After a very well devised plan, i was able to make a clone windows disk with all possible nvidia chipset and keyboard-mouse drivers installed on it, and after juggling with 3 mice and 4 sets of keyboards, was able to restore the clone disk on the fp...
i bet it could be done with a raid array as well.
now running on a very stable 3.2g with a 6600 on air,
memory very happy @960 4-4-4-12 1T unlinked. no sli.
i'll try the quad later and see what it does with the multis,
and the pwm's loaded.
also found out that the sli switch wont work in the normal position for me...:rolleyes:

Cool...now that you have it up and running I think you might actually like it...maybe. Memory timings look pretty sweet...can you do a quick run of orthos large fft's and see if she reboots on ya (or at least fails)? Just curious to see if it's me or my board or the bios or my memory :D She'd only run maybe 5 to 8 minutes then just reboot. Works great linked though....

yeah unless this new bios is better and it reports sub 0c temps im going to go back to my evga with the new revision(when i get it in)

im having problems running my fsb around 500 and above
im fine all day long @ 480 + or -

tried 4 sets(all-2gb) of sticks during the known keyboard-mouse hell time:
gskill f2-6400cl4d-2gbhk (4-4-3-5)
super talent t800ux2gc4 (4-4-3-8)
cellshock cs221440 pc8000 (4-4-4-12)
xtreem txdd1024m800hc4-d (4-4-4-12)

the xtreem pair was the last one on when the problems where resolved and i left them there.orthos blend yesterday night for about an hour ok, large fft's now 37 mins ok.

surprisingly the fp isn't so picky on memory as it's big brother.. and you maybe right saying that about love-hate relationships with the fp... you know you're always after the not-so easy broad...

edit: orthos stopped 46mins!!! hahahaha...

It would be nice to get that updated Bios. I have a few quirky things that happen with my machine from time to time. Any updates? They still haven't fixed / restored the forums over at ABIT. They seem totally useless right now with info from 2005.
Doesn't it seem a bit weird that ABIT support people are posting on other forums about the board and they don't have their OWN site working properly?

Mods and admins from Abit forums are posting all over the place because they have no control over what Abit-usa is doing right now...

They could at least put a sticky on the old board informing us of what the hell is going on rather than leaving all of us hanging out to speculate.

I've got an ASUS Striker sitting in a shiny new box waiting for it's Thermaltake Mozart TX case to arrive tomorrow.
My watercooling gear just might move over into a new home.
I know, I know, the Striker isn't without it's own set of problems, as are most 680i boards out there, but I'm getting antsy. From what I see, it's all about the 680i, it's application in the MoBo, and the MoBo's manufacturer and support bios wise. I don't see the "quad" cores (2 dual cores) ever being able to OC as much as the Duo-Cores due to their higher power consumption and that the 2 duo's have some form of connection between them internally. Until Intel comes out with a true quad core, that will be the norm for OC'g with a Dual Duo-Core er uh "Quad" core. BUT put todays slightly OC'd "Quad" against a highly OC'd Duo and it will probably walk away from the Duo when multi tasking if all 4 cores are processing. Until they get their heads around this new tech it's all pretty much a crap shoot as to the success of how much one can OC their MB, Memory, CPU, GPU, 680i combination. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in while. :stick:

Finally had it with this board. Even with active 120mm cooling on the northbridge and Mosfets, I just burnt my finger on the SB heatsink.

Just ordered a BX2 from Mwave.

I use a HR-05 SLI on the SB. I know that once I cut up the pipe assy on my first board and stuck the shipping SB HS back on with AS5 it definitely got wicked hot...

Is there any info on Abit? Is the forum ever gonna be fixed, will we ever get a final Bios, is Abit going out of business.... HELL YEA they are if the don't get there S*IT together!!!!!!!!

Anyone have success with 4x1GB sticks of RAM @ 1T?

Going to be trying out 4 x1 d9gmh (2 crucial pc8000, 2 buffalo pc8000, same micron though)

Vista really likes the 4GB runs nice now with 2x1gb pc6400c5 Corsair, 2x1gb pc8000 firestix @ 800mhz 5-5-5-10 (the promos on the corsair do not like 1T at all, have to wait for the crucials to get back from an RMA, had another stick go bad on me.)

just wondering if anyone had any tips on getting this going.

we never did - abit-USA have always kindly provided the whole forum infrastructure but none of the Mods work for abit or have access to the servers.

Also, those of us who were made Mods after 2005 don't have Mod access on the db that's currently running ... :shrug:

this is abit-USA only though - the global/ taiwan served sites seem to be running fine.

To the voulnteer mods over at Abit-usa forums, please don't take this as a direct insult. If you have contacts at Abit, let them know that we will not stand for this level of un-professionalism.

I am almost to the point of completly regretting my $340 purchase..

They have been told by myself and another Moderator. We now have a Marketing contact at abit-usa. We have informed him of the problems and he has assured us that they are working on restoring the forum. Apparently a massive power surge hit the building they are in and knocked out 3 of their 6 servers, and as luck would have it one of the three housed the Forums. They had a very recent backup of the forum but that server was knocked out as well. From what I understand both mirrored drives in the servers were damaged as well. They are working on recovering the data from those drives as we speak.

Thanks, Appreciate you going to bat for us and getting this.

What I can report so far is the keyboard/mouse problem has not been fixed, still must be set to OS, so I still have to keep a PS2 keyboard around (which blows goats!)

ALSO IF YOU DO NOT SAVE WITH THE F10 COMMAND IN THE BIOS uGURU IN THE BIOS GETS REALLY SCREWY!

I do not have time for any serious overclocking right now, but I passed a 30 minute OCCT with the same settings as I had before. When I have a bit more time, I will delve deeper.

Good luck folks, let us know what you find with this bios.

Sorry, the F10 thing was addressed in the flashing instruction provided me as well......

1.Prepare a Bootable Floppy Disk

2.Please copy the M622A_11.Bin and AWDFLASH.EXE files to the floppy disk.

3.Restart the PC while put the disk in the Floppy.

4.During the DOS mode, Type the comment awdflash(space)M622A_11.Bin(space)/py/sn/cc/cd/cp/cks/r¡¨

5.After finish the update BIOS, the PC will restart automatically. Please press Del button to get in the BIOS and load Load Optimized Default" for running the OS.

6.Then Press F10 button for saving and exiting.

Yeah, now you tell me to read the readme, lol

seems weird for a final release that you have to save using the F10 command.

Does not make me to confident of the bios, but only time will tell, and some tweaking...

I did not get a list of addressed issues along with this BIOS. I would assume that this new BIOS will be posted at the abit ftp Taiwan site tomorrow or the next day, and there should be a text file included with a list of fixes.
