The only drive i got to sata atm is backup drive without OS on it. Main one is still on temp IDE drive till i get a 2nd drive. Next week i will get a 2nd one to put OS on it though..if F8 does not fix it by then for you I let you know how my install goes. But I don't foresee any problem honestly.
Its already here. To be honest I dont expect much, I am anticipating staying with the P5B-E anyways. But for some real comparisons I want to take a known good overclocker and just see what the ds3 can do.Quote:

Looks like this is more than just replacing the micron controller. It also has two 16x PCI-e slots too. The power regulation around the CPU is beefier as well. Newegg also dropped the price on the DS3 down to $129.00 + shipping. Looks like if you want a new and improved BIOS you're going to have to pony up for a new MOBO. :explode2:

I wonder if GB has any plans to incorporate some way to save BIOS profiles like DFI has reloaded and Asus has the BIOS profile option. Would be nice to be able to save BIOS profiles for OCs.

Overall I'd have to say it was a good pickup at the egg for $129; surely it will be more with the extra material and functionality (which I really don't need...one video card is exspensive enough). on a side note the DS3P (rev2) looks to be awesome. It has everything that was missing from the DS3. Add in all of those things and the rev 2 looks like it could be the perfect board. And will probably knock the P5B-E off from being the top OC'ing 965 mobo.

My friend's 6600 runs at 3.4 ghz and hits 68-73c with a zalman heatpipe cooler. This is a SI 128; I just kicked orthos off b4 going to bed and it just kept running. Takes it a while to get that hot; I don't normally "marathon stress". What are you guys on air running?
60c is tops i would go if you run it underload a lot. C2D throttle at 85c so 70+ is pretty extreme.

I have still the same issues. But the worst thing is, that with X-Fi enabled (in device manager) my video playback is a bit weird. Video sometimes skips o bit (a few frames) and i get some "std dev frame time" and "std dev sync offset" in video renderer(shows quality of playback). If I disable X-Fi in Device manager, everything is fine and I have no skips.

The DS4 looks more like a stripped down version of the DQ6, but both with 2 x16 (1 x4 electrical) PCI-E slots. The DS3 only has one x16 PCI-E slot and is on a smaller board. It might be better to wait for the 2nd rev for the DS3, the DS3P.Quote:

1. New features: HPET, actual timings shown in BIOS(finally, thx for that)
2. I'm ONLY on 400MHz FSB so i can't tell any difference there.
3. Memory latency has increased from 70ns->73ns with the same memory timings (using newest Sandra Ultimate)
4. no problems so far...
I have a question about HPET, is it a new feature you added(enabled on board) or it's just a new options in BIOS that allows us to disable it?
btw. Is there a way to flash DQ6 BIOS to a DS4 board?

That is not what i asked...
I know what is HPET and how does it work. I wanted to know, if it was enabled in chipset even in older BIOS revisions. We know they added options to disable/enable it (in F7E) but we don't know if that feature(not options) was enabled BEFORE the F7E.
Any way of getting E6600 to use x9 multi when TM is enabled? Seems mine just always stays at x6 regardless of temps.

Gigabyte DS4 here, still problems with usb devices connected when booting when overclocking... (with F7e).
I thought the DS-4 would do the same as the DS-3, when it comes to the compatibility with the D9 sticks from ebay. Yesterday I found out that this was not the case. These sticks wont boot with various SPD's (they booted at a Biostar with no problem). I think there's no solution to this problem ? :rolleyes:
If someone from Gigabyte is reading this forum I would like to tell them that they should mind the compatibility problems (i.e. X-Fi, USB devices when booting) as well as the overclocking capability of the board. The board being able to WORK actually with most hardware is really important too
