what's coming is to test and review in the SM board I did then review on.
I'll know for sure when it arrives.
Just ran a cooler comparison between TR extreme and WC setup using WCG.
i7 920 @ 4ghz w/1.35v
22C ambient
TR extreme | 2x 113cfm fans:
73C
Apogee XT | Ek FBWB | 2x Thermochill PA120.4 | 8x Scythe 130cfm fans @ 7V | Ek Dual Pump Top | 2x MCP655
50C
JEEZE! I can't wait to get those Xeons in my hand and see what I can really do for WCG:D Hoping for 4.75ghz 24/7
Just checked the last 4 validated WU's and being granted at a rate of app 105,700+ PPD:up:
Any successful testing with bclk 200+ MM?
I've run it at 200BCLK but like everyone else is finding out to do so requires more VTT than I'm comfortable with.
1.325VTT is the max I want to run and would rather be lower.
I'm at 25x174 for 4352 on the X5680's
That will translate to 4002mhz for the X5670's with the 23 multi.
Kind of stinks that these things do take a lot of VTT I need 1.58V to run my mem at 1072mhz 7-8-7-20. The cpu doesn't need it but memory does. If you underclocked your memory you would probably have more success with low VTT and higher cpu clocks.
Have you been running with VVT=1.58v for 24/7? In case, it is really good news that it is not degraded/dead yet ;).
The locked x20 Uncore seams to be the biggest VVT-demander on my setup. I can boot into w7 with less VTT by sing x8 or x6 RAM, but it requires almost the same VVT as x10 RAM to run 24/7 stable. The real difference is ~2-3 BCLK, not much more, at least on my setup.
We need to share these experiences in a systematic manner, and find out how much VVT and Vcore these chips can take for 24/7. I personally need info all info i can get about max VVT for 24/7.
This is one the best news I've heard for a long while. Thx for sharing :) Please let me know if you already have a link to screens of yours setup.
My CPU is running really cool too. The load-temp @4GHz is almost the same as the idle-temp of my good old w3520 at the same speed :D. The vCore and temp have still a good OC-headroom, but the VVT<1.33v has been limiting my OC. I really need to hear more good news like this.
Actually it IS the CPU needing the VTT... the IMC, to be exact. Because you are running Uncore = 2*dram, your uncore speed is very high, hence requiring a lot of VTT to be stable.
Still, I'd bet you money my w3520 could run with your ram (and speeds) at ~1,45V VTT stable (it has a very strong IMC). I used to run 2Ghz Dram/4Ghz uncore 24/7 at ~1,36V VTT.
Back on topic, I can't seem to get this L5640 stable at 4Ghz (211x19) no matter the Vcore/VTT. I think it may be the motherboard not being able to handle the speed... already pushing 1,3V NB
200x19 is rock stable at 1,25V Vcore / 1,3V VTT
Power draw close to 0 LOL
Heres a resent screenie, sorry MM don't mean to highjack:rolleyes:
VTT is 1.58V via DMM

^^ OMG, that's a 45nm. The big question is if these new 32nm CPUs can take as much torture, too.
Thx for getting my hopes up for a little while, anyways. ;)

I have been waiting to see your water cooling setup, and its results for a long time. Any guess for when we will get to see it?
I saw the date for the next run for custom orders at Mountain Mods, but thought that maybe there was something else going on for your face plate. You have managed to get a number of parts earlier than most other people.
Also, if it is not a secret, what fans are you planning on using, and what is the idea for the setup? I have some high speed 140x140x25mm Yate Loons that I plan on putting in push/pull. I saw Fitseries3 went with some very impressive 140x140x50mm Deltas.
I've got some 140x25mm fans, forget the name, got them from Petra's a year or so ago..DSR12 something..I think they are like 65cfm
just checked, I have 4 oif these and FITSERIES is being hoggish on his source!
140mm Yate Loon D14SM-12 Case Fan - Black (62 CFM, 29 dBA)
you are more than welcome to search on your own for them but i cleared out the stock of them when i found them.
i spoke to delta about them to get more and they said the part number i have was a very limited run found in dell servers.
full product number is..
DELTA FFB1424SHG -SP00 4Y12X
here is the spec sheet for info if anyone wants it.

i looked for ages. me and another guy... who i believe is banned... part of the R3 crew... have looked and emailed tons of fan companies and have received no response.
seems no one cares to make 140mm fans people actually want.
