fhantastic, beautiful photos!
another option, depending on what kind of sleeving/and heatshrink you're using is...its perfectly possible to just wiggle it right over top without removing *might have to shave the edges a bit, but*
I actually used that trick on the SATA cables. I cut the sleeving extra long and after getting it on the cable I trimmed it up with scissors and it turned out pretty well. I might try the same trick with the USBs too, depends on how ambitious I feel at the time. :D
I'm about to sleeve my video card power cables, and I wanted to glance at a few examples to see how others did it. In the process, I thought I'd take a look at MDPC to see some really clean ones. What I saw upset me:

How the heck did Charles do that? What kind of shrink can you get to make a seamless transition from the cable to OVER the connector like that? And where do I get some? Now I'll never be satisfied with anything I do, because I'll never be as good as Charles, lol.
Seriously though, where can I find some shrink like that? I LOVE the way that turned out. I also noticed that in the past he used to sleeve each of the video card wires individually, but for this build he bundled them into one. I think it came out much cleaner and since I'm not on water yet, I need as little air restriction as possible.
So really I'm asking Charles but if anyone else has some insight they can offer I'd really appreciate it. What size sleeving & shrink should I be buying (from MDPC-X, of course) in order to pull this look off? I'm initially thinking I need the "SATA" sets, but I'm not sure.
I have a different idea with the connectors themselves (I'm trying to come up with a way to make it look like one big connector and one medium-sized wire), but I want to make sure I don't shoot myself in the foot at any step along the way.
Thanks!
I asked Nils the same question lol.
It's SATA sleeve, Nils isn't sure if he stretched the sata shrink or used the jumbo shrink, either would work though ;)
Hey Jason,
It's the Large shrink on SATA sleeve... just a bit of trial and error Mate.
I wanted to be sure the wires in Daniel's machine didn't move or flop around - even after being transported half way around the planet!
I found that you could put the shrink in place, heat it and then bend it to the shape you wanted before it cooled and hardened. Obviously it took a bit of messing with to get it looking right... as I recall, it's actually two layers of shrink - one to grip the sleeve to the cable and the other to mold the outer shape.
With this method, the wires are held firmly in place...
Hope that helps. :)
Thanks for the rapid help Charles! I was actually looking at it before and suspecting two layers of shrink.
Back to work!
Any chance I could make the same thing work with the 8-pin cables?
Having stripped my HAF down today, to make way for my new build http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=232515
I have the Enermax Rev 1050w psu, and am planning on individually sleeving all the cables. The PCI-e cables that come directly out are 6 + 2, what is the best way to hide the 2 unwanted cables? I can see removing the connectors, but one is still going to have too much cable.
With the modular 6+2, is it OK to just remove the 2 extra wires?
Next up is the front audio connector, only need the HD part, so once again is it OK to remove the non HD connector?
Perfect sleeve mate. Top job.

Hi guys :D

@ aka_GK
wonderful job!
thanks guys :D
What kind of symptoms would I experience if I would have plugged the wrong pins on my 24pin atx cable. Im experiencing random crashes and my Maximus formula flashes it's diagnostics leds...or rather leaves the dram led glowing red etc. I't all started when my Corsair HX1000 had 2 wires coming off from the pins on the 24pin line on their own  Not what you'd expect to see from 200€ powersupply.
