By the way this current bios seems to have a HT and NB OC problem. Is there a btter bios which support OC of these two as well as an unlock?

Well looks like its an issue with 720BE's then, or am I missing something as usual. Those are some super clocks btw. Cheers.
Hmph... they didn't even release the official 1.4 before going to 1.51b!:para:
Thats because 1.4 is a mess and doesnt do what it actually was made to do. Unlocking core feature. Might as well not include it if you're not gonna implement it properly. At least MSI seems to be working hard on it.
If you're just doing normal overclocking, even 1.3 is fine.
Awesome clocks, msimax
I've been getting FF post code errors when cold booting from the 1.5b1. Glad to see I'm not alone. Going to try to reduce the HTT clock and increase the NB volts and report back.
Any help for the ram clocking please.
Are you with 1.5B1 ? Report back when u switch it. Im also thinking about it, but for now im pretty stable at 3720 mhz with my 955 so i doubt ill be getting any higher with this bios...
@msimax, thats a killer clock, is it better than with 1.3 bios ? What voltage are you running those memories at( nvm i saw it - 2.25v) ? What is your CPU-NB at 3000 mhz NB ?
normally i get ff when i pushed to far but does it cycle about 4 times for you then reset. if not pushing reset usally helps me bring it back. also i have a 214htt booting limit could be my vid card but to counter this i select the option to limit my oc till im in windows basically delays it, so if i have a known good oc i just use that option. might just be my board since it was declared legaly dead 3 times:rofl: any thing i get out of it is a bonus:up:
nb is 1.465 but imma try lower tonite when i try cas 9 clocking:up:
NB is at 1.465, what about CPU-NB ? :)
thats what i meant
SO do you think a higher NB V would be required to run ram at 1,600 Mhz. Anyone running 1600 and whats ure nB v??
NB V 1.3, CPU-NB 1.3
My Corsair DHX 1600mhz 9-9-9-24 1.8v rams @ 1600mhz 7-7-7-24 1.8v.

I FINALLY GOT MY ACTIVATION EMAIL! i registered here like 2 months ago and jsut now got the activation
thank god
anyhow ive been following this thread since it started, lotta good info in here
ive got the gd70 board as well.....720be stuck in it
2700nb speeds, cpu running at 3,716 etc etc
but what ive been dying to ask, is with all these bios releases, when i try to unlock the 4th core upon reboot after enabling acc and special ec the motherboard hangs with FF on the led
i know this chip unlocks ive done it on a gigabyte board, and its from the 0904 batch also
anyone know why this happens on the msi boards?
im using the 1.5b1 bios right now and i actually was given a guest account from msi to their ftp server for 48 hour access because they created a custom bios for me to enable this feature, this was like a month or so ago when they made the custom for me....it didnt work either, always hangs at FF. ive tried since version 1.4 and used all the betas. same thing
wonder what it could be?
are u setting it to special and acc +2 thats what i had to do
and first set optimized defaults then try to unlock it
I tried playing with acc and found out that FF only occurs with acc on auto. On any other setting after a couple of reboots the unlocked core silently disappears, the cpu simply reverts back to X3 and from that point switching EC mode is useless - only thing that helps is the good old cmos clear.
hello all it been awhile since i posted about this board it was wondering if you guys that tested the bios out for this board
what one do you suggest as i have the 1.B6 bios
Thanks Roger
1.51B^^^
Ok so looks like the goofup I made was not to increase NB. i only increased CPU NB. Lets see how it goes, will try once I am home...thanks and will keep you guys posted.
EDIT: seems like the issue is vista. It boots up and all that, without any issue, specially when using the FSB to get it to 1600, then vista decides that there has been a change in hardware and therefore I need to repair it. the moment I go to repair, instead of the normal screen that comes up, it says windows repair (ems) and then after loading most of the files bluescreens. So tried to repair using 1333 and it works differently, as soon as I ask it to boot from CD it goes straight into the loading file screen, whereas with 1600 it asks for windows EMS or something....so what can I do about this, other than a fresh install. I could probably fresh install it on the other drive and try but thats another story.
BTW this is what the cpuz screenie shows...nothing at all on 1600 speeds and showing 533 as max bandwith..
