What do you define as ridiculous volt's? Here's one of the two 144 CAB2E 0540 FPMW's that I got. I don't have any prime screen shot's but it's first night out it ran for 12+ hr's at the speeds below. 1.62 in the bios, showing 1.52 in windows using the latest version of cpuz. If you don't want to take my word for it, I'll see about getting some screens after a night of p95.

Just a Update on my OC so far of my 146 CABYE 0540 FPAW

Was a little unstable @ 3.1 but did run a 1M SuperPi with NP. Can probably get a little higher with some memory tweaking but I think its starting to run out of gas. :confused:

Doing 3GHz stable 100% load for 24hrs at only 1.45v :D
All of this was with watercooling.

I just got a DFI mobo from Newegg. It was not shrink wrapped nor was there a sticker between the box and cover. Do DFI mobo's not come sealed?

I just want to know whether I was duked with a used mobo, or this is how they come.....

I bought my DFI from a guy on ebay, it came in a brown box in an anti-static bag with nothing else. I am 99% sure it is brand new however.

Mine 146 0540 CABYE FPBW can do 3ghz @1.408V...but it is stragne, cause 3times it passed 16h+ SP2004 now can`t pass it any more...but is OCCT, Super_32m and 3dmark05 100% stable...I can`t pass 300HTT stable even at 1,55V...could it be the MOBO that can`t do 300HTT+? This is my 2nd Ultra-D MOBO and before I had an 0517APAW 3000+ Venice that can`t pass 300HTT...but when I sold it to a friend he can run it @320HTT withouth problems... :slapass: :slapass: :slapass: I have changed alos the PSU but the problem is still here...Any ideas?

Thx Shark for your oppinion...I had an Tagan 480W before this one and I also think the PSU it could be the cause of instability...

While I have'nt checked out the rails yet (will do later and report back) it certainly has not changed any of my overclocks or stability after I very recently changed from my Bluestorm 500 which my Son needed (stole :eek: )

Havent you adjusted the pot yet?
My tagan 480-u22 was reading 11.7v on the 12v line when stressed. The trick made my psu much more stable and is now reading ~12.05v at full load.
Works as well for the Tagan 530-U22.

I think 1,7V will be just fine so long the temps are respectable.

After some more testing I can do sp 1m on 3ghz, but it's too hot! From 1,5V to 1,52V its getting just worse. May I will test under my phase change cooler later..

finally got my 146 CABYE 0540 FPMW

went stright for 2.7 on stock volts all seems stable enough. done on air using Gigabyte G-Power Cooler Pro ( had to recycle the as5 off the heatsink and my old winnie to use on the opty as i left my as5 at my mums lol) so far looking promising

Still puzzling if I should take it off or not.

yes, the 146 0540 FPBW with 0524er Batch is really hot too.
Under 1,5V and 3100MHz there is a Temp >50 Grad. And prime do not like temps >42.

Did some very quick and dirty testing. CABYE 0540 FPMW 0001 initial results:

RAM on a 1/2 divider, LDT multi @ 3x, RAM timings at default. Bios 704-2BTA. 2 be continued! :banana:

most i can stable on stock volts is 2890 , 2.9 errors in sp2004.
running at 3g now with 1.45v , temps are creeping towards 50c though so i think i need my as5 to reapply on the cpu. may have to get my mach 2 on this cpu see what it will really do

now i just need the rest of the rig..hopefully i'll be getting teh DFI Ultra-D next week sometime.

Awesome results, I just installed my Opty 146 over lunch and haven't had time to fulled explore the possibilities. Its priming 2500 right now cause thats all Core Center lets me adjust via windows, lol. 3 hours no errors @ 1.36V. I'm sure it will do 2.9 or more but I'll try for more via the bios tonight. By the way I will be posting screenies but my core was within like 20 of yours in the assembly plant ;-). That bodes good news fo rme!

Got mine Wednesday same stepping.

2.8 on stock voltage 18+ hours SP2004 stable. I can go to 2.95 but my temps get over 50c and I don't like that.

Just swapped the 144 out for 146 (CABYE 0540 FPMW), it's happily priming away at 2.9GHz now. To the big 3.0! :D

On monday I ordered a 148 retail box from Newegg for overnight. Tuesday got a 148 CABYE 0540 FPBW. 100% stable at 3003mhz with 1.46V so far. I'm pretty sure they still have the same chips in stock, I would recommend jumping on it.

hmm then my 0536GPWM aint that bad. It does 2906Mhz @ 1.55V 32hours prime stable, but it looks like I cant hit 3ghz with it. Tried up to 1.64V without any luck. Load temps with 1.64V were about 52-54C, so I dont really want to
give it any higher voltage ..

Not to be :( I can't get this thing stable at anything over 2.9 (290x10), I know the board can do more as 317x9 was stable on my 144, but even with 1.65v the CPU seems to have run out of speed.

I cant even get anything over 2.8 stable, though in my situation it could be the board. 2.8ghz is 100% at 1.5v but no matter what voltage I use for 2.9ghz its not stable........3ghz will not even boot into windows

CABYE 0540FPBW Ran prime all night with zero errors and 1.42 avg. voltage. tried 1.45V and 2950 but prime failed pretty fast, I will try 1.50-1.55 just to see if it helps, I can setup down in the basement and turn the thermostat up (is 20F in iowa today.) Played games for hours and everything is working awesome, so for daily use, 2.9 is it!

I just got mine today from ZZF and it's a 0540FPAW, batch#504??

I wasn't very happy :( but threw it in at 300x10@1.45 and it went right into windows. Bumped it up to 1.47 and benched it for about an hour.

Batch Number Doesnt Mean Crap!!!!

i got a small problem, not sure if its my board or the cpu's mem controller.
i can bench my 146 @ 3.2ghz no problem 1.625V but running occt or sp2004 @ 10x310 1.625V fails within 2 minutes yet occt finishes np @ 10x309 1.55V WTF?

edit: just ran occt @ 9x345 (3.107ghz) 1.6V 140 ram divider passed no problem, put ram divider upto 150 (258mhz) & fails straight away again and i know its not the ram as it runs 280mhz 6-3-3-2.5 and its only on 8-4-4-2.5 atm


another update:
just passed occt @ 10x310 1.6V using a 150 ram divider (221mhz) :toast:
it looks like as soon as the ram goes over 250mhz when clocked to 3ghz+ it fails, guess ive solved the problem, now to keep clocking :banana: :banana: :banana:

@tatts ... I have also noticed a similar situation .. that at lower speeds the Mem can run up much higher but start getting over 3.1 and the controller seems to struggle...

even dropping the multi did not help ... I know this MB is good for up to 400-405 as the 3000+ Venice liked 375x8, and this 146 @ 395x9 was ok in Memtest.

What BIOS are you running? I have tried the new FX60Test beta but just could not get it to be stable .. have gone back to 623-2 as I found 704-2BTA was not a good fit on this MB. Maybe try 510-2FIX?

Yeah, nice of them. I say take it. We've got a few from that batch here in Aus, and all have hit 3GHz with around 1.5V give or take.

i was using 704-2bta but then went back to 623-3 to find the same problem, i know its not the board as i ran it at 8x370 without a problem, suppose 100mhz+ on the cpu is better than having +50mhz on the ram

what's the story with removing the IHS lately?
my cabye 0540fpwm seems to need 1.55v to be game-stable @3ghz..(was prime/occt stable at 1.47v... so much for that.)
gets up around 52c+ under load.. 35-36c idle with my watercooling and as5..
I'm thinking RBX + ihs removed would be much better contact..(rbx doesn't cover the whole ihs).. should I try it?
still have a 0536 that does 2.8 laying here so not too worried about killing another(r.i.p 2.4c) cpu with a razorblade.. atm

thinking of removing the ihs later to drop temps abit more :D

the mem controller is struggling when it gets to 3.1ghz+ so have to keep ram close to 200mhz to get it stable, more mhz on the cpu is better than mhz on the ram tho :D
struggling again @ 3.2ghz, can bench it & play COD2 with 1.6V but occt isnt playing ball, will have to play with ram more :(

Well this isn't anything you haven't seen already. 146 CABYE 0540 @ 2800 1.392vcore. Stupid me - didn't write down the whole stepping :slapass: Can't remember anymore which one it was: FPBW or FPMW :rolleyes: I'm going a bit slower because it's my first A64 rig and only had it since monday.

The best part is that the cpu was on some kind of special offer in alternate. I got it with only 149€ (boxed) :D Now it has gone up to 164€ but none in stock. How can you beat that? :cool:

Finally got time to tune my Opty 146 CABYE 0540FPMW, received Thursday from Monarch.

Did stuggling to get it SuperPI32M stable, and found out it is the memory, that giving headache, CPU by itself is very good actually.

First tried the Geil One SE 2x512MB TCCD, interesting thing is, if set Row Cycle Time (Trc) to 9 passed the PI 32M, but will fail if at 7.

Then tried G.Skill 1GBGH. Worked out fine at DDR 504, 2-2-2-3, at DDR544, 2-2-2-5, ok for PI 1M, but no further, need time for tuning.

Glad to have this baby on hand, as part of my clooection, sit aside with the Venice 0517EPMW. The collection will keep growing......

DId tried 10x310 at 1.55V, but at that time, did not tune memory's setting well, may be it will work if I set the Trc to 9, just thinking..... :p:

Heh, no maxed yet, just broken 3.1GHz barrier with AIR cooling (room temp on 23ºC) :D

Pancake here's my 146 doing 3000 with 1.60v (21c ambient) using what most would consider an inferior waterblock by todays standards the dangerden maze3.
What makes it work well is the radiator(chevy truck engine radiator) and pump(littlegiant 475) and a 22" boxfan on the radiator.
As you can see there is no heatsoak in my watersystem and tight 8.5 degree delta between the idle and load temps.
I think most of you guys have good blocks but the heatexchangers (rads) aren't performing that well. Most of the commercial computer radiators and
automotive heatercores are the two pass design which don't let the water slow down enough to remove the heat.
Example: inlet is one end tank where the water flows to the opposite end then returns to the other side where the outlet is beside the inlet tank.
I think the biggest improvent would be to find a radiator that has the inlet and outlet on the opposite ends of the heatexchanger rows or run higher CFM fans on the radiator.

yea youre absolutely correct. im using a dual 2 x 120mm rad that came with a asetek antarctica kit , black ice rad , it only had 1/4" barbs on when i got it but i swapped it out for 1/2" ones but the thread is still 1/4" so thatll be the restriction , and im using the crap asetek res to with inlet and out at a 45 degree angle to one another. gonna get my ass down the hardware store and get me T connector to make a t line tomorow hopefully. and have to buy a new rad as i managed to melt the top off my heatercore with a blowtorch lol :slapass:

Stock cooler. Ambient temp is too high!! And in full load it reaches about 56/58 °C.
So I've tested it only @ 1.36 (windows reading).

pushed it a bit more , upto 3.1. just bumped the vcore upto a reasonable amount so i can keep pushing not keep going back and forth to bios.
i set ram timings loose so they wont be a problem

What BIOs are you guys using for your TCCD memory on the DFI LP NF4 SLI-D??? I have the SLI-DR, but it's the same bios for either board.
