Mystic Merlin departed to New Jersey USA ?>"
I think he left to avoid the steam rolling that was 2 days away. :stick:
I've got some plewdawg in my sights...then all I can see is this pink fluffy thing. Is that you Dave?
Do you get a cheaper electric rate over winter for "heating"? Could be an excuse to arc up some otherwise less economical hardware. ;)
If I can get all I have here finally built I could hold him off.
Just returned a Asus Z7S WS and debating on getting another SM X7DWA-N or holding the money for 30 days and getting a dual gainstown board..I'm leaning toward the latter..
All depends on whether I can get the gainstown chips at a sensible price.
Yeah ... what the heck, get the dual socket unit. That's what "bakes your cookies" anyway, isn't it.
Hmmm ... makes it a hard call then. Patience will win in the end, I think.
Based on i7 results, I am currently calculating with a 50% increase in PPD for the Gainstown vs. Harpertown setup at identical clockrates (even though the FSB matters a lot for the latter). According to that, a 4Ghz Dual Gainstown should do over 62k/d which is 50% more than my Harpers do. Scale down the clock and you are at that 15k increase of yours
A big congratulations to mcoffey for getting a slice of the coveted PIE...
