Drivers:

• Intel Chipset 9.3.0.1019
  EXE & ZIP formats
  These drivers are unnecessary if you're running Windows Vista or newer as they contain all necessary chipset drivers for our board. If you would still like to run Intel's drivers, you can update Intel system devices through Device Manager by pointing them to an extracted installation directory of these drivers, but I don't think there is any benefit to doing so.
• Intel Rapid Storage Technology 10.8.0.1003
  32-bit and 64-bit floppy files for use during Windows XP or Server 2003 installation, or for manual installation through Device Manager on all versions of Windows: here
  These drivers are only necessary if you're running the onboard Intel storage controller in AHCI/RAID mode (see here to enable AHCI if running Windows 7 or Vista). This version of Intel RST is the final supported version for the abit IP35 Pro due to its use of the ICH9R chipset, which Intel has deemed obsolete.
• Realtek 8110SC PCI Gigabit Ethernet Controller NEW!
  While this points to the PCI-E-based NIC driver, this driver is newer than the one found on the 8110SC page and works without issue.
• Realtek High Audio Definition R2.70 for Windows Vista / 7 / 8 NEW!
• Realtek High Audio Definition R2.70 for 2000 / XP / 2003 NEW!

Is there any program out there that will control the speed of the fans. I have tried speedfan but it is not working. It shows the speed in some of the categories but when you go to speed it is not listed. What do I need to do? I am using Windows 7 Ultimate on this board and just installed. Do I need to move my fans around or what? Thanks.

U can control only fans with 4 pin headers. On this motherboard it is atchievable with sys1 & sys2 fans directly from BIOS.

Well, I installed Uguru and it is controlling my fans. I saw that it did not work but saw on some it did. It seems to be working great. I still may switch the fans to see if I have more options for control. What about controlling the CPU fan? That is only a 3 pin header.

And when I just looked there is only a sys fan 1 and no 2. All the rest are Aux fans except for the CPU fan.

The Storage link has been dead for who knows how long. I mirrored it on my Dropbox. Every other driver is up-to-date and has working links as of this post.

u r right. There is CPU, SYS and rest are AUX fan headers (4 of them exactly). I'm using AUX FAN1 & AUX FAN2 headers for two 12cm GeminII related fans. I setup in BIOS temperature trigers (CPU) as [low 40°C, high 50°C] and appropriate voltage [low 8V, high 12V]. The same I could done using uGuru application. These are 3-pin headers and they lack PWM control in normal circumstances but on this board uGuru controls voltage directly which effectively replace the function of 4th pin.

I'm getting ready to load Win7 Home Premium on a new build using a IP35-Pro for my non-technical minded son-in-law, and I need advice on a couple of things before I do. I want to configure everything for as much trouble-free stability as possible, while still getting good performance, so I don't necessarily have to be the personal tech guy for him. The MB BIOS was originally 10, but it looks like I successfully flashed it to 14zzz. The components are as follows:

cpu - Q6600, GO stepping
cpu cooler - Noctua NH-U9B w/2 NF-B9 fans
memory - 8g total: 2x2g Mushkin Blackline DDR2-800 @ 5-4-4-12, and 2x2g G.SKILL Pi Black DDR2-800 @ 4-4-4-12
hard drive - 320g Seagate Barracuda 7200.10, 7200rpm, SATA
optical drive - Lite-On CD R/W-DVD ROM combo, with Abit SATA converter for SATA connection
video card - Gigabyte HD6670

1. Should I configure the BIOS for AHCI or leave them at IDE? If AHCI, do I make the change to AHCI in both the "on chip sata device - sata mode"
section and in the "on-board PCI device, storage controller - controller mode" section?

2. Any other settings I should change prior to installing Win7?

3. Can I install Win7 with all 8g (4x2g) of memory in place, or do I need to use 1 stick only until the OS is loaded? I've read that 4 sticks during OS
install could cause problems, but don't know if this is right or not.

Any other tips you guys can share on setting this system up is greatly appreciated.

1. Use AHCI for the "On Chip SATA Device". You always want AHCI enabled. As for the "On-board PCI Device Storage Controller", which is the JMicron controller, you should keep that as AHCI as well unless you don't have any devices connected to its ports, in which case you should disable it.

2. Other than enabling AHCI, nope.

3. Yes, leave all memory in place, it will be fine.

Be sure the auxiliary Molex plug on the motherboard is plugged in should the motherboard require extra power.

Thanks for the quick response. On another note, is the new driver thats listed on the first page for the Realtek Ethernet Controller the "RTL8110SC(L)" one, and do I also need the "automatic installer"?

Yes, the link is correct. Get the "Win7 and WinServer 2008 R2 Auto Installation Program".

I've ran into a snag prior to attempting to install the OS. In the BIOS, if I change the "on chip SATA device" to AHCI, save & reboot, then go back into BIOS, there are two issues.

Under Advanced Bios Features - Hard Disk Priority, it now shows my hard drive as SCSI-0 : P0-ST3320620AS, when previously it just showed ST3320620AS when it was set as IDE. And under Standard CMOS Features, it shows "NONE" for SATA channels 1,2,3,4, and they are all blued out, not selectable. Previously, it showed SATA channels 1,2,3,4,5,6, all in white and selectable, and my hard drive listed on SATA1 and my optical drive on SATA2. And one other thing, when set as AHCI, under Boot Device Order, it adds my optical drive's name "P1-Lite-On Comb" to the selection lists, where previously the optical drive was listed only as SATA CDROM.

Any ideas on what is going on?

It's working as intended, what's the problem?

I just wanted to be sure there wasn't a problem, since in AHCI mode it was seeing my HD as a SCSI-0 drive, and not as a SATA. Just thought I'd get some clarification first in case it was a problem. I haven't used AHCI mode before, so wasn't aware of what happens when you select that mode. Guess it must be okay, so I'll keep going. Thanks.

Need some help. I was finally able to get my new build up and running with BIOS options set to AHCI (had to put in a newer DVD drive), and have been busy installing some basic utilities. The one problem that keeps showing up that I can't figure out is this: every time the computer boots up and reaches the desktop, I get a message box that says "xInsIDE.exe has stopped working", with listed options to either close the program or to go on-line and try and find a solution. I've googled quite a bit, and it seems it might be related to the Jmicron controller, but I can't find out what I should do. FYI, my SATA hard drive and SATA DVD drive are connected to SATA 1 & 2, if that matters. Anyone know about this problem and what needs to be done?

Also, when first booting up and going through the post screens, this is on one of the screens: "Realtek 8TL8110SC Gigabyte Boot Agent, Press Shift-F10 to configure". Do I need to do this, and if so, what do I do? Thanks in advance.

Disable the JMicron controller in the BIOS if you're not using it. For the network configuration message, go to the CMOS setup screen, then Integrated Peripherals, then Onboard PCI Device, and set - Invoke Boot Agent to Disabled for both Network Controller 1 and Network Controller 2.

Thanks, that is exactly what I had tried earlier this morning after piecing together bits of information from the web, and it worked well. Thanks for the confirmation. I may still play around and see if I can get the JMicron controller to work properly. Maybe another driver or maybe just try setting it to IDE instead of AHCI so I can leave it enabled. Having fun........... ;)

Hello, I have not on this site since my original built in 2008. My abit ip35 pro is still hanging in there, but I would like to try a make over. I would like to install the following:

1) Samsung SSD 830 128gb
2) EVGA GTX 560 ti video card
3) Corsair ddr2 800 2x2 memory modules
4) Window 7 64bit

My current configurations is as follows:

1) e8400 intel process
2) abit ip35 pro MB
3) Corsair ddr2 800 2x2 memory modules
4) Termalright Ultima-90 cup heat sink
5) 650watt Termaltake Toughpower PSU
6) EVGA 8800GTS 512mb Video Card
7) 2 WD 500GB SATA “Black” Hard drives
8) WinXP sp3 operating system

My bios file is: (P35-W627GHG-6A79OA1BC-16) B09 the file name was 16.04 mod

I plan to install win7 on the SSD and then use the WD drive for data and other occasionally used programs. Excluding Window 7, a gift, the upgrade will cost me about $260.00. This board has been real champ all these years. If I can get another two to three years out of it with my upgrade, I will be happy. I primarily use my system to web browse, play games occasionally, heavy spread sheet use and word processing. My system has become so blotted over the years, I think I need to clean house and start all over again.

Questions:
1) Do I need to update the bios?
2) Could any of the comments listed have compatibility issues?
3) Did I miss anything?

2. No, updating the BIOS will be sufficient.

What is "Realtek HA R2.7 for win7"?

You don't need the Intel Chipset driver for Windows Vista or newer.

1) This driver is not RAID-specific. It is an AHCI driver. Install it after installing Windows 7. Be sure your SATA Operation Mode is set to "AHCI" before installing Windows 7. This isn't the stone age anymore, you don't need no floppy.

2) You don't need to install the utility, but there is a device that will require the driver from the µGuru ZIP file, so be sure to install it via Device Manager.

Sorry, I meant realtek high definition audio drivers. I guess I just dated myself. I do have a floppy-card reader combo drive. Will that make a difference when installing AHCI drivers?

Oh, yeah, you'll need the HD audio driver.

No, you don't need anything at all with Windows 7. Just enable AHCI, install, then install the Rapid Storage Technology driver once you're in Windows.

I'm just finishing building a Win7 system using my IP35-PRO and a Q6600. The only real problem I encountered was during the Win7 install. It was taking a VERY long time, and would hang at different points. After lots of google research and trying different things, it turned out the problem was that I was using an old Lite-On dvd drive, maybe 7 years old. I swapped that out for a new ASUS dvd drive from Newegg, and my problems totally went away. Win7 installed quickly and easily, and then I just had to tweak a couple of BIOS settings to fine tune things (see my posts above). Good luck with your upgrade.

I would just use the Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool to create a USB installer, then boot off the flash drive. It'll install much faster that way.
