I kept mine at default which is disabled, not sure what the Gen's add, pretty curious about this too tho, someone explain pls
Also can someone tell me which audio drivers you installed from the Msi cd for this board? I cant get my sound to work. Realtek HD drivers or the ALCXXX or which?
My 4 Maxtor 6V300F0's are set up to Raid 0 on ICH7R controller with "Gen II" enabled in bios and I do not have any problems.
This is a neat clean uncomplicated board let down by lack of voltage options in bios. Its good enough for air cooled cpu's but if you want to get extreme - look for other boards. I believe that is what MSI designed it for anyway. Only moderate O/C
I can't boot the board with my Corsair 8000UL's at the timings Corsiar recommend it can do with these sticks - 5-4-4-9 @ 2.2v & 500Mhz.
So I tried more Vdimm, then more MCHv - but system just hangs at end of bios script with message " Verrifying DMI pool data......" :stick:
Board is good for 4:5 under 500mhz and it likes 1:1 with tight DDR2 timings.
Yeah, I know that.... that's what I'm trying to do, but that's what's my problem... can't run 1:1 stable with 3-3-3-8 timings.... but can run 4:5 with 4-4-4-10 and that bugs me big time...Quote:

Two days ago I bought this mobo to replace my Gigabyte 965P-DS4.
In this few days I couldn't do so much test on my conroe E6600 because I had a lot of boot problem. Infact with the DS4 mobo my conroe could reach 3.4GHz on start up and I could reach 500MHz of bus for my OCZ ram (4-4-4-12).
Now with this new mobo I have a lot of problems on finding the right set up for the RAM, (now are running at 445MHz 4-4-4-15 with 2.1V) and the CPU at 3.2GHz with 1.32V.
I have some question:
- there is any hidden part of the bios like on the DS4 ??? I can't find where to select the CPU multiplier (my bios version is the 7.1)
- wich program can help me in controlling cpu temp ??? I tried the MSI utility but it see my CPU at 128°C ...
this is the list of my pc parts
cpu: INTEL CORE2 E6600 (conroe)
mobo: MSI 975X Platinum PowerUp Edition
ram: OCZ DDR2 PC7200-444 Platinum XTC 2x1GB
video: PowerColor X1900XT
ali: TAGAN 530W u-15 easycon
HD: Western Digital 250GB SATAII 7200rpm 16MB in RAID 0(WD2500KS)
case: Coolermaster Stacker + crossflowfan
cooling: ZALMAN 9500 + Artic silver 5 and Zalman VF900+artic silver 5
I tried the 7.21 and it also raised my memory timings, it didn't allow me to reach my previous highest FSB of 380 without crapping out constantly so I went back to the official 7.1.
I'm glad to see that 7.22 allows the cpu multi to be adjusted, I'm just extremely curious why they dont sort the reboot issues out?

I have SATA2 (3Gb/s) disks so I force them to GEN II as I want the max performance out of them.
I guess disabled detects the disks interface.
Some SATA2 disks like the first Hitachi ones you needed to enable the SATA2 through their tool otherwise it would perform as SATA1.
In the BIOS there is an option for Azalia/AC97
ENABLED = Azalia
DISABLED = AC97
Azalia has auto-jack sensing (meaning that when you plug a speaker in it *should* detect it (mine detects the 3mm Jacks but not the SPDIF so far!)
Azalia is all I have used and whilst the default settings sounded a bit echoey for me the quality was much better, I installed using the drivers on the CD then updated using MSI Live Update.
What sort of benches do you get in HDTACH with 4 disks? I use 3 (results in my sig) :)Quote:
