PREDICTION: Based on past release histories:

1. If BD is awful they will be here dancing in joy and trolling with abandon.

2. If BD does well in one category but not as well in another they will tout the latter and do everything in their power to make it seem that the former is not important.

3. If BD is exactly equal to similarly priced Intel chips they will be here claiming that Intel is better because they have chips that cost 4 times as much and perform 15% better.

4. If BD is vastly superior they will be here claiming it doesn't matter since it goes against their opinion. (Or they will just disappear for awhile. But they'll be back... like a bad rash.)

Wrong on number 4. Should be that if BD is superior intel fans will be trolling about how BD is only better because they had half a year or more to improve it just to show an improvement on a "much" older intel design. :rolleyes:

that and they will say it dosnt matter since it would be competing with ivy bridge, even though its not out yet, and would find quotes about how SB is competing with BD instead of thuban, etc, etc..

i predict it will be priced nicely, and force prices to drop over the summer to where the 2500k could possibly go as low as 175$ after just a few months. who would get mad at that?

The 2500k is already $179 at microcenter :)

But as both you and Manicdan mentioned, if BD is shown to be vastly superior then they'll change:

FROM: "Thuban can't even compete with Lynnfield... so BD will never be able to do anything against SB".

TO: "BD wasn't supposed to compare to SB it was made to compete with IB since AMD stole all the architecture in BD." (And we'll also see a lot of SB-E comments.)

almost everyone has it listed for 215 to 230, they just have a deal or something special, the other 100 sellers dont have it anywhere near that price

Under that scenario, the propaganda is already clear. They will be saying, as they are now, that's it's 'not fair' because it's 8 cores v 4 cores ignoring that it was intel's choice to design them that way.

yeah we forgot about that argument, i remember someone posted in here earlier that the moment BD is doing great, intel will be the first to acknowledge its an 8 core chip instead of 4 module/8 threads

So what you guys are saying is that if bd is strong then the intel fans will start doing what the amd fans have been doing since Conroe with the whole denial, making excuses and flooding threads with complantes if unfavourable comparisons are drawn? Ahh then the cycle will be complete and the intel fans can be the crazy ones again just like the pentium 4 days.

Those kind of arguments always spark my interest in human behaviour.

If they are advanced users comparing core counts (4 vs 8) and architecture (cache, clocking, memory support), why does die size and actual core size get often ignored by most fanboys?

AMD obviously designed a smaller, more compact core which allows them to fit in more. Intel on the other hand went the HT route with bigger cores.

In my opinion all that should matter to end-users and especially reviewers are price points - you get the performance that your budget allows for. No fanboy excuse on how to look at the products and architecture should influence that... :shrug:

Well, both intel and amd fanboys dont live in the reality.But in the never never land where only what they like matters.
Intel fanboys are living currently in reality that intel isnt f-kin up whole oc community ,and that price doesnt matter.
AMD fanboys dont realize that most of the time even six core 1100T is slower than a 4core lynnfields.
Intel fanboys dont realize that it rarely matters tho in the real world usage.
AMD fanboys fight like a champs defending a company which doesnt care about them and plans to f-em up just like Intel does now to its own sheeple.

Its all illogical.But people like to fight.
I just wish there would be more technical DISCUSSION and not just out of ass "thats bettah oneh eh meh aint no ?" .Yea, its all sad.

Credit where credits due, Amds launches have been faultless lately. Still though, BD should be in pretty high demand so I am sure there will be shortages for the first while. To be expected really.

Well, given they are launching the desktop processors first and Servers are another quarter off... I'd opine and therefore logically suggest that there ideally would be no shortage... unless the demand for it is outripping supply...

Or, a scenario where Intel comes up with one of those marketing schemes from past where a reseller would get Intel stuff cheaper as long as they undersell AMD... Something which they got sued for :P

Maybe a little nostalgia from a legend that helped define an era will ease the tension a bit. Has nothing to do with Bulldozer though.

Do we know if the motherboards that will support BD processors will provide 2x16 PCIe lanes for Crossfire or they will have 2x8 like the SB platform ?

Also anyone knows any rumors about how strong/fast will be the HDD support compared to ICH10 and P67 Express Chipset ? I guess they will provide native support for Sata x 6Gb/s and not only from some Marvell controller am i right? What about USB3 ?
