oki ;) that's very good to me.
Could you tell what vNB/vpll (or vpcie)/vfsb you are using ?
Well thanks first!
I approximatively need the same voltages excepted the vcore :/ for my rig (see testing rig in signature) to get this: http://pix.nofrag.com/3/e/b/d83ead0f...0412664att.jpg
didn't reported any degradation yet.
Nice 8400 you got there, nearly identical to this 8500, probably need a bit more vcore due to the higher fsb, but with that fsb and ddr3 your memory must fly! Here´s what I have with ddr2:

My bios names VTT and PLL something different. But i had FSB voltage set to +0.3v, and MCH at +0.275v. With the CPU at 1.49v (in windows its 1.472 idle)
That sounds promising :)
I'm trying to break 20k again, with the same settings that give my 20k once, I'm getting 19.8-19.98k :shakes:
I finally bought a 3dmark license too
Some of my best results with this cpu on a X38T-DQ6(bios f7b) http://pix.nofrag.com/f/8/a/b8d43f68...93253bbbtt.jpg http://pix.nofrag.com/d/f/5/5d48dd65...e9caae13tt.jpg http://pix.nofrag.com/d/f/5/5d48dd65...e9caae13tt.jpg it's a shame!!! http://pix.nofrag.com/f/6/1/3e8ee6fd...eb5d0c81tt.jpg http://pix.nofrag.com/c/1/5/f7c4468b...58c17e73tt.jpg all this is only to relate what i do atm
wow, nice fsb toyten!

What's your max valid freq so far?
My E8200 seem to be doing 4ghz at 1.30vish. Will try to get 8hrs orthos stable atleast. I think its a Okaish CPU ?
Anyone have anything on a q813a126? Just got two e8400 same batch.
Well..., yet I didn't wanted to play with the life of this cpu as I did with my first one which I :banana::banana::banana:ed up by hanging too long at 1.7vcore, high vfsb and vpcie... I should screen arround 4750 with 1.58 vcore bios. Damn I'm pissed off with the fragility of thoses Wolfies.
@ANP!!!: be carefull, prefer a lighter stability test but that's only my opinion unno :)
http://pix.nofrag.com/f/2/0/f50210f8...045579c0a1.bmp did not wanted anymore vcore with my water because I think I have a heat issue with this cpu, I will have to concider to lap it, ...so that's my max frequency at the moment.
i have a 805a and just got a 813.. i guess ill have to try em both now.. was hoping for a 807a on the third try but i dont have that luck
Well, I can't believe it. Second SIIF board I've fried, hehe.
PCI_3 (second blue one) is deader than a door nail. Good thing I bought the 3 year *exchange no questions asked* insurance. I guess they don't have enough people hurt their boards to pay off for them.
Now I have to switch heatsinks/heat pipes back onto this one and take it in.
...frames dropped and I figured out second VGA wasn't working, just when I was about to break my 3DMark record after I had 4.58 working well enough for a bench and I had flashed a modded GT8800 SSC Bios to my SLI cards, both changes which would have got me an additional 200 to 400 points...
i have a friend who's striker just died also.. seems to common among them for my tastes good luck
Thx dude :) yes, those D9GTN chips are great, for the price I payed them like 6 months ago it really roxx (2x1Gb 106€)
I got a E8400 Q807A...and I am quite happy with it :D

It can boot at least 550FSB ...but did not have time to test its limit properly.
Hi, congrats, you have a very good cpu man!
Could you tel me how do you have the correct TJunction for your Wolfdale ? I have the same 0.99 core temp beta and it shows wrong temperatures :(
Thx if you can help me on this
nice oc guys
Is Prime blend just as good for testing stability compared to cpu only ?
thats mine and now he is acting like crazy :/ unstable @ 4Ghz stable @ 4.2Ghz :D
http://www.outofspecs.gr/forum/showp...4&postcount=43
and here is a Pi
http://www.hwbot.org/result.do?resultId=737273
Darkatom i thing blend is not for testing the cpu you wont get the 100% load an i thing blend is stressing the first core only ( i might saying Bal#$%#hit tho :p )
for the cpu you have to use small fft,
Blend gets it all, but I prefer Orthos small, Crysis, NOD32, and standby. If it comes back, it's probably good to go.
I'm up to 4140 now. Just got back from a LAN and it held up like a champ. Def glad I got a chance to check out VID @ Fry's before purchase.
Intel E8400, MSI X48c Platinum, OCZ Flex II 2x2 Gb.
500 Mhz FSB, 5:6 ram divider, 1200 Mhz clock, 5-5-5-15 @ 2.15v, 8.5 CPU multiplier, 4.25 Ghz, 1.35v 55 degrees max.
http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o...exII1200-2.png
All on air, and whisper silent too.
I wonder how much higher I can go
The CPU only goes up to 55 degrees @ 4.25 Ghz now. I applied my thermal paste perfectly this time around for once XD.
Going for 4.5 Ghz next.
Wow thats got to be the best E8400 here,, damn I am jealous now
And the FlexII clocking really good.
Sorry, I should have mentioned its at 1.35v, its not that spectacular XD
4.5 Ghz and 1.4v crashes my PC :(
So its not really that good.
Ignore the Orthos and MSI DCC clock speeds of course, they dont detect the multiplier.
Nice Clocks M8...
BTW i cant reach 1200 DDR like you...
What temps did you get on 1.4 Vcore ?
Here is mine OC at ~ 4240 Mhz...
http://www.imageshack.gr/files/31v7sy5xmlxjznrscqdz.jpg
I havnt ran it at 1.4v becase it didnt boot up :) I havnt tried 1.4v at 4.25 Ghz because 1.35 is enough.
If you read my trolling through all the threads on the OCZ Flex II, you will see that they are difficult to overclock. Mine didnt even reach 1000 Mhz out of the box, I had to start at 800 Mhz and increase it by 33 Mhz at a time, and when I get over 1000 Mhz there were stability problems at first, but the ram gradually gets used to it after lots of stressing and works.
After I recovered from my 4.5 Ghz disaster, my ram went back to erroring in Super PI and Orthos at 1200 Mhz even at 2.25v, so I have had to drop my FSB down to 480 Mhz and have to increase it slowly again while burning the ram somemore.
Once you manage to hit stable at 1200 Mhz, it stays put untill your next overclocking disaster, then you need to start from 1150 Mhz all over again.
I'm currently back to stressing them at 1166 Mhz. My pair do 1125 Mhz on 2.0v, 1166 Mhx on 2.1v, and 1200 Mhz on 2.15v after stressing.
And then trying to OC my CPU more killed it XD. I'm trying to get back to the settings in my sig and will leave it there now.

VID 1.2125
stable was @ 4250 Mhz 8.5 x 500 with 1.41Vcore 1.23Vtt
could do 3.8 @ 1.2Volt 1.1 Vtt ( stock )
now i 'am testing with 9.5 multiplier
the board is the abit Ip 35 Pro MAX Fsb is 540Mhz with that board :(
Rams : team Group Xtreme 1200 5-5-5-15 Can do 1200 @ 4-4-4-4 so no rams stability problems but the board does not like tight straps :/
custom water for cooling ( Cpu - Chipset - Vga )
this is what i got now with the 9.5 multiplier
http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/3...zstablemt8.jpg
here was stable with 8 Multiplier Yes it needs more Vcore with lower Multi :D don't know why :(

^^^ pretty good!!! LIN or Dry ice!?
Putting my money on dry ice.
LOL, a quick test indeed loc.o!
Great result!
core temp says 1.1 real temps says 1.2125 :D
i just took real temp's reading as valid cause it reads higher temps :/ just to be sure :p
These Q807 perform really well as I can see.
Friend from forum has one, and goes on 4.9GHz, on water.
I've got Q739, currently stuck at ~4.6GHz :(

i want down my vcore.. its high? or its good vcore?
with this vcore can i up my FSB/MHZ?
thank you

Coretemp says my q813A 8400 is 1.1125 vid. How does that stack up with other e8400s? My playing around with it to find my max 24hr oc right now.
edit: I'm priming 4.2ghz now at 1.312volts. It's weird sometimes coretemp see this cpu 1.1000vid.
Here is a ss. I have another one same exact batch and pack date too. LOL what are teh chances. How would you guys rate this cpu guys?
http://img90.imageshack.us/img90/4526/42ghzsw4.th.jpg
It's not a golden one mate (4ghz at 1.2volts), but it's one of the better ones, most do only 4ghz around 1.3Vcore and higher under load, if you can do 4.2 at 1.31 you got a good chance to go 1.26 or such for 4ghz...
I use mine at 4ghz at 1.26Vcore, never bothered to try higher as my Striker board get's itchy then...
Can I have the full batch plz to add to the OC list plz...
Well got it 4.2ghz 8hrs prime stable @ at 1.34v cpu-z 1.3v bios. full batch is q813a126. I sold one same batch and packing date as mine yesterday. That dude is gonna be happy.
I bought my E8400 2 weeks ago, batch Q809A161. It can do 4200@1.415V set in bios (1.39 DMM). Is this too high for 24/7? Im not scared or anything just wanna know if its safe.
guys i have E8500 Q746A363 and i can't set 4.3GHz with less then 1.45v
i have a friend that haves same batch and does 5.1GHz or even more with 1.47v (at least that's what he says)
i might be missing something here...
help me out here, might be NB Voltage; GTL; DRAM frequency; Vcore;
SB Voltage; mem Config (i don't know)
If ya want to keep it for a long time I would suggest to put it at 4ghz and keep it under 1.4Vcore in bios, if we see the voltages Jupiler announced most of us are running these beauties already out of spec even under 1.4Vcore...
I think you just lost a friend  that would be a golden one to have 5.1ghz at only 1.47Vcore... most guys that breach 5ghz are already over 1.6 Vcore...
I will buy that CPU if he shows me proof
ok been trying to keep up in this thread but been gone for 2 weeks !!
so which is better od the 3 E8400 eye picked up ?

Dry ICE!? NICE! Where did you get the cooler from? Did you make it? Have any pics?
Ill PM you the bios settings, maybe a bit OT.
finally got that damned X48 stable , needed little more volts than my P5K blackpearl but didn't want to mess with gtl settings
Q804A249 4.ghz 1.25v load / asus P5E3 premium bios 402 beta / Cellshock 12800 @1780 mhz 1.96 /Thermalright 120
All gtl's AUTO :ROTF:/ VTT 1.28 vmch 1.41 ( think I can lower it more ) /calibration line ON /CPU PLL 1.52v
this board seems found of driving" alone
http://pix.nofrag.com/b/5/2/c450d733...2bcab6620t.jpg
does Gtl's make any difrence on Duo Cpu's ?
I think they could help you get less vcore in o/c but didn't find anything well documented that I could understand well on asus boards :p:
whatever I tried on this mobo got random freezes or bsod or failed under prime till I let them auto , tired I was .. :p:
here are some links :
http://edgeofstability.com/index.html

http://ocxtreme.org/main/?q=node/1
It helps me with 8x and 8.5x with FSB > 490. For 9x it was better on auto.
With 500FSB, VTT 1.15v - 1.20v I set CPU GTLs to 59, NB 59 as well. This worked for me for running 3d and 32m up to 8.5x545fsb or 4635mhz with only 1.4vcore. Good for air benching I guess.
This is on the DFI UT P35. May be much different on other boards/bioses.
:) thanks i have an Abit Board and i cant get stable 8x500 at 1.27V
wile i can run 422x9.5 with 1.27 stable 8h prime :(
my chip with lower multy needs higher Vcore and i can't understand why :/
i'am going to try the gtl's and see if anything better happens
Q813A168, any good?
i got a Q807A367
Did little more testing with the e8400 Q809A161 on Swiftech H2O-220 Compact Kit. Just some 3-D fun on an old 680i mobo with 8800GTX SLI @4.6ghz:
http://img131.imageshack.us/img131/8...ose8zg8.th.jpg
Even managed 4.7ghz run with some old 7900GTOs.
http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/9...ose7dz4.th.jpg
Then the mobo started getting squirrely ... didn't start behaving again until I re-flashed the bios ...:D
Hi all. Haven't seen many of q805's in this thread. Guess i'm rather late here with mine but it's hard to get a recent batch in Russia;)
Full batch is Q805A160. I've had 2 of those with exact same batches, the first one was a bit weaker overclock-wise. Did 4.15 GHz with 1.4 set in bios (1.384 by cpu-z & Everest). But I didn't make any screenshots of it (I knew the second one would be better:)). The better one does 4.2 at the same voltage:
http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/4...0stableaw1.jpg
I know that 1 hour isn't considered very stable here but for me it's enough.
The second sensor always shows about 10C lower temp than first, it's calibrated on the screenshot.
Motherboard is P5K (vanilla) and cooling a lapped BigTyphoon VX.
Hi guys ive just managed to get stable @ 4Ghz but i need 1.39v. Is that classed as high or not ??
My batch no is Q748A402.
Cheers Paul.
Picked this up a few weeks ago, finally did some testing.

Pretty average CPU Paul, really nothing special... good ones get 4ghz below 1.3Vcore, golden ones at around 1.2 Vcore
Typical Gigabyte bios mate

Hey, Here is mine!!
I know its not an awesome result but I'll be playing with it and see what it'll be doing in the near future. That orthos is still running :D
I'm pretty sure this is as far as she'll go. I cant get anything higher to run stable. I tried 4.2ghz at 1.4 It'll boot woindoze but wont run orthos past 10s.

I just wanted to let you guys know that I released an updated version of RealTemp last night.
Here's how it looks running Prime on a Q6600.
http://img61.imageshack.us/img61/253...temp260de9.png
A temperature difference between the two dual cores within a Quad is normal.
A lot of improvements and new features have been added in the last month.
I was forced to write RealTemp because none of the available programs at the time could accurately tell me the core temperature or VID of my E8400.
Here's the kind of testing that went into RealTemp:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...&postcount=573
You can read the documentation, including how to calibrate it to your processor here:
http://www.techpowerup.com/realtemp/docs.php
And if all this sounds good then download the latest version:
http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads...Temp_2.60.html
Edit: The new Gamer Mode flickers and is a work in progress. Let me know if this would be a good feature to perfect in a future version. I'll try to get this right using RivaTuner next time.
unclewebb about real temp to me it sais that both sensors movement is 8 what do i set for calibration ? i just can't understand the instructions :(
Vatos_locos: If sensor movement is 8 for both cores then at least you know your sensors are working properly.
To calibrate, you need to run your processor as cool as possible and compare the temperature RealTemp reports to your room or water temperature. On an E8400 at 6 x 333 MHz ~ 2000 MHz and with the core voltage at aboout 1.10 volts, the reported idle temperature should be about 5C above your room or water temperature. Use calibration adjustments so both of your cores or all 4 of your cores are reading the same thing at idle during this test.
Open your case up and turn your CPU fan to its highest setting if you are air cooled.
This method of calibration will improve the accuracy of your reported temperatures from idle to approximately 60C.

Just ran occt for the hell of it on my e8400 but I was a little confused by the 5V and 12V test results at the end. Shouldnt both the rails be as close to solid as possible ? Psu is a st1000.
http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w...6h24-Volt5.png
http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w...h24-Volt12.png
I would think it's a bug, can't see it running like that. Measure the voltage with a DMM to be sure
with 1Volt @ 5volts rail you pc cannot even boot up not mentioning the hard drives the spin up with 12V but again with 1Volt you should not be able to recognize them even inside the bios :p so this is far away from try results
Hello,
I am new to the forum (and overclocking). Just wanted to know if this CPU is a good overclocker. q807a067
Planning to use it on a rampage and thermalright 120
