wow that setup will give you a decent boost..........according to a user here at XS going from Thermaltake SI-120 to Apogee resulted in 8-10C temp drop :)Quote:

Running my 1x1GB (until the other comes back from rma  ) at 278MHz with 9/10 divider. The memory controller is not that good, it won't run 1T I have to use 2T, but what do I care.
165 0534 seems to be better than 170 0534
what kind of cooling you running repoman

i don't know about that my 165 is prime stable at 1.43v 2.6GHz.....not the fastest out there but can't go wrong with FX60 speeds either and low voltageQuote:

0541's that I was playing with seemed pretty similar, stable at 2.6/2.7
The only problem is I am on a stock heatsink, so I dont know. Perhaps the 0534 has more left in her, just waiting for my new heatsink to arrive. I am also waiting to put my 170 0530 under water.
So far my 170 CCBWE 0534 SPMW is looking good.I have 2.8GHz about 8 hours prime stable at 1.5v I must do more burning. Witch is better for burning:
running stock volts or running about 1.5 volts and highest semi stable frequency?
I had two 165 0536MPMW. One clears 2600@1,45V but won't go further. The other one wouldn't hear about overclocking at all : it wouldn't boot in windows with 220*9, even with a Vcore bump (1,4V). I thought about a bad contact (even if temps at stock were normal - 21 idle, 25 Load), but when I removed the CPU block I could see the AS5 evenly spread on the CPU and the block.Quote:

I just ordered another Opteron 170. Man these things are shooting up in price. I am going to eb@y my old one when I get it.
Now to see if I can do anything xcept spi 32M.
Off to run some S&M :cord:
My humble OC :D

/edit
As usual, no go w/ anything useful, so running @ 2.8 (2xD2OL) @ 1.35vcore. Maybe next year I will play after the BBQ :D
My wife now has a supercomputer, since I have to fight w/ her Ultra-D
Mine is running like rock @ 10x270 (2GB Z503) / 1.525Vcore (0541.RPMW :( )
Hers is running @ 10x280 (1GB GS TCCD, 0440) maybe just needs some SLLLOOOWWWW Stretches :D
mad mike..........very nice.......what is the highest 32M with two instances running at the same time :D
wow reallyQuote:

Just got a Ballistix PC4000 2x1GB kit of Z503. Here's what she does on my Gigabyte :stick: board with my CPU-limited o/c. Anyone think I should try lower timings or go for gold and hit higher mem clocks with a 9x multi?

Finally two 170 Opties came in from the long-ago flooded OPB's house :D
They look sexy, don't they (despite of the last pic being pretty bad)? :D And the stepping... 0530TPMW :slobber:
Results will follow later ;)

It is core1 that always fails me at the lower voltages.
Burned it in a few times now.
But could not see any noticeable difference at higher clock, only at 2,5-2,6Ghz core1 now needs less volts.
I'd love to see this one hitting 2800Mhz...:nono:

It now completed 38 hours dual-prime at 2695 MHz.Quote:

With 4 GB of RAM, too.
mine is rly pissing me off. im just trying to get 260x10 stable at a somewhat low voltage, i can only get it stable at 1.45v . anything above 260 isnt stable, at least at 1.5v its not.

This is frustrating, I am really tempted to just put my 0530 opty 175 in and call it a day.
edit: I really think it is this DFI board. I was testing with my trusty asus A8N-E and I had no problems doing 2800 with my opty 165.
I am going to get to the bottom of this, but I am really not very fond of the expert so far.
oooooooooh can i have one ? throws $$$ your way :DQuote:

I was wondering what watercooling do you use on your opteron170. And what are load temperatures?Quote:

how much burning in did you do already?
Since I need 1,6+ for 2800 on my 0534SPMW
Another update on my opteron 165 in DFI expert.
Letting it just sit for a few days seemed to have done something.
Did a little bump up to 1.6vcore with big typhoon, seems happy for now. Seeing if I can lower it after a good 12 hours of prime, maybe it will be stable at 1.55vcore, which i would be much more comfortable with.
My core0 sucks, seems like core1 can do 2800+, but core0 just cant do it.
Currently- HTT: 305 Core speed: 2745 Voltage: 1.6
I would take some screenshots, but my crappy overclock isnt even worth the effort.
I REALLY wish DFI would fix their BIOS. My big Typhoon rocks, but i have no idea what my vcore temp is.
According to Smartguardian it is a nice cool 40C, yah right.
I am guessing it is about 60, which is on the edge, but it is holding stable.
BTW, the bigtypoon: nice cooler, sucks to install.
I ship 12 Opteron 165 BOX "CCBWE 0546 SPMW" tomorrow, soon result :)
(Don't MP me, any stock now, but you can order ... see For Sale section).
honestly guys there are alot of 0543TPMW's shipping right now and they are almost if not just as good as the 0530's.
