Has anybody tried using a Xeon 1660 in this board?
I assume you're on water? 1.53 sounds very deadly vcore for longer use. Might just be an average chip, my 3930K C2 needs 1.38V to be AVX-P95 stable overnight for only 4.5 GHz. :( Of course it might need some tuning as well, but so far just seems that I got bad luck again. :)
Remember to add an active fan over the VRM.
No, I used noctua NH-D14 SE2011 + 3x gentle typhoon 2150rpm
I also can do 4.5 Ghz stable with 1.4V, 4.8Ghz need 1.5V stable, but 5Ghz not stable even with 1.55V ?
Just a bad CPU mate. With SB-E there are very few tricks/gimmicks to CPU overclocking, just like SB. It's a lottery :)
I've had one C1 and 2 C2's and they have ranged from not even booting in Win7 with 5Ghz at 1.5v to running Vantage over and over and over with 1.47v.
Ordered a new toy from runmc, cant wait to try it out on this board. Bye Bye water cooling :D
He finished the sleeving today, should ship out weds.

Wow. just wow Asus!
After fighting with them, they agree to send my a 3rd Rampage, but I have to pay for the all the repairs for my broken PCI latch and shipping cost, because it's impossible it was weak. I`m responsible.
Got the replacement yesterday, lost 2 hours taking my broken Rampage out my case, and... surprise! the ``brand new`` Rampage I got yesterday has BENT PINS on the CPU socket!
So it`s impossible I had a weak broken latch, but the brand new board they sent me has bent pins? They will probably say I did it! Just c-a-r-e-f-u-l-l-y pop the black protector from the CPU socket and there was bent pins!!!!
So I don't know what to do anymore. I have 2 broken Rampage on my kitchen table, one with a dead PCI slot (that must have been absolutely broken be me, since it`s impossible there was a weak latch...), and a ``replacement`` with bent pins.
Sigh. 500$ ROG mobo. Should I laugh or cry, i don't know. First rampage caught on fire after 15 minutes, 2nd one has a broken PCI slot, 3rd one has bent pins...Wow Asus. Simply wow... Lemon protection lol?
Someone is trying to tell you something...
I'm super sorry to hear you are having these issues. I'm sure it's very disappointing and frustrating. As for Lemon protection, I'm doubting that applies though. There are dozens of guys here on XS alone that have had a good experience with the RIVE. In fact, take me for instance. I've had 3 RIVE mobos pass through my hands so far and all of them have been perfect. One in my current system, and 2 in builds for friends. I'm not saying you did anyhting wrong, but the odds of having trouble with 3 boards in a row is pretty slim. At some point other folks with either be looking at your approach to handling the hardware, or that perhaps you've just had a rotten run of luck. I think it would be a stetch to say that there is something inherently wrong with the RIVE quality and function. Just too many success stories versus the trouble reports. I'd say your experience is not likely the norm. Although going though RMA again sucks, I'd stick to your guns about the bent pins as there are other reports, and secure a new board. Good luck.
Has anyone got any tips / guides for tweaking the RAM past 2400Mhz? I know my chips handled some Gskil RAM previously ~2500Mhz but this RAM seems a no go for anything more than 2400Mhz...
How do you explain all the people complianing about bent pins at newegg?

I am personally a little bugged about it and I have have been looking at other boards.
