Hey guys. I have been trying to keep up with this thread. I have to get a new motherboard and it is between this and the Asus Premium. I have a 3500 Venice and OCZ pc4800(TCC5 or TCCD). I have read something about needing to use 2T on the abit. So what mobo is best for me? Thanks.
Sorry, I should have remembered to include this..Quote:

About 2 weeks into running 1.5 I was still unable to boot with 1T, and now couldn't even run 1T using A64Tweaker.
About 2 days ago I started using tictac's modded BIOS (which is based off of 1.3 I believe). I have not noticed anything different than with 1.5, or even the original 1.3 for that matter.
The system is still 100% stable as long as I run 2t. If I try to boot with 1T, my system powers down. If I try to set 1T with A64Tweaker, my system reboots (regardless of BIOS version).
Thanks!!
Riley
donno if new Asus board have fixed their 1T problem or not....there was a thread here where the guy went to 320MHz 1T but a lot of people were saying it was bull:banana::banana::banana::banana:...so you might have the same issue...abit is more flexible if you end up going UTT in future and there are more tweaks in bios.....Asus bios updates tend to take a hell of a lot longer than Abit so it's a hard one but slightly leaning Abit i think. DFI is good for TCCD RAM just be careful with bioses.....might be a bit of a pain in the ass to get it sweet that's another issue....hard choice dude

i dunno about matured bioses with DFI. They release bios like every other week and their latest bios have issues too with voltages.
A matured bios wouldn't fry CPU's :slap:Quote:

I really think the quirkiness comes from the chipset. Generally, Abit's Intel offerings are excellent. But somehow their AMD boards aren't anything special.
yah i agree, it seems like intel chipsets are more stable.Quote:

From what i hear it sounds like the new bioses fix one problem and create another? Atleast there are a number of bioses to try to resolve the different problems users have.Quote:

Dont worry, it wont take long for ABIT to fix everything up :) then maybe i can get a 28 sec SuperPI pass :toast:
Even if it has the 2T problem, i still think its better than the DFI, when i had problems with my DFI, it inhibited my OC greatly and forced me to run near stock, atleast with this board i can still run 2700Mhz with 245Mhz 2-2-2-7
I am going to be in 28s territory as well.....[EDIT] Aokman you b1tch what's with the username

ABIT AN8-Sli + OCZ Plat Rev 2 / Twinmos Winbond CH-5
Hi guys, I was to go for DFI NF4-SLi-D surely, but then I saw ABIT AN8-Sli  and I just changed my mind.... well I just hope my current 3000 Winnie and new 3200 Venice will go good with above mentioned setup. Will get my things from a cousin whos flying down here from US (3 weeks to go).
With my limited cash I had to decide fast. Any thought, how to improve???
Nop I dont have any more Funds so nothing new for me for sometime..... :(
why changed mind ?
I did recieved my Abit AN8 Fatat1ly SLi yesterday, so I hope Abit will fix the T1 isseu becuase I plan to use it with my g.skill at T1. But maybe I'm lucky because I didn't orderd a SD or venice but a Toledo (X2 4800+ :O ). I can't want till I recieve my CPU and GFX (7800GTX :O )
that's going to be one hell of a setup...I don't remember anyone else using X2 CPUs so we are all very keen to see how you go

I mean ABIT AN8-SLi (Non Fat) version .... yeah I know it has 3.55V option and thats why I opted for this. Another option was EPOX, which seems good but then I have Twinmos CH-5 and Corsair (Winbond-BH) based so I went with this one as it has igher VDIMM.
Also this one is bit better then DFI when it comes to High VDIMM.... I can say this after reading many VX going BAD and boot problems.
