Yip. ASUS boards are well known for overvolting. We could really do with some software to read the voltages in Windows.

Software measurement is far from being accurate in some cases. Buy a cheap DMM and check it directly from the mobo ;)
Ok so the Newegg CSR I spoke to today was wonderful. She offered me a refund with no restocking fee and now I can purchase some other sticks of RAM. So now the question is...what type of RAM should I put with this board?
EDIT: What do you all think of this RAM? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820146785
Yep. there are not softwares to read this voltages :(
Everest don't show, cpu-z don't show too...
but i remembered a program that does this, i think.
The asus suite show the real temp in the windows...or the voltage that program shows is wrong?
Yes it's wrong. That program only reads vcore correctly, all others are wrong. Forget about AI Suite. That plus the fact that the reading is the same as CPU-Z, Everest... all of them are reading the value from a sensor in the board. If the sensor is bad calibrated or something, well you know. And it seems P5Q Deluxe does not have any temp or voltage sensors for NB and SB. But it's better than nothing I agree with that. A cheap DMM cost 5€ and gives very good measurements compared to a much expensive one, so go and buy one :D
Good ram though to expensive... I have the PC8000 Redline from Mushkin PC8000 they are fab but at newegg they only have them limited edition boxes with Vantage and co... do not buy it as it's too expensive... other kit I use on this mobo are these Gskills :

And in Belgium I can have them redlines at the same price as the Mushkin kit, don't understand why they should be so expensive...
Fine..
guys, this mobo don't show the temp of nb and sb...this information is right??
Fully correct these are the only temps and voltages read out by bios and any other program out there

I'm seriously hoping that we'll get them in a future BIOS.
I'm afraid we won't see them.
Ooohhhhh my God!!
I have checked one more time voltages. If those read points are correct my board overvoltage ram very high for all dimm slots
No difference between load/idle-2.16v bios-real-2.25-2.27v!!!!!!
...my previous post wasn't correct at all...
Looks real. Lastest ASUS mobos have been overvolting the RAM always in the ~0.05-0.1v range.
Question: how do you determine what's causing instability in your overclock? Primarily - how do you know if you're giving too little voltage to your RAM as opposed to your CPU?
Got a few questions about this motherboard if anyone would be kind enough to answer...
After reading through this thread im a bit worried about the overvoltage on this board and the lack of voltage readouts. The lack of stabilty running a 1:1 divider also has me concerned. My order has been delayed by a day so I could change the P5Q deluxe for a GA-EP45-DS5. The Gigabyte board has full voltage readouts both in the bios and in software, i know its better to use a DMM but i still like having this info in software. Does the asus board not even have a sensor to monitor these voltages in future when new software\bios are out? However, what swayed me to the Asus board was the 16 phase voltage regulation (i think the Giga only has 12 phase) but with the reports of overvoltage in this thread i am a bit worried i made the wrong choice and should have gone for the Gigabyte instead. Has anyone got any opinions on how these two boards compare?
Also, I am looking at running an E8400 at 7x600 1:1 on my new mobo if the Cpu can handle it. Is that too high for 24/7 use using a P45 board? Will it be too much for the cpu to run 600fsb 24/7?
Thanks in advance for any responses
600x7 is to much for 24/7,believe me ;)
it's good for benches or show validation not for 24/7 :D
..I think so!!!
Just a quick update on this mobo and overclocking, quad core, and RAM experience.
So far I have used a e6400 in this motherboard, and it overclocked great even with stock cooling on everything, up to 3.6ghz on a e6400, and now, with a q6600@3.4ghz. I need better CPU cooling to use 3.4 or more for extended periods of time. I have all 4 RAM slots filled for a total of 8gb of RAM, and haven't had any booting issues. I have had two BSODs as of late, but I think it was with some rendering engine SDK tools I had running and not hardware related.
I had the common PCIx16 link width resetting to 1x, but now after using an updated BIOS it's fixed (the newest BIOS available about 5-6 months ago, not sure of the version, as I'm not at my PC). Before this, I'd just increase the N. Bridge voltage, and it'd fix the strange PCIx16 problem.
But so far, Crucial 10th Anniv. 2gb of RAM worked fine, and 8gb of G.Skill works great now as well (DDR2800). Also, 7950gx2, 7900gs, 8800gtx, and 8800gt cards have been used with this mobo and without any issues (except the aforementioned PCIx16 link width issue when you overclock, but is now fixed with BIOS updates).
:)
Forget about 600FSB daily, most boards under/overvolt... for the powerlevels some bios tinkering will get it done, I don't know if you have read some of the Gigabyte reviews but the ones I've seen even with a lower Pl the scores are the same and even worse... and if you are worried about readouts go for the Formula II then it has all the stuff and readouts you willl ever need...
Are you sure the DS4 and 5 have all the readouts ? as Gigabyte in the past has been very very scarce with settings and tweaks in their biosses ( I haven't seen their new version of their bios yet, but I've heard the rumours )
Mumid can you do an everest test at 500FSB/1000 ram 4-4-4-12 PL 7 I will pop in the wolf and run the same clocks so you can compare what to expect...
@Spoudazo you are in the wrong thread : )
Yeah i have been digging around since i posted that and it seems you are right about the Giga boards, not much info anywhere on them yet though
Actually mate, again having looked into this it seems that i wasnt right and the options on the Gigabyte are the same as the Asus. Again unconfirmed thoughQuote:

Sure thing mate, i will do it now, ill be back in 5... cheers fellaQuote:
