Yesterday i was playing with my mb and disabled SMART on my raptor.
After doing that system start hanging at random moments with hd activity to maximum. I enabled SMART again and probs didn't disappear. Even unplugging psu and loading setup defaults in bios didn't help.
Only when i cleared cmos, board got back to normal. This was the first time i had to clear cmos on Maximus. :p:
Just wanted to share it with u, if anyone ever faces the same prob...
I tried your setting but it's still crashed after 2 mins running OCCT. Also keep increasing CPU and CPU PLL voltages but it's still not stable (either crashed or automatically restarting the system). I think if I'm rock solid at 3.4Ghz @ 1.39 then there's no need to go over 1.5 for the vcore right? Or maybe because my RAM has issues? I'm running 4x1GB so that could be the problem? I tried the DRAM frequency at 900 and it didn't even boot so I can only use 1199. Btw, a x9 multi seem to work for me since I can last OCCT for 3 mins (dunno if that would make a difference :lol: ). Man, all I need is 3.6Ghz and I'll be happy. :(Quote:

but for 3.6 on the 8 multi you may need more volts if you have a high VID cpu
there should be no need for more than 1.60 CPU PLL.
Also if your not using it I would recommend prime95 run the small fft test for a few hours and see if the cpu is the problem or if its the ram causing occt to crap out. I personally like to use it till I get the cpu stable then I can start overclocking the ram. You may need to relax your ram alot with your 4x1GB's

I too have 50+oC on nb with only 1.35V mch.
It seems that 0903 is the less buggy from the newest bioses
and i will try that (i am with stock 0505)
It is hardly for me to be on strap 266 with 450 fsb.

Hello all.
Been following this thread quit a bit.
Got my Maximus 2 days ago and followed instructions on the 1st page as to, how to remove the Heat Pipe assembly, I used the freezer method and it popped right off.
I also used nail polish remover to get the factory thermal compound off and it worked really well, it dissolves it and you just whipe it off with a tissue.
No need to destroy and scratch the heatsinks like ive seen somewhere on these forums :p

I have now lapped my TRUE and the Q6600, I'm going to try again.
OK got it to boot into windows but had to use VCore of 1.60625v and CPU PLL of 1.64v.
All other settings are like Maglin's 400X9 from the 1st page.
It reboots after 5min of prime and temps are in the mid60's.
I guess this Q6600 will have to stay at 380X9, it's stable at this FSB.
Can running 6 120mm Antec case fans setting at MED on the 3 speed switch affect the OC? Is it actually a bad idea to run 6 of them off the mobo headers?
i dont know for sure if running 6 fans off the header is a bad idea, but it seems like a bad idea... drawing that much current from the motherboard when it could go elsewhere. also, turn up your strap to 333 or 400. i had to do that to get stability *set at 400 for my setup*, and i actually was able to lower volts.Quote:

These settings are prime stable. I dropped the Crossfire setup. I didnt like the driver issues and tearing and artifacting is some games. I got a 8800 GTS 512 for the time being. When i dropped the Crossfire the NB temp dropped dramaticaly from about 58C idle to 40C idle. The Crossfire is giving the X38 a run for its money.......I like my new Team Xtreem PC6400 C3 2bg kit. It can do up to DDR1100 @ 4-4-4-12 on 2.35v bios.

Take note of Everest on the right even that was buggerd.
It took 9mins for the pc to boot up, thats right 9mins, and its slow as hell.
I cant even load a web page, it rebooted 3 times b4 I could make that screen shot.
Anyone have any ideas besides the RMA part. Willing to try anything at this point for the board is pretty much useless at the moment
The voltage part is due to the vCore exceeding 1.6v in the bios. The slowing down and crashing sounds like nothing more than the Maximus Formula showing it's true nature, once again. Clear CMOS and try it @ stock?

Yes, there are a few users here and at forumdeluxx.de with this bug. I had absolutly the same bug with 2.0pll and i noticed it only 2times, because you don`t look after pll every time you are in bios.Quote:
