@ BvK: Very nice CPU  Mine takes 1.5v for the same speed.
I've noticed that as far as CCB1E 550 VPMWs go, 170 > 165 as far as raw speed goes. 170s seem to take less volts for the same clocks as 165s as well :)
Just wanting to know what the max T-Case for you dualy users is.

Sorry for so many pics....but I am excited...this is my highest overclock ever! I had a 4000 San Diego chip at 2.9 on air...but this takes the cake. Now lets see what happens when I re-tube my watercooling setup and get a Thermochill PA 120.2..http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...oducts_id=3943

Woah 865pe and Grinch those chips rock! specially 865pe's, 3100@1.48v. That's what mine IHS-less need for 2700... :(
Thanks for the pics Grinch, those are welcome between so many numbers and batchtepping letters :) Nice mini-guide to IHS removal too, very descriptive and useful to know which tool is the best, it helps not to dig too much hence avoiding to cut the SMDs.
yeah man....with that little razor gimmick...can't messup! it can only go in so far....and the depth is exact!...:woot:
where did you get that tool from? seems handy dandy. i feel a bit more secure to pop a lid witht aht sucker then a ordinary knifeQuote:

Cant find the pics of mounting bracket grinded, but basically it goes like this..
Take the black retention bracket holder thingiamabob, and itll have 4 little feet that will keep it almost 1/4 inch off the mobo, just take like a dremmel or somekind of grinding or cut off tool and take them about 3/4 of the way off, I took mine flat, then replace
Heres a shot of mine without any bracket at all, just using mount thru holes..

it worked wonders.. about 30 seconds and two passes around the chip... the depth of the blade can't reach the resistors, so cutting with confidence was much easier. :)
And how are the temps comparing with IHS on ?
That's the best pic I've seen yet of a hatless chip!
Not quite true. I just picked up one of last 0550 VPMW today for $500 cash from an Ebay seller. I got it in my hot greedy little hands. Just itchin' to put it in my machine. :stick:Quote:

Alright, 2900 @ 1.425v :)

Hi, I got one of these this week frome newegg http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103588
AMD Opteron 165 Denmark 1GHz HT 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket 939 Dual Core Processor - Retail , I thought Denmark would mean the core? Shows up as a Toledo core which is the higer end X2/FX-60 cores.
my CPU is a
OSA165DAA6CD
CCBWE 06/04 TPMW
is ther even a denmark core? and does anyone elese show up as a toledo core under CPUZ? Very interesting...
it runs fine dual prime stable at 280x9 2.55GHz 1.4v on air@51c Dual prime load. in two week ill have my watercooling setup and then the real testing will start. But to be at near FX-60 speed right out of the box, with temp stopping me from OCin more, with the toledo core ID. sounds like they might be the lesser quality cores of the fx-60 line that couldnt run at the 1.3v spec
or under the fx-60's high multiplier
The Opteron series is labeled Denmark on paper but are Toledo cores. The difference is one is Opteron series (Denmark) and the other Athlon series(Toledo).
I recall that you wrote to me not to buy at eBay ...:DQuote:

nice clocking chips here
I'm going to stop reading this thread, makes me depressed.
Yeah it sure is depressing. Both my 165 0550UPMW and VPMW's are stuck @ 2.8GHz dual prime, naked on water....
Haven't even maxed it out yet. i'm very pleased with this little gem so far.
http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...Opty_170_2.jpg
0550 VPMW priming 2.9G @ 1.39V now.
This is a great CPU so far. Idles kinda hot @ 34C and Loads @ 47C.
Hopefully, burn-in will bring that down.
cjoe
That's worse than my 165 that does 2.6 GHz 1.55V, considering the stepping of those chips. A new low has been reached in the Opteron world!Quote:

WOW, just WOW
Upgraded my water cooling, the chip from ben is now 39C full load @ 1.4v instead of 48+!
Just incredible. Not yet tested for further stability. :toast:
Now get that chip up here w/ the rest of the 3 Ghz, we need that crunching power :cow: :hammer:

40 minutes of prime so far :p:
You guys made me jealous, so I dropped the volterage to 1.49V from 1.51V and it passed Super Pi 32M Twin Run. :woot:
hi guys.
i wanna buy the OPteron 165 but the thing that makes me worry is the opteron 165 like the High FSB 1:1 with tight rams 2-2-2-5 ( BH5-UTT)
Until now all isee is ppl doing HIgh CPU but ram @ 200 @ 2-2-2-5 OR high FSB like 250 1:1 @ 2.5-3-3-8.
i want to confirm this
thanx for the help
http://s2.supload.com/thumbs/default/lidpopper.jpg
Thanks for the tip Grinch.
Picked up one of these babies at Ace hardware $1.29.
cjoe
You don't need 1:1. Its okay to use a divider with A64 chips (Opterons). Most people are running very high HTT with dividers becuase the performance of 1:1 vs divider is not that great.Quote:

I can do Super PI 1M @ 3072mhz with the same voltage, then 3080 @ 1.55v, but I cant get over that at 1.575. Kinda wierd.
hmm that is great work guys 2.8 at 1.42...on air here modded xp-90...need to get my water cooling finished up...
it is topless 175 0540TPMW forget the rest...

Not yet. Its my last resort if my CCB1E 0550 VPMW doesn't cool down in a week. I was very worried yesterday but idle temps have dropped 4C today.Quote:
