895mhz ;)

for 7900GT it's like 10mhz on core = 35mhz on mem

loosing 10mhz on mem isn't much to scracrifice :)

Here's my results with 1.55vmod 730 core artifact free...done with 84.21 whql driver...no mem mod.

Why the low mem clock? try 450 in atitool or 900 in coolbits, it should atleast run through a 3dmark with that core speed and you would perhabs break 7k in 06 and 12.4k in 05 ? Or perhabs iam wrong

But nice results none the least :)

My mem don't seem to be as good as others....anything above and it artifacts...and just tried 448 in atitool and my screen started to flicker and i had to restart pc...nevermind can't complain for a standard 7900gt.

Lowered the ram speed helped the core for sure,
yet to find the happy medium yet though. Still over 10k in '05 is ok :D

Yep. You are right. Sorry for my not clear post. In my post - I mean the bounds: the limits for G71 stable work.

600-610MHz it's limit for 1.2V - you can't get more or even equal stable clocks on this voltage in general. Usually we got more stable clocks with 1.2V like 570-590Mhz. I know a few results with 1.2V and 610MHz stable - it's lucky GPU.

690-700MHz it's limit for 1.4V - you can't get more or even equal stable clocks on this voltage in general. Usually we can reach 640-670MHz on this voltage with changed CO. I know several results with 1.4V and 690MHz stable - it's lucky GPU.

720-750MHz it's limit for 1.55V - it's really rare stable results. You can't get more than 720MHz with this voltage and be stable. Usually we can reach 680-700MHz. You should use at least water CO. I know several results with 1.55V and 710-720MHz stable on water - they are really lucky. I know several guys - they can set even 750-780MHz on 1.55V and 3Dmarks passed - BUT with lower resutls due to unstable GPU work.

In general we have lower results: you need lucky GPU and good cooling for reaching limit clocks.

My GPU is at most 545 MHz stable with stock cooling / stock voltage (base is XFX 520)

With 1.5V i am rockstable at 710 MHz all games / all benchs. I can bench without losing GPU cycles up to 740 MHz (depending on the bench). Cooling used for 1.5V is waterchiller set @ -20°c

Cooling solution being overwhelmed? Perhaps forgot to take care of cooling the power regulation circuitry. The instant, you are noticing 3DMark scores go down, you have more than just overclocked too far. A little bit lower setting might also give lower score every now and then. Maybe also check the PSU that its giving out clean voltages with multimeter, and try switching to another. Ofcourse when you are running both the GPU and MEM at very high clocks you are putting in a lot of stress.. usually cant get both very highs, its usually trade off.

Or, Graham, you can use a "binary search algorithm" kind of technique. Assuming 800 on memory is safe value, test it thouroughly and if it passes, do 850, then 875, etc...

If you have a multimeter or even oscilliscope it wouldn't hurt to check the voltages of GPU, MEM, as well as 5V and 12V while its running.

Not likely. If you look more closely you'll see I have a Socket 754 CPU. The lack of dual channel and dual core is killing me in the CPU section.

Hey :) New black PCB from XFX is coming. Does anyone knows anything about these 7900GT's? Overclocking? Memory chips? There are additional capasitor in the power circuit... (please point the label from this capasitor if you have this card) Also, some capasitors were changed (purple labels -> green labels)

Hmm.. that could be better..or worse! Need a better picture and check out the brand, model and values of those capacitors.

just select "only highest score/user" to see it.

Yup, I got the 550Mhz coming in..(yet again from nn-step:toast: )

I've also noticed that they haven't got the XXX Edition in the new flavour...could this be because they have merged the two top versions?

I see two scenarios:
1. They have altered a few things to hold the clocks down to prevent this card to steal away 7900gtx sales. (Nvidia behind it)
3. They have merged the two top performers and added VIVO to the line in a "catch the moment" strategy due to the fiasco of the eVGA top models.

...I pray for the latter.:rolleyes:
