I finally had a few minutes to try out a little extra voltage on my new 3060.
This is at 1.7v bios (1.60v w/droop)
Core 2 Extreme X6800 4.0ghz 10x400 - Pi32m stable (1.65v - 1.62v after vdroop) - Water cooled - Abit IN9 32X Max - Cellshock PC8000 (D9GKX) @ 800 4-4-4-12 2.1v 1:1 Linked.

Well lets see. I'm using this SP2400 Orthos beta. I can burn the CPU all day long. If I include the RAM at this speed it goes off after about 3 minutes. But the RAM can go all night, error free with memtest86+. So I'm wondering if the beta has issues? I also can't get a monitoring program to see what's happening Sandra for instance reports no sensor available. So I don't trust half the stuff I'm seeing. Oh ya, I'm also surfing and listening to music while doing the burn test. Anyway, here's my mess:
E6400 @3.2GHz 8x400 vCore 1.325V in BIOS but shows 1.29 on the guru. Stock Intel HS Fan. EIST and FanEq disabled. ABIT AB9 BIOS 16. Orthos for stability check at 3+ hours. RAM is 1GB GEIL Ultra 2.3V (2x512) DDR2 800 @ 1000MHz CPU to DDR ratio set at 4:5 timings at 5-5-5-13-2T. (insert Porky Pig voice here) "The the the that's all folks!"

^^ Ram running error free in memtest, no matter for how long does not mean it will be error free in windoz :)
Im at 3.9ghz pi32m stable. I cant quite get prime stable yet, think i have heat issues with my abit IN9. I was running 1.55v through the NB and hav a fan placed above it (vantec stealth 92mm). The sodding heat pipe system on this board just isnt man enough to cool at these voltages

I have Core2Duo E6300
My temps at idle are 51-54, and under load (not even 100% stress) shoot up to 63-6x+
I seated and reseated cooler dor 10 times, checked the CPU and cooler surface, i replaced stock contact paste with more quality like paste. and still no improvement.
i read that the deafults should be 30-35 idle.
I overclocked nothing, all is on auto, motherboard is ASUS P5B-Deluxe/wifiap
Programs used to measure temps are coretemp and TAT.
My deafult vcore is 1.28v checked with Cpu-Z
HELP!! :(

Hi
You can try setting voltages by hand, just to try .
If you lapped the IHS than u might have some metal dust in the socket by now. Or, what did u do just before temps got so high, and I assume System Temp is normal .
But what I really think, The only thing to hope for now is faulty temp readings. For checking that you must install the CPU on another mobo.
Good Luck
I tried setting voltages by hand and still no luck, still high temps. Besides the fact that i have 0.4 vdropp !!!
I tested on another mobo ASUS P5 somethong with integrated gpu, and temps on idle were 30-35. (same stock cooler)
I didnt lapp IHS (beacuse atm its flat as it should be ) but i was planning when i OC this baby to shave few degrees off, which i cannot start beacuse it doesnt even work properly on stock settings.
And yes systems temps is normal.
I will probably RMA the board, which will probably be a huge problem, cause here if it works, its a big fight to get it replaced... but i am just buffled by this overheating.... and i will do my best to get a new one.
I've just hoped that someone had seen something like this before, because in my 8 years as sys builder i havent... :(

I have seen. the winbond is reporting wrong temps. or so.
I have an old mobo that beside that , loses user Bios settings if PSU is shut down ( = off the wall socket).
but speculating is irrelevant. what you can do is.
* you can flash the mobo again , and to earlier Bios ( higher than 1000 if u remember Asus warning)
* If that doesn't happen you could OC regardless - relying on the CPU to throttle down or shutdown etc.
* or , try a new CPU on the mobo - most likely this will verify that the mobo is somewhat faulty.
* Or replace the mobo (the previous option will help in convincing ) .

I am using latest official bios, and temps were same with 3 diferent versions : 0804 0910 and 1101. In bios it shows 15-20 degrees lower temp for CPU but mmb temp is same form within windows and bios. I dont know what else to do, i cant even do Orthos for 5 mins on 90% without going 65C+... no other why then to RMA and get official opinion...
94c I read there. You could cook yourself dinner on that. I think coretemp needs updating as its probably wrong, 0.95 it should be
Most Ive had was 83c which isnt safe either probably
65c is fine, 70c is fine
CoreTemp is OK :)
4 T calibration difference look here:

You can try riva C2D plugin if You dont know how instal it go here
You have in attachment idle core Temps 4 my CPU.
I am a bit confused.. isnt the max temp of core supposed to be 65C according to Intel whitepaper specs?
Also what is the vcore voltage of E6300 conroe core? mine on auto is 1.176 and i hear that it varies from model to model ; 1.285 and some have 1.3, 1.35 being the max recommended by Intel
61.4C to be exact ,
my 6300 , with Speedstep , runs at 1.128V - 1.256V
Sure the 'auto' max temp is 65 and it'll probably throttle past that but you can turn those features off and see higher temps without problems. The Tjunction temp is 85 and the most Ive seen is 83 with still no bad effects.
My opinion is 70 is a good regular max to aim for if you dont care about running hot otherwise. i dont think any damage is done at higher temps, even if it did the cpu would probably be worth 20 dollars by the time it showed up.
Past 70 there seems to be stability issues from temp alone that voltage wont compenstate for so well
First Attempt at a E6400
Mr.Kakarot - 3171 MHz Prime stable (1.5v) | external water cooler | ASUS P5W DH Deluxe current bios 1901 I think? Mushkin xp2 6400 4-4-4-10

I just woke up from a dream where I was visiting an old employer of a mom/pop pc shop. Among his stock I found a 1.025 VID 6420. Too bad I didn't stay long enough to try it out. :(
When you start dreaming of computers, its time to wake up in the real world :)
Ewe, no, then I have to fix them!
Would some one please send me the bois setting to maximize my E6400 chip please i have the asus p5w dh and cruccial blastic ram 4-4-4-12-4 tracer ram ,

Could you predict how this chip would go? 24/7 stable? Water temp stays at 28C MAX
You cant really predict how any chip will be, but that one seems to be a good one. Prim-ing for that long at 3.8 is really good, just keep the voltage as low as you can while keeping it stable, and you should be fine.
