My system fully tweaked! Here my max setting! Till i get a 580GTx and 980x cpu!

I decided to run Vantage today with the new 262.99 drivers and ended up with this:

can you resize yo picz?

vantage never crashed

Why on earth would you waste your money on a GTX 580 when you already have a GTX 480 OC'ed to 900MHz/1800MHz/ 4000MHz? Paying $600 dollars for a (GTX 580) slight increase in performance is absolutely nuts! Your overclocked GTX 480 already equals a GTX 580 in performance.
-Systemlord
Its doesnt equal a 580 in performance a 580 is alot fastest! It gets around 30,000 Vantage score on the cpu! My 480 get 24000 Vantage cpu score! I was looking to sli my 480 but when the 580 came out i changed my mind! The 580 is alot better card! With people getting 1000 on the core!
I haven't seen a single 1000MHz overclock on air or water yet, and the performance gain isn't *THAT* higher when you overclock both cards to nearly the same clocks. There is a difference that favours the 580, but to justify the investment... i don't really think so?
1000Core 1200Mem!Here mate seen impressive!

I wasn't talking about synthetic benchmarks but "real world" FPS ingame performance, mind you that you don't just have a standard overclocked GTX 480 but an above average overclock! "You won't see much of a performance difference in games between the two cards as that has already been proven by many review sites. You can choose to ignore those reviews if you wish.

Quote:
"There's no reason to upgrade whatsoever. However if you're in the market for a pre-overclocked GTX 480 or this reference 580, then obviously the 580 must have your preference as that card at default is as fast as the standard overclocked GTX 480 cards".
Messed around setting up Afterburner profiles last night. My pc room was getting really quite hot after a couple of hours gaming at 1150mv 850/1950. My cards arent good clockers, average at best Vid 1000mv and 1050mv.
Ended up with the following 5 profiles in afterburner:
|..Vid...|Sli Clock..|MSI 1050mv|PNY 1000mv
0975mv|700/1800.|.705/1866..|.733/1810
1000mv|750/1800.|.750/1912..|.775/1805
1025mv|775/1850.|.780/1978..|.835/1866
1050mv|800/1850.|.805/2025..|.855/1860
1150mv|850/1950.|.850/2090..|.866/1966
Hope that table worked and the forum didnt bork it :p:.
Didnt lose as much clock going from single card to sli as I expected. I lost some 30mhz core and 50mhz mem going sli with gt200b. Shame my cards are so different. The PNY is good for core but doesnt scale past 1083mv, but sucks for memory yet scales right up to 1150mv. The MSI core sucks but scales all the way to 1150mv, yet the memory on it is awesome. Running clocks out of sync the best I can get in sli is 850/2025 | 860/1955 still at 1150mv both cards. Above 1150mv I get grey/brown screens from the msi. The PNY can take more but doesnt scale - clocks actually start going down above 1150mv.
Im running at the 975mv setting. I've lost no graphics details or noticed by eye any fps drops in my games, so happy days. It actually runs cooler than stock clocks stock vid too, so a winner all round.

I wouldn’t say a lot faster! A lot more efficient cooling. If your benching I would understand the upgrade, but for gamming what a waste of money.

Hodgy.
I would like to see some websites test the GTX 580 overclocked to 1000MHz and compare the results just to see how much more FPS you get for that huge overclock, I will admit that if your wanting to stay with air cooling for the time being the improved cooling and quieter fan is a big plus! People are hitting 975 ~ 1000MHz on air cooling, one can only imagine what a 28nm die shrink will bring!
I've installed an Arctic Cooling Accelero Xtreme Plus on my GTX 470 and the temps are quite low now! Before I had 70c idle (dual monitor) and 95c full load and now I have 35c idle (Dual monitor) and 55c full load.
I've noticed that in 260 branch drivers is not possible to downclock memory speeds to under 1250mhz x2, with 256 branch I was able to lower them to something like 200mhz, as that gives quite lower idle temps.
Also some display settings are borked like digital color format (RGB or YCbCr444) gives the same output.
So, I'm quite impressed. I jumped on that Microcenter i7 950 deal and my first pass in Vantage was unreal. Running an inexpensive evga refurb 3x SLI x58 with 12gb Corsair DDR3 1600. I simply set the BCLK to 150 and have my cards GPU Clock at 731 MHz - PhysX on in this run. I made the jump from a 1090T with 3-way GTX 470 and so far am very impressed.

Last run with Q9550 before upgrade to i7 rig, everything aircooled.

Just put my Omni coolit gpu cooler on my gtx470 and loaded temps folding at 1.1v 800/1800 are at 58*C and it is nearly silent. Really an awesome cooler considering it only takes up 1 slot too.
Hey Dude how did you managed to uper the voltage using afterburner my one only lets me overvolt to 1.138 we have the same GPU and the same BIOS... can you help me out?? ;)
