So no dedicated servers for individual players or no dedicated servers whatsoever? I'm new to online console gaming, my recent experience is Uncharted 2, and the ranking system is total crap, you have to wait 4 minutes between games, and you always have to exit because it's even slower to party up with your last game...
To sum up, in the past month IW just cut down MW2 with:
No dedicated servers
18 players cap
Steamworks crap
So I guess I'll play just the single player of MW2

Ofc you got DSL, Cable and fibre and the last 2 can offer more then enough upload. But overhere in the Netherlands most people will have DSL wich mostly caps out at 20megabit down and 1 megabit up. And as we all know u usually dont even get near the advertised speed with DSL.
ive got an upload of 4.8 wich is enough but they will have to pay me to go and buy that game.
And this is ofc if u dont have another PC running BT or something. Cause most people who will end up buying it dont know what p2p is and will simply run BT on the background.
Home broadband connections usually have lower upload then download. Since upload is the biggest factor for peer performance, upload will have the greatest effect. You may run into problems before you expect.Quote:

So that clarifies things (as if they weren't clear enough), IW wants to become a console developer, Activision moves the threads, IW obeys, make a WWII game and voilá, console games ported to PC.
While I can understand single player games can be pirated easily in PC than in consoles (at least the average PC owner knows how to do it, with console owners you've got a more varied population), why piss the online gamers that are the only ones that cannot pirate the game? I'm still waiting for IW to explain how the changes in the PC version "are for the better" too...

Delight yourself with some BC2 Mp action, there will be a beta of the game on Pc in December, open to all, supposedly DX11 if everything goes according to plan :D Should be very interesting! :)

Yeah can't wait for the BFBC2 beta to come out. My clan is a big supporter of BF games and are really really looking forward to this game. Just about all of us said IW can go to hell with MW2. But then again we really didnt pick up on any of the CoD type games and after what IW and Activision been doing with the MP and upping of the price it's chase closed. Hell for $60 bucks I can get 3 games of Shattered Horizon's and give 2 to my bud's.

we are the group that makes sales, and online only (or what is purchased for online only) will never sell to casual users, and no matter what they think about the pc hardcore being a small part of the hardcore, its not. i have never seen any console gamer that even understood how maps work on cod or halo or gears or kill zone, the pc hardcore is a completely different lvl from the hardcore console gamer.Quote:

On another forum i read a bit that several other download sites like Direct2Drive, Gamersgate and others refuse to sell the game.
Mostly cause if u buy it at their site and download it there u stil have to instal Steam to activate the game and with future patches have to download them with Steam etc.
Further there are already pictures of the MW2 PC version manual. And it seems like even the manual is a Console to PC port.
xbox 360/PS3 version will generate more money/revenue for them, so thats what they care, the console versions... its all business
personally i hope this game fails badly (due to how they butchered the PC version), but i bet it will sell like 5+million copies in just couple months on the console

Yep - this game will be a good plan B. I'll bet IW comes around on this one, they didn't want to invest the time until the community reaction because they underestimated the demand. They will build it in once the console / PC games are released and they have captured all that release money.Quote:

There is one real problem with PC Gaming and that is the consultants. My wife worked for the world's largest consulting and accounting firm (PriceWaterHouseCoopers) and I have seen the proprietary studies of how much piracy costs developers on a yearly basis.
Piracy will kill/has killed PC Gaming, even though I agree that most of the people that download software are never going to buy that program/game/etc most of the studies done by the bean counters throughout the world do not take this into account. All the developers see is the huge cost of people downloading their software and how MS, Nintendo and Sony are at least attempting to counter piracy as much as they can.
