All thermal throttling and fan control settings are disabled. I'm going to pull out the motherboard and try and reapply the AS5 and reseat the heatsink. Probably tomorrow or Thursday.Quote:

I did not disable anything and run stable at 7x430 (will go higher because I didn't even have to raise voltage yet, 2xPrime running for 20 hours).Quote:

I noticed that but only discovered the new VX today. I have the older one that needs a backing plate. I might just use that on another PC & wait until I can get one of the newer mdels from Thermaltake ...Quote:

Looks like I can run one of the two so far:
-9x380 (approx 3.42GHz) @ 1.375 Vcore. Load temps in Coretemp with small FFTs is 60-62.
-9x390 (3.5) @ 1.425 Vcore. Load temp is 65ish.
EasyTune reports a CPU temp of about 10 degrees lower. TAT reports about 3 degrees lower. Both are Orthos stable for about an hour, will test overnight of course...
I'm not convinced CoreTemp is a realistic judge of temps. After remounting the Infinity, the heatpipes are barely warm. Plus, I have seen others getting temps of 75 degrees and proclaiming their rigs stable.
Anyone else agree with this (e-mail reply from OPB when I was enquiring about RMA for my Team Xtreem):

this is OPB, I don't think you get the point how to get it stable
DS3 basically is the wrost board I don't even wanna take a look
it got tons of problem, I don't think our 800 4-4-41- is that bad.
I mean it's up to you if you wanna rma or not , try get a good PSU, from your rig,
I don't think you WILL make any conroe system work stable
My honestly and sincerely suggestion here, I just don't wanna piss you off and don't wanna waster your time,
get real, Gigabyte 's ds3, dq6 are all :banana::banana::banana:ty board without any value. period.
He obviously thinks I'm some sort of n00b without a clue as to what I'm doing.
I find it difficult to believe the ram is OK and its all the board, considering lots of others are getting great results with D9 based ram on this board (with later BIOS revisions)

GA-965P-DS4 - BIOS Version F5
GA-965P-DS3 - BIOS Version F6

1. New Features ´System Voltage Control´
2. Enhance Conroe E6300/E6400 overclock capability
3. Fix X-fi Sound
4. Fix VDimm & EIST OC
5. Update ICH8 AHCI ROM to version 1.07
Dazog,
How's your ram doing? did it work properly with F5 on the DS3?
I am still on F4
is it working fine with F4? Any instability?
Does anyone know how to wake from sleep with either the keyboard or a mouse click ?
The only way so far is pressing the power button on my case. I tried to enable the keyboard and mouse in BIOS with no go. My keyboard is in the serial port and the mouse is in a USB port. With my previous MoBo (Asus A8N-E) there was an option in BIOS where a could define the 'space bar' to wake from sleep.
Thanks.
Its there alright, in advanced options I think. Look in your manual.
Anyone have any results with the F6 yet? Looking forward to trying this out tonight!
new bios is available.

Hi. I just wanted to share some things that I have come across on this board. First, if you are getting horrid temps, make sure that the left side of your block isn't resting on top of one of the capasiters on the left side of the CPU. Also with my retail step 6 b2 E6600 and the f4 bios, I was able to change the multiplier downward. Is thiw normal for it to be unlocked downward on retail conroes? Finally, my board died a horrible death @ 3.4GHz w/ most setting stock except vcore @ 1.45. It was loseing its max overclock and becoming less and less stable untill it will no longer boot into windows at stock settings. Anyone eles have this same problem? Good luck with your overclocks!

Definitely I want to pick the VX up though.
I updated to f6. No problem so far. I love this MoBo. So easy to OC with the E6400.
BTW, the only way I can wake from sleep with the keyboard is when I set a 'password' in BIOS. Kind of weird. Anybody else has simpler solution ? I would prefer the space bar but it can't be a 'password'.
hi, i bought a ds3 to replace my dfi 975x... the problem is, my ddr2 667 mems dont seem to like the board, it wont even post with two sticks on it. sometimes it boots but it hangs even before i get to install windows XP. im using f4 bios right now, is there a specific bios update that i can do to fix the problem? thanks!
The default Vcore is 1.8v, have you set the vCore to your ram? Maybe that's the problem....Quote:

I wonder does it really take that much VCore to keep me stable at 3.2Ghz? No wonder I was never stable, I never had the vcore that high. I think I'm going to take my heatsink off this weekend and re-apply AS5 cuz I globbed too much on and got lousy temps. Maybe I then I'll dare to go beyond 1.42v to see if I can keep her stable.
It can be done, but there are some definate considerations before going ahead - FYI refer here: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=114323 (and additional info because I double posted here: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=114193)Quote:
