I didn't rip someone off. How can you rip someone off when they are offering. Knowing everything before them??? If It's broken has no warranty and the fan is snapped, then yeah. But he has purchased what he has seen.

Erm? what? it's called good will. IMO you should have charged how much you paid to get it. Then you're helping a fellow enthusiast out rather than just making a quick buck or two for yourself. If theres something sold here in UK and somebody in USA wants one badly, I'll offer to get it and send it over to them aslong as they paid all the costs, you wouldn't see me saying OK but aslong as you add an extra Â£10 on top for the trouble.

I'm up sh*te street here. I won the comp for 1x 1GB 6400 G.Skill HZ's. or 2x 512MB. So I wouldn't mind using them!!! lol. But that Geil is so cheap and it looks frickin awsome in hicookie's hands!

I take it you meant "dare" and no, I wouldn't hold an auction at all. I'd sell at cost price so there would be no "lowest". Oh and you're not a retailer so stop saying that.

1) I never said I was a retailer.

2) Dunno where you've been looking but eBay is not all rip-off.

3) Cost price was Â£45 regardless. Chances are you would have had a hissy fit about that too.

Will do. But I'm still in a pickle! lol. I've won the G.Skill's and have heard great things about them. Plus I feel obliged to use them as it may look "spoilt" that I have them and used some other memory. You'd get peeps saying "wah wah I wanted them etc."

So I think I'll just HAVE to stick to G.Skill! - which isn't really a bad thing ;)

I realy don't understand what is this all about, becuase I was not part of this sale, and it is non of my business. However, what follows is a general remark not particular to this issue.

First of all, there is nothing wrong about offering an item for sale to fellow XS members. In fact is it very nice to offer it here rather than on eBay where one may have sold it at a higher price (more exposure, more buyers, secure transaction, etc...).

Second: One has every right to sell it at whatever price necessary for a buyer to secure the goods, however high that price may be. And as long as Seller has declared its' condition correctly, he is in the clear.

And no one should be expecting the item to be sold at cost. Seller definitly don't have to offer it at cost. We all buy stuff everyday at over seller cost. I don't see anybody complaining. Right?

On a side note, one point though if I may. When something is offerered for sale in a closed bid, always settle it at the minimum price which the buyer needs to pay to secure the goods. Let me explain:

A closed bid is equivalent to asking the buyers to confide in me "What is the maximum bid price you are willing to pay for this offered item?" The buyer makes his/her investigation and then decides that he is willing to pay up to X but no more. If this was an open bid, and the price went beyond X he would walk away. If he has to pay up to X to get it he would do so and be happy. Right.

Now assume one gets responces for A, B, C for 50, 40, 30 respectivley. Remember, this is the maximum amount they would be willing to pay for the item if offered in an open bid. Beyond that they walk.

When the bid is settled, buyer A gets it for 40.01 NOT 50. Why? Because buyer needs only pay the minimum needed to secure the item. That's all. Anything beyond that is excessive.

When the item is sold, I would post "Item already sold to A for 40.01. Next highest offer was B. Thank you very much."

Everything is in the clear, as if it was an open bid. Everybody is happy too.

Falks, always remember, two things are very unfair:
a)Selling an item at the maximum amount a buyer is willing to pay in a blind bid.
b)Buying an item for the minimum amount a seller is willing to sell for in an open bid.

Hey meshmesh. good comments above in the post before the quoted one above.

Now onto the quoted one.

65c seems awfully high to me too. I would not be happy with a chip at that heat. benching or not. I'd be angry with the cooler! lol.

What you ask (regarding ainside casing) is what I aim to do. I want to play about with my new rig components outside the case for a short while, then fix them into my P180. - Most benchers (and definitely the high end resulting ones) are outside of a case in the open. I'll never get those sort of scores / results so I plan on seeing how much I can crank the machine up for 24/7 use and a safe limit inside a case! - It'd be ace if more peeps would do that too.

Sometimes I wonder and think that inside a case can be better.... why? Well your creating a cool "chamber" in effect. I mean if you sit in front of a fan you get cooler. But as soon as it goes off your face rotating you warm up again.

I hope you get what I'm saying?!? - Either way this is what I aim to find out! lol.

Of coruse with outside of a case it's easy to just put some fans here and there for extra cooling!

Nope not on mine. Finally put it in a case today and its sat there now, looping oblivion at about 37/40C (not much load on the cpu, idle 33C) on the cpu. Here's the thing, my last rig was an opty 170 2.75GHz, the case temps are way lower. It's generating a lot less heat overall. Even the toast rack XTX is a couple of degrees down. I was expecting to have to knock it back a bit, but no its doing great, I'm quite surprised.

Coretemp shows temps in excess of 70C for most people so 65C is pretty dam good temps..

There is a 12C delta from probe to coretemp. Its about the normal offset for the motherboard and cpu sensors. I've check the motherboard sensors against my thermocouple and it's within a couple of degrees. My last board (Ultra-D) was 12C out, always pissed me of DFI couldn't get that right. Its a good cooler, bit loud on full pelt, works well on low speed. Don't think it'll be easy to fit if the boards in the case, the screws are a bastard to get at:hitself:

I lapped my E6700 OEM today and saw a temp drop of 8c. When i checked the IHS it was raise round the edges, so the centre was not getting any direct heat Sink contact.

I am somewhat disapointed that intel cant make a flat IHS... lapping means all the numbers are gone from the processor and will make it hard to sell on no doubt, but as i intend keeping this fo awhile.. its not a major issue.
