Yeah, saw that the G.skill arent Micron anymore, and i wont take "shot" in order this from irland, i must be sure!
how about the Team Xtream? 1600mhz? they are rated low 1.75v for CL7 1600mhz, maybe micron IC's? anyone knows what MEM ARE micron+ Corsairs?
your best bet at this point is simply stick to Ballistix, they have PC3-12800, PC3-14400, and PC3-16000 kits out. not sure what you can get for prices on those but they are about the only thing for sure to be Micron, adn who knows if that is even gauranteed. the CSX Diablo are Micron as well as they advertise them as D9GTR, but again, not sure on the availability.
Dominator PC3-14400 CL7 aren't likely to be Micron as they haven't been since the ver3.X (http://www.asktheramguy.com/v3/showthread.php?t=68811). not really sure what else to recommend as it changes with every kit people get these days it seems. manufacturers are making every effort to lower DDR3 prices which usually means dropping Micron.
If you want guarantee for Micron GTR/GTS chips, buy CSX Diablo.

Hmm, Ok both thanks for the answers, actually we do have retailers for those Ballistix here in swe, gonna try that first, little more expensive than the G.Skills, but hopefully they will be GTS atleast :) , costs 1700Skr, How well are the Diablo working out the RE ?
a pair of 2x2gb D9GTS can clock better of 2x1gb D9GTR or with 2x1 have best chance to clock better my mems for benchmark ?
I think my HZs are samsung ICs. They can't do 1T @ 400, they also have 2T @400 XMP profile in the SPD, and they don't respond well to volatges at all. I could do 445 7-7-7-18 @ 1.9V but that's the max I could do without erroring out in memtest @CL7 even @ 2.0V. This was on my 790i.I cant' confirm the ICs though as I am afraid to take the HS off.
Sounds like the room needs some ventilation! :D
I just use Print Screen button on the keyboard and crop/save using paint... easy enough
I think I'll be using the dual for gaming since not really all that many games takes advantage from multicore beyond 2 cores... Also 4.3Ghz+ with reasonable voltages on my 8600 is great for single threaded apps (thats most of them on my PC...) :D
Also to be honest I do have to echo the view of others, I feel the 16 Phase PWM is really designed and optimised for dual core processers, and although very much capable, they strain powering quads, and a VDroop of 0.8V backs the theory. With duals everything runs cooler and the whole system just seems to be in a state of harmony...:rofl:
after cleaning and reapplying thermal past to the NB and SB temps are now -10 than b4 its now 36NB 40SB i only had some glass washers so i added that as well to the mounting screws, also a note ASUS did a bad job applying thermal past the NB was only half covered with past :( .
Does anybody else have any problems running memtest with his board. When I run Memtest with everything @ default I get this
http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/937...0330dc8.th.jpg
It was very wierd to see the failing address @ all zeros and with nothing being written @ that address:confused:.So I shelve out $14 to get the memtest from HCI and when I run their memtest I get this.

I don't know whether it's a problem with memtest or problem with the board. Memtest is the very first thing I do whenever I do a new build or whenever I change settings for OC. Do you guys think that I need to RMA my board.I will be out of the country for almost the whole of October, so I would have to act fast if I have to RMA from the egg. Any inputs/help much appreciated.
EDIT: Forgot to mention that the CPU and the memory was tested fine in my 790i
tekjunkie, I seem to remember reading somewhere that if you disable Legacy USB support in bios it fixes that (trying to find where I read that, but can't)
You da man. You saved me a lot of headache RMAing it buddy. Thanks a lot.But after a succesful run of memtest, it made me think. I had my keyboard and my mouse connected to the USB hub on my LCD monitor. I unplugged the USB hub and connected the keyboard and mouse directly to the mobo, enabled the legacy support back up and...

So it looks like some early BIOS issues with a USB hub attached. Maybe the BIOS for some reason recognizes the USB devices as addressable with legacy support enabled .
Yes, sir I am running it off a SATA DVD drive. Thanks for trying to help.
I'm having some trouble with RE and ln2 on CPU and chipset, please check http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=202314 and try to give me some help :P
i would if i could mate but i haven't had a single cold boot issue with the RE and i have had dozens of LN2 sessions with it. never ran a Biostar board with my CPUs either so i can't comment on the differences between them.
both my E8400s and E8600 have no problem booting at their respective cold bugs of -110C/-120C/-120C. this with either 0206 or 0501 BIOSs. i had some issues with 0403 when i tried running it once but chalked it up to something else and went back to 0206.
For me they doing great, havent had a single issue here, except that running 900+ with cas latencey 7 required much more Vdimm when running high fsb.
You can check the thread in the xtreme bandwidth section for results.
You don't need to undress them, just check the s/n.
8xx036xxxxxxx = Samsung, first 3 digits is production year/week, newer than week 30/31 most often means Samsung.
8xx014xxxxxxx = Micron.
I have to say the Samsung worked very stable on this board, haven't had a single issue.
I'm about to boot my Rampage Extreme for the first time, what's the consensus on the latest 'stable' BIOS?
Iīm using the G.skill PC12800 HZ memorys on this board and itīs samsung chip. As mentioned it doesnīt goes high on cas 7 but i can do 8-8-8-24-72 with 2.05v @ 2000mhz without any problems. Using 0501 right now and itīs working good on my q9450. But i have huge problem to get in to windows with 500x8 at any voltage. 450x8 iīm running now with only 1.20v in bios.
i think you misinterpretted my explanation on the serials the 036 and 014 are retail ids not manufacturer.. i.e. newegg sourced Gskill 12800 HZs will have a different number to that sourced from zipzoomfly and they'd be different from say buy.com etc etc
it's a way for gskill to identify where the modules are sourced from
Oh really? My bad then. :slap:
Must be coincidence that i got 036 with Samsung then.
Anyhow, since his sticks are week 15 i think it's safe to say his sticks are Micron.
You can also lift the spreader a bit with your nail so you can have a peek underneath, just to be sure. ;)
This is what I have so far ......
Attachment 85650
Just running the same but at CR1. I noticed that when I quit prime CPUZ was reporting a 455FSB which settled back down to 450FSB after about 30 seconds.

This is all on air with AS5 and washer mod to heatpipe assembly. Other than the temps I am happy with the 450 setup
Will a higher CPU PLL Voltage gain me higher fsb, trying to get my q9450 to boot at 500fsb but always fail when loading windows. Any suggestions ?
its normal that a quad cannot reach 500fsb on ordinary cooling....
#Rob2k impressive just awsome! I will try to adapt your settings to my setup and hope I can get something better out of my 2x2GB Corsair than stock speed (FSB 333) with at 2/3 memory divider and 400 strap - obviously sucks big time.
