How/what do you test with to get the "totally stable" conclusion ?

^Yeah, yours is nice in terms of vgpu requirement, but it doesn't go much faster ;) Just doesn't have the same effect as with CPU's in terms of clocks.

Im trying to see how far my GPU/Mem can go, sometimes I get like a quick flash of black screen from Crysis2 or a red lens flare effect from Heaven 2.5, too much GPU or mem ?
mem
Colour distortions in my experience are shader or mem. GPU pushed too far used to get big spikes/depth of field and large colour planes but with modern architecture just lockups. Mem is what I'd look at first, but it could be the shaders too.
Cryptik, are your vantage score with ppu disabled?
Yes, PPU disabled. Enabled would have a much higher CPU score.
I have my mem only at 2200Mhz, with Heaven 2.5 Mem was not even overclocked. just 900core, so im guessing shaders is the culprit.

970mhz second test crashed, tho 1.15v max with stock cooler and max voltage with stock BIOS, not bad at all
my card needs 1.025 to run 960mhz...

i have a bottleneck from cpu i7 920 C1 stepping 191x21 , that right ?
no you are not , for 4ghz is good score.. try and rise up the vga speed ...
Thank you, I will try .
yes, only a open window ... in air max oc was 960 with 1.138, now fo the same voltage i can bench at 990mhz :P
Dear Sir ..
There is no stability at all after the 938 volt 1150, Is it possible to be a problem from the power supply?
I use the Zalman power of 750 watts with 8 +6 bin and use the additional link, these are:

Sorry about the language
hi there!! should not be empty, there must be all 6 + 8 cables, no one should be empty, and 938mhz with 1.150 is really "confused"
That's an odd looking 6 pin PCI-E cable, it was my understanding they should be like so:
+12v+12v1+12v (3 +12v lines)
VSS VSS VSS (3 ground lines)
That's how the PSU's with native 6 pin PCI-E cables are arranged. Might want to look into getting one with all 6 lines, or better yet a PSU with proper native support. It might not help your overclock though, some cards can't do 900MHz stable, so at 938 you are doing pretty well.
No idea, I don't bench Vantage with it on.
edit.
my card can manage 990mhz on the core & 2395 mem without using 1.150v .... i think is a lucky one...
It may be possible with enough voltage, but you need to be able to keep it cool. If you are maxed at 938 @ 1.15v depending on how you card keeps scaling it may need more than 1.17v
950mhz speed, is a speed that any 580 reference or not can manage, btw ... i still think that 1.170 for 950 is too much, when i was on stock cooling on my card, the max speed was 960/970 with 1.125 and 1.138, not with liquid cooling with the same voltage i can bench at 987/990 mhz, depending on the waterloop temp :D (got two loops! )
thanks evry one ..
can help me hear :
