Finished testing the new PC4000EB. Hit a brick wall at 257 MHz for 3D stability. :-/
My old Ballistix hit 296, but alas, they are dead.
so
I tested a little bit with the new CPU

I would be interested in finding out whether the expert is better with these modules than the SLi-DR.
I tested both of my sticks individually - one goes to 260, the other goes to 257. I am starting to think it is not the sticks, but more so my motherboard...
Oh well. No way to tell for sure unless someone does a comparison - clocking the same RAm on the SLi-DR, Expert, and Venus. That would be awesome.
considering most people hit the same wall with different mobo's, ill go out on a limb and say its most likely just the limitation of the IC's.
I have a question for you guys. I have an earlier rev of my Ultra D, and I was trying to get around 275 on my RAM, or even 265. The issue at hand is that in blending mode for P95 it will crap out around 30 min in. I got it to boot at 3 GHz once, but I would get some type of TRAP BSOD, so I was trying to get 265 stable. I can game all day with no issues, but if I run P95 it will fail after awhile. I have the LDT on 1.3, Chipset on 1.6, and RAM on 2.7. I tried 2.8 but it seems like it failed sooner, and 2.6 just the same.
In any case what timings would I mess with? Right now I think I have some generic settings I set for these sticks when they first came out (I bought them the day of release). I tried looking at the DFI forum for some (Try these for DFI MoBo) settings and I had to clear the CMOS LOL!
Any idea wat I could mess with? Im at work right now but I can give you guys the settings from memory the best I can or post them later today.
My PC4000EB is 3D stable at 265MHz. I brought it in the beginning of January from newegg. Guess I'm lucky.Quote:

I know that 256 works 100% fine. 257 is no go at all.
Hi, a have this memory, but i have very big problem to overclock them, i can reach only 6-2-3-2@200, 7-2-3-3@250, higher frequencies at any timings are unstable, what is max safe voltage for this memory? Thanks for infos...
MoBo: DFI Expert+latest official BIOS.
2.9 +3% and your covered, but I found that more volts on this ram made no difference in my oc clocks, i found mostly playing with the settings in bios was best for it.Im running the SLI-DR MB I posted a few screens of bios back a page or 2 you mite want to look at them and see if they can help you out on your overclock.
Thanks, it is very difficult to buy this memory in my country, and costs lot of money, i need more than 250Mhz! But i have Infineon CE-6 chips, maybe it is my problem.
It's hard to buy everywhere and its not cheap anywhere, but you should get i would say 255 atleast, there have been some that can get theirs up above the 260 mark but i would say most should do 260 to 270. But do a little tweeking in your bios and see if you can get it to run faster.
Your settings does not work for me, my stable settings: 5-2-3-2@200, 6-2-3-3@255. Nothing above 255Mhz does not work.
WOOOOO!
I finally got my Plat EBs
I have been on auto-notify from Newegg forever with no luck. Every couple days I manually check becuase sometimes it takes a few hours for auto-notify to send you and email. Well, last week, Newegg removed the Plat EB listing from their website all together (you couldn't even search for it or pull up the old link). I was growing disgusted. I checked Friday morning from work and still nothing. Then, yesterday I was IMing my buddy and telling him about the situation (LOL) and I refreshed my bookmark... IT WAS IN STOCK!! I rushed to buy a set and noticed there was only 3 left. I realized I left my credit card in my car :( So I ran about a football field and a half to grab it and get back here :D. I got it ordered and it has been charged and processed. I checked a little later and it was sold out (of course). Hopefully this is from the 3rd batch, in which Ryder said they were seeing pretty good results.
BTW - The auto-notify never emailed me, LOL

They should be the new batch the other had been sold out for a while :D Good luck hope you get a good set.

Wait it out for AM2 ;)Quote:

Grease up with plenty of patience and order an Opteron :cool:Quote:

I must admit though, those platinums were nice even when they were only at 255 ;) It is still a very nice kit and OCZ has amazing Customer Support  If I make the change to AM2 I will definately be getting OCZQuote:

3d is all that matters with this memory
270 is a no go....i have huge artifacts and pauses.....
its 2 in 1 memory
if i want to run superpi i just set it to 275 and all is fine.....
for the rest....269
comparing with other brands of memory i see that this ocz EB4000 are way faster than the competition.....3-3-2-5 at 269 gives me 38 ns in everest llatency....
i guess i am done with this kit...stable at 3230 mhz my opty will remain like this.....
i like this memorys....
;)
