looks stout. will do this next week for sure. And you said put 40mm , what just punch some bolts through the fins? I had servo tape holding one on the NB for about a week but it came loose:D
right now i have a 120 side duck blowing near the NB. the PWM has a asus pwm cooler just stuck on it ..ill keep that in mind if i do this mod.
and yeah SB is a no go with a 8800 on this board, unless you could find some ultra low profile HSF set up
my order shipped on q6600 from nciux
G0 woot.
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Quad Core Processor LGA775 Kentsfield 2.40GHZ 1066FSB 8MB Retail Box 1

i went ground shipping, so its just a waiting game now
the 'GO's' are doing very well with low vcore....exciting times are ahead!:)
one question u said
you used a brass washer. was that above the grommet? on the backside, or on top end of the bolt under the nut.
I'll be selecting out of an Ace Hardware store here, they have a nice 40' long isle full of fasteners parts
ncixus.com got my bussiness too
even better!:)
has the bios been updated yet for 1T? Thats the only thing holding me back from getting one.
YES..1T is available...NOW...whether or not it helps or improves things is conjecture!...it might be dependent on getting ram that allows for 1T operation.
lol very nice man
DUH! why didnt i think of that
servo tape works ok for like a week heh
i picked up up the nuts and bolts at homedepot before they closed. I was unable to find the #6 washer/grommet, they only had #8. I was able to test thread it though, it was snug around the bolt, i opted for slightly longer 4-40 screws to compenstate for slightly larger washer.
and got brass aswell..anyway!
there you GO!:D
think these will do good?

vdroopmods? anybody did it?
for the 40mm on mine I had a blueice(I think it is), that I'm not using. The bit that clips the fan onto the blueice heatsink is flexible enough to hold the fan onto the ip35 mosfet heatsink.
the 80mm fan over my nb I was pretty happy about. It fits on to the ends of my apogee gt bolts exactly.
Re Vdroop. Seems to vary. I've now switched motherboards for another IP35 pro. Next door to where I bought it they had a Q6600 GO for sale, which I couldn't resist. Vdroop at the mo is about -.03-4. Maybe that will change with higher volts.
On the qx6700 with the previous motherboard I was getting - .07-8.
As someone else said here you just figure that in
nice solution there overall, i'm interested how much your pwm temp drops with that tiny fan
When High FSB Priming (6X493):
Set in Bios 1,39
Uguru reports at idle 1,37
Uguru reports at full load 1,30
so agreed with RLM about .06 -.07
so i understand that there is no vdroopmod :)
Does anyone tried to use a Q6600 G0 on a IP35 (not Pro) ? If yes, what is the results so far because I'm tempted by this board to unleash mine because the Bad Axe 2 is limiting me to 3.5 Ghz and less :(
wow i didnt realize i was going to have to worry about the heatpipe falling off with this board....guess i skipped over those posts.
At least i know how to fix it now though. thanks Ace.
it won't fall off the way the board is manufacturer right now...the attachment points are adequate...but, the installed 'TIM' is really ineffective since the attaching pins really do not have the strength to pull the heatsink down firmly to make solid contact with the chipsets and mosfets.
