I feel your pain. I finally found a legal copy of WS2008 R2 and got it all installed on the ML370 g5 I bought for dirt cheap. Ran it overnight and then it puked out while I was trying to revive my car. Now the car starts and the ML370 doesn't. Bagh. :mad:Quote:

I'm probably buying an AMD FX 8320 this afternoon or early next week. Friend of mine needs a PC bad, and I was going to give him an AMD X2 box I was repairing, but that PC has every BSOD possible when trying to install Windows. Not sure what is going on. So I'm thinking I'm going to give him my Core 2 box and build a replacement box for myself at work. I wanted an i5 but I can build the FX 8320 for less than an i3 would cost me, and I would guess that even with Intel's performance advantage the 8 unit FX would still outperform the i3 quite handily. Correct me if I'm wrong!
I'm about all spent out after the two duallies ....but I had this spare 8c 16t cpu lying around so I had to get a board for it.... incoming... just ram to get. should be on 88 threads by the end of the month... 80 of them stock :shakes:
After that it is just trying to get any stuff I already own running again
I could do so much more if it were not for the cost of electricity.... edit: about 120GBP so a bit over $180 for everything here... lights, shower ...and the 3 heaters that crunch
my power bill was 34$ last month LOL
My luck totally sucks. This guy has been running an ancient Athlon XP box up to now. I wanted to upgrade him with this Athlon X2 and random MSI board I have here, but it either the board or CPU is shot and throws BSODs constantly. Fine, I'll give him a good working PC I have. Shut it down, took it home, and now that one won't power back up! Board is dead. It has only been running flawlessly for the past several months. Am I like not supposed to give this guy a working PC or something?!

Good thing I bought that board/CPU combo already to replace it for my PC. Still doesn't solve my friend's issue however... Although I'm half tempted to run back to Microcenter now and pick up another board/CPU combo for him and give him something brand new. This is ridiculous.
Anyone happen to have an older s775 board that would support a C2D e8400? ATX, mATX, doesn't matter, does not need to be anything special. Just needs a PCIe slot and at least 2 SATA ports.

The sysadmin probably got clearance from the board to run WCG and use it to prop up the place's public image. It's not unusual and benefits the project overall, though how long they'll stick to it is anyone's guess.
