never evga is taking their sweet time with this one...
:(
Oh well, more time to get the money for some serious 12 core action...
I'm going to wager a guess and say beginning to mid May...but I'm hoping for tomorrow :D
Maybe I missed it on their web site, but as far as I can tell, evga doesn't seem to publish detailed owner's manuals or even detailed specs for their motherboards--just short "installation" guides. Very odd.
@Movieman: any idea if the current board supports 4GB ECC RAM modules? Between an uncertain release date and possible as-yet-unknown firmware problems, I'm tempted to go with a Supermicro board instead, even though it would mean giving up overclocking. Are there any compelling features that would make it worth the wait / risk?
Dave were is the update, april is nearly over are we on water yet !!!!
Or is going live in may at full chat!!!!
The board supports ECC and is listed as supporting 48 gig of memory so my guess is yes to this but that is just an educated guess.
If you want to send me 12x4 gig DDR3-1333 ECC I'll be glad to stick them in and we can verify this.:D
I heard that "some" boards have been shipped to US retailers..;)
Semirelated, just received word ULV/LV should be supported. Also read over on EVGA forums that XMP will NOT be supported. Of course that may change as BIOS matures after initial release but that is from Shamino himself and locked multipliers. I'm not sure how this is different from non Exterme Core i7s.
A little disappointing but still OK. Anxiously waiting for release and GTX 465 SLI future goodness.
How this is different..
Like the song,"Let me count the ways."
Typical dual socket 1366 workstation board..
Setup,run,done..NOTHING adjustable.
SR2 board:
Look at the bios on a single socket EVGA classified board and imagine it has settings for two sockets and your close.
You can adjust every parameter on this board that you can think of and a few you never thought of.
Today is May4,I've had it running since March 16 at 100% load 24/7
solid as a rock and remember,mine is a prerelease board,Rev .1..
Still running the 33 bios and they are up to 46 and it's still rock solid.
I have X5680's on air with TRUE's and 113cfm fans.
Machine is at 25x168=4200 and yesterday the room it was in was 84F and not a twitch from that system and it was rocking 70C at that speed in that heat.
Yes, it was a gift and yes, I think the world of Peter, but those facts aren't what had me calling Newegg last Friday to see if I could reserve 20 of them for the guys on the WCG team.
You know that old line of "The best thing since sliced bread"?
This is..
I rest my case..
so zsamz what about we start a uber elite club here in quebec. The Quebecois Sr-2 owner club. I think we would only be 10 max. Its too bad mc 4socket rig are not overclockable. WOuld have loved to beat you MM with some green crush.Look like we will have to wait also for bulldozer and sandy bridge to see a 20k boinc ppd rig.

The boards appeared to come in stock briefly at evga.com. I was able to add one to my cart, but the check-out failed. When I tried again, they were out of stock.
Hi! Does anyone know if someone has tested the SR-2 with E5520's?
Thanks :)!
@Movieman: based on your experience with the SR-2 so far, do you have any OC tips? Dos and don'ts, tools, etc?
It should work fine. You might take a look on the evga forum for more details. For example:
http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.aspx?m=388163
when are you posting pics & results of your water cooled setup?
