huh? was about to RMA crucial Ballistix that stopped booting? Actuall I should since it is having issues on my other comps too. Memory killer it is... I hope the new ones aren't. It only burnt about 6 gig of memory on me so far.Quote:

BIOS: CPU voltages lacking: CPU voltage options top out at 1.55V in the PI-A9RX480’s BIOS. 1.55V just isn’t enough juice for an enthusiast looking to push every last MHz out of his processor. The really weird thing is that Sapphire provides voltage settings up to 4.0V for the memory.
It’s almost as if Sapphire is saying it’s okay to overclock your RAM but not your processor.

No, the guy in the FS article was right...the CPU voltage does only go upto 1.55v in the current bios, but only because Sapphire haven't added in the % over-vid options yet. ;)Quote:
The easiest way to get a few more MHz out of your CPU, is by increasing the Core voltage. Sapphire's motherboard is one of the few boards to allow undervolting. Minimum voltage is 0.825 V, in steps of 0.025 V you can go up to 1.550 V, which isn't that much for the more extreme people. From a hardware perspective the board can easily support over 2.0 VCore. The BIOS option for an "offset" voltage was not in this tested BIOS. A few days later we got a new one with the options, but they did not work. It was possible to change the offset voltage via software, so it's just a matter of time until Sapphire gets this working in the BIOS.
yes, but anyone reading that article won't know it was lacking the % over vid, thus demand will go down
this can be good and bad, good, where demand goes down, so does price, but..
where demand goes down, they might also make less, so supply goes down, and price goes up....
I think I shall get the DFi not the Sapphire then

with so many bios revision already, there still such a serious bug, shouldn't it worry you one bit? Besides, why only that one and brand burst? It only means its not a quality cap like the sanyos and the other brand.
well, that's why it's not released yet, but, sending one out so early prolly wasn't a hot idea
I would like to hear more about the CF aspects but suspect this info is still under wraps. Wondering if each card will run at x8 like current SLI or if each will be allowed to run full x16.
Thanks to Tony for the info (hurry back so you can shed some more light) and to Grayskull for adding clarity.
I have seen even high quality cap bust. Even high quality cap makers have defects here and there.Quote:

Grayskull has been very forthcoming and frank in his disscusions here and i tend to trust him when he says the caps on sapphire boards will be up to standards.
well he didn't actually say that, he said they would look into it. reguardless, I think I'll stick with dfi now. also, grayskull works for ati, not sapphire. which reminds me, why not make a built by ATI board? forget all that sapphire jazz. U guys have BBATI cards alrdy.
The chipset only supports 22 Lanes (iirc). 16*2=32 so I doubt it.Quote:

Haha...go bigtoe! :banana:Quote:
An insider near DFI reported that the company is working on an ATI Crossfire board, which will be based on the reference design. The board name, although unofficial, is DFI CF-BT where CF stands for Crossfire and BT is supposedly the abbreviation of an industry consultant Tony Leech who’s been working with DFI for the past four years and is on DFI’s "advisory board" for research and development. According to an insider, he’s been assisting DFI with research and development aspects of the board, and DFI is supposedly honoring Leech by naming a board after him. With that said, DFI USA and DFI Taiwan are still discussing the board name.

Along with the new graphics chips, Crossfire, ATI's multi-graphics chip technology is prepped for launch, according to sources. However, while Crossfire was expected up until last week to become a cheaper alternative to Nvidia's SLI, quite the contrary appears to be the case. Sources indicated that a typical, Xpress 200 chipset-equipped board, will not be priced below the $200 mark at launch.
Even if it was true and verified to be true by GOD (if there is one), out of principle, due to THG previous record of blatent lies and intel fanisn I would STILL consider the article to be 99% BS and 100% biased :fact:  :DQuote:

Also, the part about xfire boards costing around 200 holds some merits. Most reviews of the Sapphire Grouper board has a suggested retail price of about $179. So it is not surprising for xfire to be 200+.
lol no way it will be that much, sure maybe in the first month when demand is high, but costs for motherboards just arent that high, especially when northbridges dont even have memory controllers.
I don't care if it costs 200+ or 300+ if it can my 3800+ X2 to 3Ghz...
ANd I believe BigToe when he says it is a good board...
