Still confused with tjis new naming... What are they gonna call those dual gpu cards?
dual gpus might end with 5 like 295 or 285
There is still the option to change the last number to 5. IE 295X for a VI dual card.
rebranded crap, but with great prices = many buyers!
There is no need to make a top to bottom replacement of all products if the architecture is essentially the same and under the same node. It's a refresh, not a new arch.
Think this way, my 7970 Ghz is now the mid range card, that's not bad.
Not really.
While in this whole new rollout theyre using chips introduced earlier, PCB`s are new, memory chips are different ,clocks are different, 260X has trueaudio, and there are boost/eyefinity improvements.
Although, in 90% i agree with that statement ;-) .Thing is AMD kind of shoot itself in the foot, they introduce things like trueaudio, and then they offer it only in mid-low and ultra-high end segment.Thing is most enthusiast buys mid or mid-high end.As a 6970 owner i was looking for an upgrade this year, not many, but few games tend to be hard on my 3 year old card(notably GTA IV with icehancer i play lately). However i really want that trueaudio thing along with other improvements they made to the architecture in recent 2 years, but 500-700$ price range is totally out of my reach, so im gonna wait them out :P .
Kudos to AMD !
2816SP/512-bit in 430mm?/6 billions trannies is a big "tour de force"
Waiting for results now.
I agree with your sentiment, but as the 280's are certainly upper mid range in AMD's new line up it's not too bad. Looking at the new Call of Duty requirements I imagine that a few people that decide against the PS4 or XBOne will be seriously considering an upgrade.
he's right. amd, nvidia stop making faster cards. people don't like it :p :down:
thought this was xtreme systems? not "www.complain about new faster improved hardware just because it's not completely renewed in every single aspect.com"
re-brand or not, who complains about upgrades? more is more, get real people.
I won't lie, I'm disappointed. The main fanfare around the live announcement were the new technologies. From what I'm seeing here is the high-mid range will have none of them -wtf? Sure the value is good but NO Mantle.
I can live without true audio, but if Mantle is what it's all cracked up to be then this is mayor strike against investing in these cards. Since if the standard takes of and there is a good chance it will, then a year from now while the R9 290x might be the card to have, the R9 280x will be less then desirable.
The way I see it, somone has a 9970, decides to upgrade to the 280x, only to find out later they spent a huge amount of money on a bios upgrade.
I understand the rebrandings, but some people don't, there loss I guess :\.
All GCN cards support mantle.. why do people keep arguing otherwise?

It was mentioned as all GCN arch compatible, including 7000 series. Don't know how to get confused about that.
In case anyone was wondering... CONFIRMED: R9 280X & HD 7970 Work Just Fine In CrossfireX
I believe the 7970 GE are better option, I'am wrong ?

The winter is coming
If you were afraid that you won?t be able to afford this card then don?t be. In Montreal, NVIDIA will be showing something that may change the pricing in high-end segment on both sides. It?s for gamers and it?s not ONLY a GPU (more information to come).
Wondering if I should be opening that 780 Classy that I have coming in, suddenly (paid ~$590+shipping thanks to evga discounts).... I could just leave it unopened for a few days and see what's brewing, but I'm anxious to rip it open and use it  . Just when I thought it was safe to do so...
