wickedld9 VERYimpressive! How do you manage that? What is the cpu multiplier? htt multiplier and memory ratio?Quote:

I suppose it is because you are running on a higher cpu multiplier? And because of the tweakeability of the dfi?
One entry more, also PM'd.

Update on Mushkin HP Blue 2x1GB.
I just received my new Mushkin sticks. To make the long story short, I was one of the orignal posters with low overclocking batch of Mushkin HP pc3200 2x1GB (silver heatspreaders). Upon calling the tech support and explaining my overclocking problems, I was offered *free of charge* to have those replaced by their new HP pc3700 line sticks. In all of about 15 years of my experience with PC component manufacturers, I've never met such understanding and willing to help people. Thanks to everyone at Mushkin, especially Dounger.
Now, these new sticks are rated at 3-3-3-8 @ 233Mhz and 2.6V. I've only done preliminary testing at very basic settings. I will be posting a more in-detail review later this week/weekend in a separate thread, but so far, the results are encouraging.
@ 2.6V and trcd-trp-tras = 3-3-8
cas 2 - 214 Mhz
cas 2.5 - 248 MHz
cas 3 - 248 MHz
More to come at higher voltages and other timings.
What about 2.5-3-2-x? I think you'll only loose a MHz or two but have noticably tighter timings.
Look forward to more results....Mushkin really went out of their way to help you guys and it looks like there are some very happy people. Best of luck with your RAM, arch.
man, mushkin is right up there with ocz, for real. Looks like breaking off is doing them some good. props off to u guys Douger. too bad u guys don't have those 4000 rated 1gig sticks yet, I'd pick those up instantly.
Everything I've seen on these forums is telling me that they'll be here VERY soon fareastgq....just you wait. ;)
Can someone do me a massive favour and receive some RAM for me from newegg and then post it on to me in Australia? I will cover all costs, just the Crucial Ballistix is not available down here and I cant find it anywhere that will ship internationally either. :(
Regards, Anthony Hunt
Does anyone remember when OCZ used to be a really shady and horrible company? Crappy products, terrible support, etc. My how times changed over the years. Mushkin's always had a great reputation, I'm still in a little weary over OCZ even though they aren't the same as they once were, not even close.
I remember those days....still have yet to buy a single product of theirs because of it.
Any one have any 2x1GB results with ddr2? I didn't see any on the database, and only read through the first 7 pages. I plan on getting a 630, and asus premium, and 2gb of ddr2. Just wondering if ddr2 hits good fsb as well with 2gbs.
Critical.Arrow
I can't imagine they would be any slower than their respective DDR1 modules.... although the timings may leave something to be desired...

Running 10 multi, the CPU MHZ helps out a bit.
HTT multi is set to Auto
Not sure of all my timings other than Trc-10, I'll try to get a tweaker shot tonight for you. I'm sure being able to tweak with the DFI helps out a little also, though I'm starting to get frustrated with my board. It's starting to hang at boot from time to time, cold boot or not.
I understand that. But what I meant was I want to see some in the database, and some screenshots. This is off topic, but isn't AMD supposed be picking up ddr2 on their mobs's sometime nextyear?Quote:

Muchas thanks for the help. I got my system running with 1 stick right now and I am at 290 mhz memtest stable at 2.6V. I don't have windows or anything installed yet but I am going to try the other stick and see where that goes.
Couple of Questions for you guys. If something is memtest stable is it usally Windows/Bench stable at like 20mhz less or so. I know that the speed you get with memtest does not imply stability with Windows/Bench but I just wanted to know what in general are the tolerances between the two.
For daily setup I don't plan to push it further than that because I don't really need it and don't want to bother with active cooling etc.
I am using 623-3 bios. I heard that you are all using 704-2 but it is not an official download. Does that make a difference? I know of the VCore voltage problem but does it do anything other than that.
Also using the orange slots. Do the yellow ones make a difference? Anyone using the yellow ones with the Z503 and 704-2?
Thanks,
Prasith
I'm not really sure if memtest has a correlation to windows stablity. In fact, I'm sure it doesn't, it will only show if your memory is defective or not. Yours isn't. Anyway, my first set of Ballistix could do 260 3-3-3-8 in memtest but I never once got through a run of PI (greater than 256kb, LOL) with them at any speed (never tried anything lower than 250 3-4-4-8). My second set has been MUCH better (in sig), but I've never tried memtest. I know my old system has memtest errors up the wazoo, but runs windows alright and can do SPI (for the most part)--thus why I think there's no correlation.Quote:

I HAVE to use orange slots as my yellow slots won't boot with anything if the orange aren't already full....my situation is very rare though. It's good practice to test the yellow slots--they may be better, everyone's mileage varies. My Z503 do like the orange slots with 704-2 though.
Yellow slots were a no go with me as well.
Using 704-2 Bios, strongest stick furthest from CPU
Thanks for the input, I am running 300 right now at 2.6V. This first stick seems to be a nice one so far. I hope the second one doesn't let me down.
Some more questions and if I am cluttering this thread mods please let me know and I will move to another one and just delete this post.
1) Are there any other benches that I can run without installing windows. Any tests such as memtest that I can load onto a floppy and just test on bootup? My goal is to get it as stable as possible before I put windows and do the whole install/re-install routine (i am sure I will have to do that as well but want to cut that down - corrupting and re-installing windows is right up there with cleaning my cat's litterbox in terms of fun).
2) In terms of voltage. If it runs fine with lower voltage 2.6 is it beneficial to go higher? I noticed most are using 2.8 with these sticks.
I think I will stick with 623-3 for now. Is it possible that one bios could do better with one stick than the next or is it mostly limited to the type of memory that a bios does well with. I have searched and everybody seems to say try all bioses pray and stick with the one that works
Thanks again and btw this forum is so much more helpful than the DFI forum. I have asked several questions to this regard and have gotten one reply so far. You guys rock. :woot:

Sorry one more,
How long have you been running Memtest with these bad boys. Each test takes a long freakin time.
PG
Well, I dont consider it memtest stable unless it can go all night long without erroring out.Quote:
