Just picked up my Mobo and must go back to UPS and pick up the PSU after 8:00 CST.
Just got my DS3 in today, good board as far as I can tell. But limited BIOS (F1 flashing to F2 soon), and not alot of fan connectors. :(
My 805 runs hot as a :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:. 55C idle. :O
OK - im aiming on WC kinda like 400-430 FSB with 6300 and DDR800 - is it doable on that setup ? (wc cooled ?) will DS3 do good ?
flash to F3, the temp sensor in bios in mine is f'd too (reads 63c idle in bios for my bs celeron) but the actual temp is around 32c idle (mbm and the gigabyte overclock tool in windows list it as that).

aaaarrrrgggggggggggggg
I think my DS3 died...
I left it running dual prime this morning with the settings in my screenshot up there ^^
it ran for about 4 hours, then the comp reset. I came back another 2 hours later and it wont boot. Actually when i first got back i could hear it boot into windows (played startup sound) but it had no video. now I can't POST with anything. RAM and video card test good in a different computer. Either the CPU or motherboard is fried.
I guess I'll just wait for my conroe... if it doesnt work then I need to RMA the board.
I like AMD overclocking more... at least when that stuff is unstable it just crashes.
that sux :( :( :( :(
I ve got a E6600 stepp 5 For some days of testing :D
Let's see what it can do....
Thanks to quent ;)
first : FSB (max or boot) depends of the cpu you got.
My 6600 can actually boot at 400X9 without a little problem
But it can't not do as my 6300 do : 475 boot no pb.
Even with 7X it can't boot over 420 directly (from 266 to 420 without stepp) but sometimes it's ok :D.
But it's not really a problem for me, just set the frequency and pray , thanks to Easy tune :)
No more word, just numbers, all aircooled :

Need some cold :D
Chip is maxxed ( 35°c here), i'm not FSB limited here :)

Has anyone been experiencing issues with IDE drives (optical drives) defaulting to PIO mode? Or has there been weird occurences of IRQs being assigned to too many devices?
I know these issues were reported earlier.

So the E6600 can boot at 400? I'm assuming that 450 MHz is with Easy Tune? This HAS to be able to be fixed with a BIOS update... I'm so tempted to pick up this or the Abit instead of paying an extra $100 cdn for the Asus...Quote:

Thats fixed by changing the operating mode of the controller chip in the biosQuote:

now i'm at 2.7ghz, 386x7, 1.375vcore, +0.2vmch, 2.1vdimm..
it means you've overvolted the vdimm :)
owh thx a lot misteroadster~ and it just a reminder rite? nothing serious for us in XS
did you test your PSU ?Quote:

Mine died too, I think. But my water block on it and it bent the board, so I let off so it wasnt so bent. But then whenever I try and start it up I get nothing. Even with stock cooler. In the beginning it was having problems starting up also, it would boot up for like a sec, then turn off and 5 sec later boot up completely (using bios f3). Any ideas what to do?
I'm wondering if I can fit a Scythe Mine and one of those Thermaltake Spirit NB coolers on this board at the same time...
I'm using a Ninja on mine, but be aware that it hangs over the northbridge a bit, maybe a centimeter or so if I recall correctly. There isn't much clearance above edge of the stock northbridge heatsink and the bottom of the Ninja.
I put everything in an Antec Solo case. Don't make the mistake I did and install the cpu/heatsink before the power supply. I couldn't get my power supply past the installed Ninja. Doh!
Otherwise, have to say the DS3 has been a great mobo. Zero problems with it. Not a single hang or crash, and that's with a temporary 3.2 GHz celeron OC'd to 3.85 GHz (waiting on an e6600). I could have clocked it higher, but it's Celeron which has crappy performance in games anyway and there didn't seem to be much point...
