cold boot? hmm you think this buga needs some pre-heating before starting to look for its limits. Maybe this is the case why if i start from low freqs and push up slowly leaving the 3d window spinning for quite some time it reaches high mhz . You think so?
Yes i think exactly that. Depending on the voltages I can get some really high core #'s with voltages that I can crash instantly on a cold start, or even a restart (core cools down so much in that time for me), with lower values.
Best I think was 1.25V core able to hit 665. Yet 625 was shakey at times with it, expecially the ram it had to be at or below 650 and less then 2V otherwise it would lock up instantly.

Seems to be working from cold start standpoint. I'd love to give another .05V to the memory but not sure. Does anyone know or can find what the "stock" voltage for these ram chips are to run at 700Mhz? Currently its basically a 16% Overvolt from stock, which seems to be the "limit" in most OC's when overvolting.
My tests consist of Quake 4, Fear, Ghost Recon (damn picky) AoEIII, 3D Mark 03/05 (will try 01 again now that its uninstalled once again), rthdrible for 4 hours open (crashes usually in 30-60min if instability) and its easy to pick up artifacts.
Do me a favour and try 01 again and run Filtering test especially test 1 (single filt).Quote:

Just the damn ram I had was unstable and causing issues (evil ram) and degraded in preformance over time. And the other mem voltage = @ stock. It did not seem to improve clocking.
But i think i have a reay sukky card. Its a Ref to en features 2.0 ns ram :\ To thats why i have a max of 690 mhz. Stock voltage max was 560-610.
Those 2.0 ns mem modules run fast but i liked the 1.4 better. I did 820 with those :\. So its a new card for me. Hopefully the R580 will be here fast.

I can run 600+Mhz again, just these XTreme-G WarCats 5.11XT makes more speed, but also make artefacts at 550Mhz on GPU

Another thing, is 01 that picky about the voltages on the graphics card?
I mean I can't use anymore then 1.125V at default without it crashing on the core. That just seems odd. So does that really mean that anything over that is truely unstable?
Not to sound rude guys but that is the kind of stuff that turned me away from the XL and straight to the XT. Too many variables, what you think is stable isn't, the problems some users have that others don't etc. The XT is a by far stronger card and much more stable. From now on I only get the high end models of the video cards as the extra money is well worth it I feel. My XL behaved like crap for me and I regretted buying it after all the little issues myself and others have had in terms of stability, voltage problems, crashes in 01, black squares etc.

Well re-ran 01, OCed with my 615.6/729 with the fillrate test only. The game tests don't like me on that I guess.

It isn't just your card. I had issues with 01 as well. IT would complete every run however setting it up for a loop hours on end would always crash to desktop as if it was never running at all. That was with a measily overclock of 575/550. I had to bump voltage up just to get it to loop for hours on end with crashing. I can only imagine how much harder it would be on your higher clocked/already high voltage running cards.
In all honesty as well I think it is the way these new cores run cause my XT crashes in 01 if I have it clocked too high as well however it would run longer than the XL before crashing and at much higher speeds. I had 01 looping for over 2 hours before it crashed but that was at stock voltage 690/800. If I dropped the core down to 675-680 it would loop forever (well until I stopped it anyways which was quite a few hours later).

Curious it says ~2.5V max yet also it says 1.9V max in another part right below. But yet the 1.2ns ram runs @ 2.0V stock on the XT. So my guess is these can really run upwards of 2.5V? Is that true?
