just one quick question, how much is set your Swap File in windows?
because i see there in the task manager during orthos that you have 1,20GB only, when i run orthos in blend the memory goes to 1,92GB almost full.
thanks

^ you've asked a very good question that I've bear in mind for sometime now.
I really don't know why Orthos is only loading 1.20g~ mem for testing whereas on my DS3 Rev3.3 board it goes up to 1.92~95 like you said....
Are you using Vista as well?
Maybe something isn't configured right...I don't know who could help us...90% users/oc'ers are on XP...
Is anyone having trouble launching TAT? Intel Thermal analysis tool with this mobo?? I always get an error when I open this program whereas I don't get this kind of error with other mobos I've tested and using the same OS.
so far...
http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/7418/shot0005ya1.jpg
it can boot at windows 550 max.
Right click on TAT icon and click run as admin, or go to properties and set it there..... Some progs in Vista you have to run as Admin to get in......
As for Orthos blend, my best guess is that at the time you took the screenie, it was testing your cpu and not rams... but thats just a guess....
Settings at fast/fast :D

Thanks Lui for the reply but if you read my previous msg again you'd know that I didn't have the error code " Error enumerating On Demand Clock Modulation support. Terminating Tool " everytime I launch this program when I was using the same OS - Vista Ultimate 32bit on previous mobos I've tested. ONLY on this mobo.

Since you're one of the few Vista user as well, could you pls tell me if you can launch TAT??
Thanks
That may have been what I did. I tried the sticks in the Asus P5W DH, & the Abit IN9 32-Max. One works the other causes the system to not post. I'm wondering if its still covered under the lifetime warranty. I'll never get a set like this again, (early 060505102XXXX) but I'm now down to two kits of G. SKill 6400HZ's and that's my prefered memory for 24/7 use.
iīm runnig VISTA to so thatīs why iīve asked!
everytime that ORTHOS runīs he locked 1.9GB of memory, games like STALKER "eat" all the physic memory avaiable so is better to make sure that the RAM is stable :)
By the way i canīt pass 440FSB no matter what i try, anyone have a pair of the new Gskill GBHK PC8500? just to have a ideia of the settings.
thanks
I am worried coz I have a pair of 0606 6400HZs and the original non-SLI Powerstream 520w....
alo
some little progress, the problem is when using 1\1 FSB strap, if i use de 2\3 dividir for example the memories make ddr1000 4-4-4-10 easy but at 1\1 i cant pass 460FSB now.
any idea of what or where maybe is the problem?
thanks
I can't run TAT on XP. There's a thread on the off DFI forums.
Yeah, and the funny thing is people are telling m e is a VISTA issue.
Apparently, it's not!
I was using all other mobos (check my sig) and TAT pick up my thermal readings accurately and I never get such an error code on the exact same OS - Vista Ultimate 32bit. I never had to do compatibility checked for Windows XP SP2 or run as admin..etc.
I highly suspect it's a conflict between the way TAT read your temp and our DFI board doesn't support TAT.
Now what confuses me is that Core temp and TAT both uses the same method of collecting data from the digital thermal sensor (DTS) and Core Temp 0.95 works just fine under Vista.
I'll post pics of my finalized stable OC for my CPU and RAM results with 10+ hours Orthos blend and 14+ hours Orthos small fft pics later for you guys to see that core temp is working perfectly under vista.
TAT doesn't work on the QuadGT either.
Getting better...

so it is TAT's error not dfi's

alo everyone
it is confirmed that the reason that i cant pass 450FSB is the cpu FSB Wall  :slapass:
so until i dont have a new one iīve spend today playing with the memories Gskill HK 8500
with some troubles finding the correct seetings the max i could get was this:
DDR1200 5-5-5-15 2,45v with 2\3 dividir E6420@3200 1.37v
http://img101.imageshack.us/img101/4...1200qo2.th.jpg
iīm happy with the result after the alot of troubles that happend since i bought the board, today also tried the 4\5 dividir for searching the 24h\7 settings but very unstable yet.
sorry for the testment itīs late her in portugal :)

965 drivers under XP Pro link
-Floppy Configuration Utility - Intel® Matrix Storage Manager [F6FLPY32.ZIP] 7.0.0.1020 5/4/2007
-INF Update Utility [INFINST_AUTOL.EXE] 8.2.0.1014 5/7/2007
I'm doing a reinstall of XP Pro and of course checked for the latest drivers before doing so. Intel recently updated their RAID and Chipset drivers for the 965 chipset, so I grabbed all 3 (F6, Chipset, Matrix). Immediately after coming to the desktop for the first time, I installed the latest chipset drivers and rebooted. My Razer mouse was not glowing and the keyboard lights wouldn't function by pressing caps lock. This persisted in Safe Mode, so I shut the system down...the light on the mouse remained. I thought perhaps it has something to do w/ changing the USB power on from S3 jumpers, so I defaulted both of those. (that feature doesn't work for me, any ideas?) Rather than attempt last known good or a repair, I threw windows on again. This time I would boot to an Acronis disc after install and get a nice image. Unfortunately, this didn't work either...couldn't find the OS says the disc. Well, it used to w/ the previous RAID drivers. I managed to install Acronis in Windows and make an image. Hopefully Acronis will have an update available for me that'll let me get that image back...or LKG perhaps.
If that doesn't work, I'm going to try Vista. I'm eager to play Halo 2 anyway. :D
So w/ that said, has anyone done a reinstall of XP recently only to find the latest May series of chipset drivers kill your USB ports on this DFI P965-S?
Hey JP, I just reinstalled my Vista Ultimate 32bit again and this time it seems everything went well. Orthos BLEND is stressing the memory properly now..this should answer you question.

It's very interesting how differently this board clocks each cpu. Everyone's different bios settings are almost useless. It seems we each will need to find what works with our hardware.

I seem to be hitting a wall between 405 - 410 FSB. I've tried lowering multi, upping voltage, and loosening the ram timings (5-5-5) and still a no go. CPU is fine at 400 x 8 on stock volts. This FSB wall doesnt seem to be CPU related but then again I dont remember these hard fsb walls with AMD chips. Any settings that directly effect max fsb? I've turned off all the CPU features in the advanced CPU settings. I've tried GTL mode 2 And DRAM mode 1 -3 with no luck. I havent yet played with the outer DRAM timings but the system boots into windows with ram clocked at 600mhz. Im pretty stumped.

nzbleach - in your shoes i would try two things...set the default strap to 266 in the genie bios page...and if that doesn't work i'd go for a 266fsb pinmod to that cpu.
i'm presuming it has a default fsb of 200
