guys I saw at Anandtech..someone is having big problems install winxp pro off a NONRAID SATA HDD
can you not just attach a nice 320 gb Seagate drive to say the intel or marvel SATA ports..boot and load and install winxp...do you really need a floppy to get sometime of driver???
If you connect a drive to the Intel controller and set it to IDE in the BIOS (as opposed to AHCI or RAID) then you're OK. otherwise you need the diskettes and you have to press F6 during the initial install.Quote:

AHCI supports things like Hot Swapping, NCQ (Native Command Queueing) and other pretty trivial things. You'd only see a very, very slight performance gain in AHCI mode using a WD Raptor 16mb cache, for example, as opposed to not running AHCI.Quote:

Hmm mine didnt install any apache web server when i installed the drivers. I disabled it anyway in the bios after installing the driver but as you know the hard drive light is solid now with it disabled..Quote:

I upgraded to 2395, and system became very unstable even would not post sometime. Then after messing with the board for some time, I tried to load setup defaults then save settings and exit. After that I config the everything again and now the system is very stable.
So for those after upgrading to BIOS 2395 and system become unstable, try to load setup defaults in BIOS and start all over again. At least it works for me.
Similar things happend to me. It did not boot up with the same bios settings carried over from 2333. I had to use the jumber to enter the bios. I did the set up and reboot several times.:stick: It then worked with the exact settings as it had before. :)Quote:

My board is not overclocked at all, I was having these bsods on both the 2333 bios and the 2395 bios. The ram timings at both 5-5-5-15 and 4-4-3-8, set them to their supposed voltage of 2.2v, put on power slope, shut off eist, stopped the raid and firewire, I don't see this C1E people talk about or a maintenance part of bios.
I ran memtest+ for 11 hours on default settings in memtest and it went through 24 passes 0 errors. If I run the bios all instead of STD then I get millions of errors, if I run probe I sometimes get my system to reboot itself and the screen not to be picked up by the system.

and again, intel tightened a lot of the timings on both the 800 and 1066 strap from 2333 --> 2395. This ends up with better performance on those straps, but with lower FSB max on each. Never said I got it working, still BSODing and such, I ran orthos for about 10 minutes on CPU priority 10 and all went well, ran the ram test and I get errors on both parts within 3 seconds to 4 minutes. Haven't tried blend yet but I am guessing errors. I am still lost on what to do.
guys, i read that to disable c1e, i need to move the jumper to maintenance mode?
can someone please explain it for me, i'm quite blur about this..
I just did it myself so the quick explanation is you grab the small yellow jumper down and to the right of your ram (atx) which you use to fix a bad bios change and you move it down a pin, you reboot and enter bios, change what you want, save, shut off computer, move the jumper back to original area and you are done.

Don't worry about the 1x4 connector near the CPU area, that is for extra power to a secondary graphics card and not needed to power the board.
can anyone tell me what is max fsb for 1066strap with the new bios? im on 2333 and i run at 430x9 for everyday use and 445 for benching. Will it still allow to do 445 on 1066 ? a performance boost would be nice at 430x9... How much performance would it be in superpi or 3dmark 06...
ill maybe try it myself, im a bit scared to update to new bios because system runs fine on 2333...

The thing is I thought it did pass memtest86+. It did 24 passes with 0 errors on bios STD. It was set at ddr2 800 4-4-3-8 (2 gigs) with 2.2 volts per the makers instruction. So I shouldn't be testing on bios std and should only test on bios-all? If that is the case I get millions of errors.
